I think I used this place a total of 4 times. The recent experience has me questioning this place, and I would definitely choose somewhere else to take my test. Most recent experience came today. I took Part A of the exam in December. During that test, there wasn't a rule for "no calculator, no scratch paper, no pencil, no other aid". Didn't have a problem, took that test and off I go. 2 weeks ago on Saturday I was scheduled for Part B. I went for Part B, and it looked like the password given wasn't correct and they could not contact my school. Fine, I'll reschedule. Today was my rescheduled experience. Part B. The proctor stated that, I could not use, "pencil, calculator, scratch paper, or other aid". There was nothing in the final exam regulation that had those clauses. I told the proctor and he wouldn't assist. I tried to show him the information and he said I would have to contact the school. Well, the school has the information on the site. Anyway, I had to take the test without aid. Whatever... But this guy working here obviously was just there for a weekend part time job. And it looks like he hated it. The sketchy part was the charge they put on my card. 5% credit card convenience fee. I did some research on this. In California this is violating the law and terms and condition of Visa/Mastercard. But I did not realize that in california, your only allowed to charge 4% max. 5% is over the limit for the surcharge. If your willing to pay such surcharge, go ahead and sign up for your proctor test here. And this is 2017, there really aren't that many small businesses charging processing fees, and if they did, it was something like 2.5-3%. Bay Area Testing Center used Square to process the charge. Square takes 2.75% for all swiped charges, therefore they are profiting 1.25% extra on the proctoring fee. read more

The woman at the testing center was very rude. After I completed the exam, there was no "congratulations you passed" just "did you print this?" She said they never allow printouts of the proof of passing the exam. I said "why?" She seemed concerned about cost of the printed page and said they've been there forever and never allowed this. I have NEVER had this happen at any testing site and I've taken plenty of academic/career based exams. She asked if they charged me at other testing sites apparently she was very concerned about the cost of my one page print out proof of passing (after paying over $200 dollars per exam). I would have paid her for the printout but was just shocked at her lack of friendliness. Also they were very loud. They lock the door so they have to unlock door for each person coming in then walking back and forth talking to their back office, reorganizing stuff. Anyway I was excited to pass then really disappointed on how I was treated after the exam. Like why? Bad customer service. There are plenty of testing sites around. Don't go here. Go to San Jose State or another testing center. read more

I took my law school finals here and had a great experience. To begin with, the email communication leading up to the exam was excellent. They always got back to me and followed up at every step to make sure we were on the same page. I felt confident going in that there would be no issues and that expectation was well met. Friendly, professional staff helped me to setup and in no time I was off to the races. I took a 3 hour timed exam on their computer station. Everything worked perfectly and I had no issues with printing or computer malfunctions. The bathrooms were close by which was excellent because my exams allowed no extra time for breaks. After completing the tests, my proctor sealed everything up and sent it back to the school. I had a perfect experience and would absolutely come back again. 10/10. read more

I used Bay Area Testing Center's proctoring services for an online degree program. The staff was always very friendly, accommodating, and flexible with my last minute test changes. This kept my stress levels low during stressful test taking times. FYI, the test site changes depending on what day you take the test. As of now, the schedule is: Millbrae office on Monday, Friday, and Saturday, and Skyline College Testing Center Tuesday - Thursday. Both locations were convenient for me so this didn't pose any logistical issues for me. Overall, after taking 20 plus exams with them, I had a great experience. I used Bay Area testing center to proctor tests for my online college courses. They were very accommodating. Setting up tests: was a breeze. All I had to do was email them about when I'd like to take a test, and within minutes they'd respond confirming my time and date. Changing dates: on a few occasions I needed to change testing dates and they handled it. No problems. Bay Area testing center does a great job with customer service. They also have adequate testing machines (desktop Dells) that handle testing procedures just fine. read more

I have taken many exams at the Bay Area Testing Center. I am getting a second bachelor's degree from an online college, so I have had to take quite a few proctored exams. Andy, the manager, is outstanding. When I forgot my password at the beginning of the testing procedure, Andy actually called the university and helped me to create a new password! I was in a panic and he was great about getting everything working for me again so I could take my exam as scheduled. Everyone at the testing locations are very nice and encouraging. It's nice to go into an exam with a friendly face wishing me "Good luck!". I have used both the Skyline and San Bruno testing sites and both locations are excellent. Staff are very difficult to work with. Depending on the proctor the hours they list do not adhere to that of other proctoring centers, and one needs to make a special appointment necessitating a higher fee for that. The university my son used is a foreign university which demands him to sit the exams on only Mondays, but BATC doesn't open on Mondays except by appointment., thus, he ended up with a Mon. @ 6 a.m. appointment which could not even be arranged to 9 a.m. as it interfered with that proctor's personal schedule! Do not go by the opening hours they list here on Yelp; you will be shocked when you actually know their hours which shows on their website as follows: January - June 2016 Testing Schedule: Thursdays 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm (selected) Fridays 8:00 am - 8:00 pm Saturdays 8:00 am - 8:00 pm Sundays 8:00 am - 2:00 pm all others By Special Arrangements only ​ They also require one's institution to list every single item one needs including from the number of pens, pencils, one's bottled water and eyeglasses, any and every single item which is just unnecessary. No other proctoring center requires this as these items are taken for granted they are necessary! In fact, the actual university allows one to bring in bottled water and one's backpack into the testing area. That's the reason why there's a proctor: To keep an eye on the student at all times. BATC uses CCTV. Use only as a last resort IMO. Otherwise, put up with the unnecessarily frustrating hoops one must go through just to take a simple exam with them. Also be aware that their website is not representative of the actual testing center; the actual place and its staff are totally different from what's shown on the website. read more

I took my first online exam here and loved it! I emailed Andy with Bay Area Testing Center and he responds to my emails quickly. The testing center is conveniently close to my home, is quiet, and comfortable. They were very accommodating to my work schedule mixed in with Exam dates. It's a lot more affordable than most testing centers like Sylvan. I would highly recommend this center to anyone looking for a good proctor center in the area. read more

Comfortable place to take a test but there was a scheduling mixup and I had to take my test at a later date than what I had been told. I have come to this place since 2012 and each year I have come it's gotten worse and worse. They used to be very flexible and affordable and customer focused. Now they have increased their prices and they are starting to charge you for everything so they obviously only care about making money (25 cents per page printing and they only print on one side of the paper). Not to mention their hours are very inflexible. I would recommend you use your local library for proctoring. It will be the same price and you will get much better service. I just did my last test at this center and I won't be returning. I predict soon they will be charging 50 dollars an hour, charging you 2 dollars to sharpen their pencil and rent an eraser... and that is obscene. read more
