Yes, you can sneak in and easily sneak out but we attended the fellowship coffee and snacks after the service and felt very welcomed. Candy the pastor's wife is a real authentic genuine Christian that shines! We attended their international student ministry weekly dinner and then their Thursday morning Bible study! In the few days we were there we felt very connected and wished we lived there all year around. The pastor and wife as well as the church members are truly a family anyone can easily become a part of because they all shine the light of Christ each in their own special way! It still has some of its original interior. You can tell that it been rebuilt along the way with expansions. The church offers two Sunday services during the summer months, and the pastoral staff and congregation are very open, friendly and welcoming to visitors. Seems like a nice place to have a wedding if you plan to have an Outer Banks type of wedding.

Our family of 6 have been recipients of the church's hospitality: home-cooked breakfast on Mother's day and Father's day, encouraging text messages throughout the week, Men's ministry outings, women's conferences and fellowships, Biblical sermons, church picnics and other social seasonal gatherings. It makes you aware of something hidden or not fully understood about another person's feelings, intentions or nature. It is allowing the person to look deep into the Holy Spirit. This deeper connection enlightened eyes to describe a deeper understanding of spiritual truth inside our heart. I noticed myself giving the "thats's right," "amen," and "c'mon now, preach" quite often, accompanied with appropriate head nod and hand clap ;) We missed the beginning part of the praise and worship, but from the closing Christmas song they did, I imagine it's wonderful. Full band with it's own brass session? Always appreciated. And the lead singer's voice was beautiful. The church houses a predominantly black congregation, although the atmosphere is unusually casual. A refreshing deviation from the "Sunday's Best" style accustomed to many of the black and southern churches I've been to in the past. Not that either is better - I just like my jeans and sneakers. The inside of the building mirrors something similar to a cross between a gym and an industrial building. Nothing you would call modern by any means, but definitely large enough to hold a good capacity of people. We sat in the balcony, which was a little bit of a drag because I had difficulty hearing at certain points in the sermon. Adding a few monitors upstairs could be an easy fix for this problem, however. And probably my main suggestion for improvement. All in all, I enjoyed my worship experience at C3 (as they call it). If and when I'm ever back visiting in Hampton for the weekend, I'll be sure to stop in again.

The bulk of the body is 20 and 30 somethings, but there is a solid group of 'grey hairs' there to impart wisdom and mentor those of us who desperately need it. Redemption teaches mostly expositionally. During the summers they typically pick an overarching topic to preach through. The members are friendly and inviting and they have community groups in multiple cities in the area that allow for deeper relationships and great friendships to develop.
