We worked with both Amanda and Alli over four years, and my son made tremendous progress in his expressive language and speech pragmatics. The team is not only dedicated to making speech fun, but they attend regular workshops and conferences to keep at the cutting edge of new techniques and protocols, applying what works best for their little clients. We LOVE Amanda!!! Before we found her, I did my research and contacted many speech therapist in our area, granted our son was not a severe case, most speech therapist I inquired about already had him on a strict lesson and weekly attendance schedule even prior to assessing him. I was turned off by that immediately. When we contacted Amanda I immediately felt comfortable and reassured that she was the best fit for us. There was no pressure or immediate schedule or routine because she really didn't know what he needed until she met him. She has a way with our son that not only makes him comfortable but makes his learning and therapy fun. Thanks to her he has come a long way in a short amount of time. She really cares about him and his progress and provides play activities that will best enhance his therapy sessions. It's true, Amanda is as good as it gets when it comes to providing Speech Therapy Services!! My kid ADORES her, and she and Amanda hit it off right away. Amanda is fun, engaging and patient. She really cares and the bond that was formed with my daughter, O, was quite special. We had been through several speech therapists, and when Amanda came aboard, we never looked back! Amanda used a variety of techniques and materials such as games, flascards, oral motor tools and songs to engage O. She played with O, which helped O stay motivated, focused and on task. She provided information about O when we asked, always kept us up to date with what was happening in therapy, asked for our feedback and gave us resources and tools to use at home with O. We saw significant progress with O over the year that Amanda worked with her. By the end of O's time with Amanda she was using two word sentences, her vocabulary was up significantly and she was working on 3 word sentences. O was also singing songs and making verbal requests, things she was not doing prior to working with Amanda. I really loved the convenience of home based service. I am a full-time working mother of two, and the flexibility of having Amanda come to us, was fabulous! One less thing we had to work into our already packed schedule. Amanda has been FANTASTIC! Not only is she is very thorough and knowledgeable about her work, she has this warm and dynamic energy! My daughter is very reserved but was able to quickly warm up to her. We also appreciated her flexibility to work at my daughter's preschool, come home on holidays, and the detailed reports and "homework" she provided. We are a month into our therapy services with this group and this place is as good as it gets in terms of service, attention, and total commitment. our child went to 3 separate speech studios before we found BASS. I couldn't feel more grateful to have found them and to be working with them so closely. They return calls and emails quickly, they really work to get to know my child and her needs, and it doesn't feel like a factory or a doctors clinic. Amanda is amazing!! I have observed her session with my kid several times and every time I am impressed. She is very efficient with her time, getting my son to do many activities during the hour with her. He loves every game and doesn't even realize he is "working". And Amanda does everything with a smile; unlike some past therapists, she seems very happy! During the week he keeps reminding me that Amanda will come on Friday. So even if he has a tough day, I just have to remind him about "Amanda on Friday" and he smiles. As a parent, I not only appreciate Amanda's experience and talent, I also am grateful for her professionalism. Never late, always doing everything she is asked. What can we say about Amanda that hasn't already been said? We feel so lucky that our son had the opportunity to work with her. Prior to Amanda, we went through speech services from the state which was only approved until our son's 3rd birthday. Our therapist actually recommended us to Amanda. Our 3 year old is typically shy around anyone new. But when we first met Amanda, she was so engaging with him and made the therapy fun that he couldn't wait to see her again! Her techniques for speech therapy is so enjoyable -- our son was always eager to see what she in her giant bag of toys and games. Amanda worked with my son for roughly 6 months and saw him once a week. 6 months ago, he barely put 2 words together. 6 months later, he's stringing 5-7 word sentences!!! Amazing!!! His speech has improved so much and through other oral therapy exercises, he's no longer drooling and thrusting out his tongue. As of last week, my son is a happy graduate of Bay Area Speech Studio. We cannot thank Amanda enough for everything she's done for him. My son is still in denial that she's no longer coming over on Wednesday mornings...we are too! You won't find a better speech therapist than Amanda!!! My non-verbal son has been working with Speech Therapists from various speech therapy locations in the Peninsula in addition to attending a special preschool with the school district for the past few years. NONE of his former therapists or teachers have managed to get my son to produce any type of sound. We have been working with Amanda for only a few months now, and within the first few weeks Amanda was able to get my son to produce a few letter sounds, which lead to more letter sounds which then lead to him being able to request something to eat "I - ooo - EEEE". None of his past therapists or teachers have ever been able to come close to this. If I could afford to, I would just pull him out of school and have him learn with Amanda all day! My son is very stubborn and not very easy to keep engaged, yet Amanda works wonders. She is so good with him, and he enjoys working with her. I believe this is my first review on yelp and it's fitting that it should be for someone who has meant so much to our family. My daughter began speech therapy with Teacher Amanda when my daughter was 4 years old. Our preschool director recommended that we begin speech therapy because 1) mom and dad were still "translating" most of my daughter's conversations 2) my daughter had started off the school year very bubbly and upbeat, but had become frustrated & quiet because her peers couldn't understand her very well 3) my attempts at boosting daughter's speech development with apps and games were not working. We went through the not-so-fun process of getting evaluated and searching for a speech therapist. Teacher Amanda was the bright, bright light at the end of the tunnel. My daughter, who at the time was shy around new adults, instantly liked Teacher Amanda. Teacher Amanda makes learning fun for the kids and is an excellent coach to parents. Although I know everything Amanda does is rooted in science, it never feels clinical or scary for the kids. At the end of the school year.....about 4.5 months into speech therapy.....our daughter won a very special award at preschool "graduation". She won the award for "Most improved participation in circle time." This meant a great deal to us. It meant that our daughter had grown more comfortable in raising her hand and speaking in front of a group. We certainly have seen marked improvements. Mom and dad hardly ever have to translate these days (now 8 months into speech therapy). We've also noticed that the speech therapy has put our daughter ahead of her peers with early literacy. Our preschool director, who has led an award winning program for 28+ years, has told us that we have found a "real treasure in Teacher Amanda." read more

