We lost my mom very suddenly. I came from out of town while she was in the hospital and after she passed we wanted to get the funeral done soon after. We didn't want her waiting at the hospital and my family and I needed closure before returning home. My cousin and I searched online at multiple funeral homes but none of them seemed right. Their pricing was confusing and they weren't able to accommodate our desired date. We met and worked with Todd Wester throughout the whole process and he was very compassionate, kind, professional and so easy to work with. During a tragic time like this, he helped make the process bearable and seamless. Every staff member we came in contact with including the mortician Jeanette was amazing and very sweet. The funeral home had a Buddhist room that was beautiful and perfect for my mom. It's exactly how she would have wanted it. Part of our very affordable package included the banquet room which fit our family and friends perfectly for lunch afterwards and it had a huge fridge for us to store our drinks in. They also had a beautiful comfortable lobby to gather around in. No one wants to be in this position of having to plan a funeral for their loved ones but if you have to this is the most honest, professional, compassionate funeral home you will ever find.

Other funerals I've gone to, the staff members whether working in parking control, or guiding the pall bearers seemed more caring. They'll make sure the family's experience is emaculate, or at least almost perfect. Here, they don't greet you, nor at least try to assist the elders especially in the parking lot. They'll just stand there with a blank look to make sure you're okay... without even a smile. But they are seemingly professional with their guidance. Definitely not naturally charismatic. I hope they like their jobs. For me, it's been sad to keep experiencing loss of loved ones. We are getting older, and it's called the circle of life. Going back to the cemetery itself, the graves are quite scattered. You'll see clusters filled, and then empty spots steps away. The views of San Jose City is beautiful! Blue skies. Birds chirping, some wind, made my experience wonderful. Of course depending on the weather. The cemetery is still expanding into unused land. However, some nice homes are built directly across the street, where the lawn may be shared (literally). Luckily, I'm friends with Casper, and Poltergeist is only a movie. LOL. I'd say it's an average 3.8 stars experience.

Organizing a funeral is something hopefully you won't have to do too many times in your life. Nonetheless, you expect some empathy, compassion and professionalism at such a stressful time. This is a tale of two mortuaries since we had to ship our mother's body to another location where the funeral was going to be held. Joe Lima, in particular, is a snake oil salesman. I thought we were there to talk about my mother but instead, Joe Lima spends over an hour talk, talk, talking about how he can never retire as he is paying (2) ex-wives. Lucky them - they escaped! Starting at the beginning, it was morning when our mother died and we waited for several hours for the mortuary to come and pick up the body which ended up being after 9am. When it came time for the costs to be tallied, there was an extra charge ($345) since the mortuary said they had to 'call' staff to pick up the body with a second attendant? The response - 'well we still had to call someone to come early' was the answer. I guess you can only die between 10-5pm if you don't want the 'additional' charge added on. The stock standard charge was ($2995) just to start the process. Joe Lima, while loving to talk, did not like you to ask clarifying questions. Said he couldn't adjust any of the costs or 'the boss' would get angry. I thought he was the boss - his name is on the billboard or maybe Joe Lima works for the mob. Yes, it is a business and all businesses need to make money however it felt like buying a used car while all these additional costs are added onto the form without understanding what they are and questions are stymied. Joe then goes in another room to add it all up - sign here! While I was waiting for new bank checks to arrive to render payment, Joe Lima chased me down, sent harassing emails and threatened me with collections - all this before my mother was in the ground less than 2 weeks. In comparison, the other mortuary we used received the body, the coffin, dressed mother and put on her make-up, delivered the coffin to the church and the burial service on separate days, organized the flowers etc and still cost less than Lima Mortuary. All questions answered and payment were professional. E-signature requested to finalize payment after services rendered. Perhaps people are not dying fast enough for Joe Lima to keep up his alimony payments if has to harass and threaten customers for payment under 30 days. For the services rendered it was a complete sham and the behaviour of Joe Lima honestly was a disgrace. By the way Joe, get some cuff links or at least button up your cuffs. The loose cuff unbuttoned look is tacky at best. There are plenty of excellent mortuaries in the Bay Area. If you have a choice do not use this mortuary.

Exceptional Funeral Services for My Father…read more Losing my father was one of the hardest moments of our lives, and I had no idea where to begin with arranging his funeral. From the very first call, the team made the entire process so much easier and more manageable for us. They guided us step-by-step--from helping us schedule meetings, to clearly explaining what needed to be done depending on the practices we chose (Catholic or Christian), to handling all of the important documents on our behalf. Their advice was always practical, honest, and rooted in experience. One thing that gave us tremendous peace of mind was knowing that my father would be cared for with dignity during his full-body repatriation to the Philippines. They ensured that he would arrive safely and properly prepared, and we are forever grateful for that reassurance. A special thank you goes to Tom Beddingfield, who was a true anchor through all of this. His patience, professionalism, and steady guidance made an overwhelming process so much easier for our family. I cannot thank him enough for a job exceptionally well done. We also want to highlight the incredible work of Dean DeBruin, who created my dad's video tribute. This was no simple task--my father had a massive and disorganized collection of photos totaling 16 gigabytes. Dean was unbelievably patient, kind, and accommodating through every revision and request. The final tribute was heartfelt, beautiful, and truly captured who my dad was. The coordination between the funeral team and the church was seamless. The staff communicated directly with the parish where we planned to hold the viewing and funeral mass, which removed so much stress from us. We are especially thankful to Fr. Francis, who reached out personally to learn about my father's life so he could honor him meaningfully during the service. We would also like to express our deep appreciation to Noriel P. Adricula, the incredible singer and pianist who provided the music for the funeral mass. His performance was heartfelt and beautiful--exactly what my father deserved. All who attended my father's funeral were in awe of how beautifully everything was managed--professional, heartfelt, and all at a very reasonable price. We specifically upgraded and paid for a "gold/bronze" boxed urn to bring my mom home in. Instead, after getting home and unwrapping everything with my family, I discovered that her ashes had been placed in a plain plastic container. Because everything was wrapped when it was handed to me, I had no reason to believe anything was wrong. This isn't something most people have experience with, and in that emotional moment I trusted that everything had been prepared correctly. What was equally disappointing was the complete lack of empathy during the pickup. I was simply handed my mother's remains with little acknowledgment of the significance of the moment. There was no effort to verify the contents with me or ensure that everything matched what had been arranged. I have spent the last 20 years caring for my mother, and I also work in healthcare. I understand that people in this profession deal with death and grief every day. However, for families, this is not routine--this is one of the hardest days of our lives. Compassion, attention to detail, and respect matter immensely. The only positive experience I had was with the woman who originally helped my mother make her arrangements about a year before she passed. She was kind, thoughtful, and compassionate. Unfortunately, the care we received afterward did not reflect that same level of professionalism. This was one of the most painful experiences of my life, and the mistakes and lack of compassion only added to our grief. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this business. After discovering the mistake, I immediately contacted the business and am currently waiting for a return call. I sincerely hope they take responsibility for what happened and make this right. I will update my review based on how they choose to address this situation.

I truly felt an instant feeling of safety and trust. Sometimes we're lucky enough to get guidance. David is kind, sympathetic and morale. I spent the next several years feeling secure for when the time came. One of the few things I was able to feel secure about. When my husband did pass in the middle of the night in the veteran hospital hospice, they knew to call Honor. Because it might take time for Honor to arrive, the hospital wanted to take my husband to their mortuary and I refused saying we would wait for Honor. I trusted them and knew he'd be in good hands and those feelings were right. The gentleman who arrived to take my husband helped the nurse prepare him so when he came out of the room he was draped in the American flag. With everything else my husband and I went through with the change in care facilities, finances, and just 'handling it all' as my husband's condition worsened over the years, David's honesty and compassion took this step off my shoulders. I have purchased Honor Cremation for myself, so our children have the confidence to know everything will be taken care of. Thank you David and Honor Cremations. If you are looking for a team that treats your loved ones with true honor and provides a seamless, compassionate experience, I cannot recommend them highly enough. I also really appreciated the honesty in their business model. I know it could technically be cheaper if they did every single thing in-house, but they intentionally use outside sources for certain steps to ensure everything is handled by specialists.