When I contacted Bay Area Speech Studio, Amanda got back to me very promptly. She set my 5-year old son up for a speech assessment very quickly and brought along one of her speech therapists, Stefanie, with her. My son is very shy, but when Amanda and Stefanie showed up with a huge bag of tricks, it was all fun and games for him from that point on. The greatest thing about Bay Area Speech Studio is that they will COME TO YOU. I have three kids and run my own business, so having the speech therapist come to us is such a huge convenience. My son really loves Stefanie and asks me all the time if it's "Stefanie Day" yet. She is really patient, fun, and knows how to re-direct my son when he loses focus. This review is long overdo! This place is the best place for your son or daughter that you will ever find. You don't have to search any longer! i came here with my son a year ago. He is autistic and the staff was amazing with him! So compassionate, caring, knowledgeable and professional. My son loved coming here. Let me put it this way... I lived in the east bay and I would travel in traffic at 3:45 to get there by 4:45 and then traffic all they way back too. 3hours! Just to see them every Friday. YES they are that good. My son improved and the staff is genuinely invested in the kids. We had to move to southern California, but I still see the little seeds of love and time they planted in my son. I cannot say enough good things about the progress my son's speech made while Amanda was working with him. As a kindergartener with boundless energy, he eagerly looked forward to his appointments. Amanda tailored the lessons to him and her positive attitude and fun games made the time spent with her the highlight of my son's week. My son has been receiving speech services for about a year and a half. We just finished as he met all of his goals and now is at an age appropriate level. Words can not even begin to describe how wonderful they are. The therapists were fantastic. We saw Stefanie and Shannon. Both fantastic therapists. My son loved going. To him it was just play time but with each visit his speech improved. The owner, Amanda is fantastic and always available to answer any questions. Location is great and easy to access. We are very happy with the progress our son has made for the past year and a half that he has been attending. Our household is bilingual so we needed a bilingual therapist, and they had one! So we started our therapy sessions in Spanish, then moved into English sessions with the same therapist, Rachel Smith, and then because of schedule issues we started sessions with Allison Pestano. Both amazing therapists! My son loves them both and enjoys very much the time he spends there, for him it is an hour of playtime with a very interesting person. I went in for a long time to learn how to apply the same concepts being worked on during the week, and it was always amazing. Every week I learned something new about how to better speak to him to get him to talk more and to this day we are very grateful. Since the very first time we were there for an evaluation we felt like we were in the right place. It was recommended to us by another amazing ABA therapist my son has. Parking is a little hard, but that is just the way it is in SF, isn't it? read more

My toddler son was referred for speech therapy because he was almost non-verbal. He seemed to understand plenty, but would not vocalize. Amanda and Stef came to meet us and worked with my difficult schedule-- my kids have preschool and I work in the East Bay but we live in SF. Stef found a late weekday spot for me, and never made me feel guilty when I was running late. She was always cheerfully waiting patiently for me to finally get there, and even offered to make up sessions on a different day when I was so late I needed to cancel. Both my boys LOVED Stef. Even though she was assigned to my younger son, she brought extra toys for my older son so that he wouldn't feel left out when she opened her big bag of fun. Best of all, my younger son was released from speech 3 months early, because he had hit all the milestones. I have only wonderful things to say about Bay Area Speech Studio. After a trusted colleague referred me to Amanda, I contacted them for an assessment for my daughter. Amanda came to our home and was so sweet, friendly, and knowledgeable about the process. Stefanie provided the ongoing therapy and was so good with my daughter. My daughter loved meeting with her. They were so flexible with our crazy schedule, and came in to do therapy in our home after my second child was just born! When my daughter transitioned to therapy in the office (SF location), she loved the environment. The office is filled with a ton of great toys to facilitate language. We eventually met Shannon when my daughter participated in group sessions, and she was fabulous as well. My daughter made a ton of progress with her expressive language, and her confidence grew. I was also very impressed with the quality of Stefanie's reports, and how she measured progress on goals. Overall, this is a high quality place for speech therapy. read more

I can not say enough about Amanda. I reached out to her (after extensive research) for help with my then-3 year old son. He was struggling with some stuttering issues that were becoming increasingly worse. He was to the point where he would cry because he could not get words out. It was heartbreaking to watch. Amanda immediately developed a detailed treatment plan for him, and was flexible enough to meet us at his preschool each week at 8am. She was a ball of sunshine each and every single time. My son immediately took to her and we began to see results very quickly. He seemed to really enjoy his time with her, and was always laughing and smiling.
