She is now on her last months at this preschool. She will be starting kinder in the fall and it's a bittersweet feeling to have to say goodbye to this place. Our son is always excited to go to school and comes home happy and full of energy. What we appreciate most is the balance the school provides. He gets a great mix of instruction, physical activity, imaginative play, and opportunities to explore on his own terms. The teachers clearly believe in the kids' abilities and create a supportive environment where children are encouraged to try, experiment, and grow in confidence. She and her other teachers took great care of my daughter. When Ms. Kathy joined the amazing team there as my daughter's teacher, it was clear that she truly loves working with little ones. She came up with adorable and educational activities for the littles and also was very detailed during handovers which helped me feel there was great communication. Also, all the toys, furniture, play equipment, and safety measures are top notch. We would have loved to stay and are so sad that our time at Cultivate had to end but it just made more sense to move my daughter to the school I work at once she turned two. They take great care of our baby and always create a warm and loving environment. We really appreciate their communication -- they provide daily updates and photos, which allow us to see what he is learning and how he is doing throughout the day. The classroom is spacious, clean, and well organized, and the outdoor playground is a wonderful space for children to explore, play, and develop new skills. The teachers plan many fun and educational activities, including singing, dancing, drawing, and other hands-on activities that help children learn and grow. They have also helped our baby build daily routines and become more independent. When our baby first started daycare, he had a hard time adjusting and often looked for comfort from the teachers by asking to be held. The teachers were always so patient and loving -- they would pick him up, comfort him, and provide the sense of security he needed while he was getting used to his new environment. They were also very understanding when he had difficulty sleeping on the toddler nap cot. Instead of forcing him to adjust right away, they first allowed him to nap in the infant classroom crib where he felt comfortable, and then gradually helped him transition to the toddler nap cot. Their patience, flexibility, and support made a huge difference. It has been wonderful to see his growth -- from struggling with daycare at the beginning to now happily walking into school every morning and coming home with a smile. We are truly grateful to have such loving teachers who care about our child's development and happiness. We saw the progression through the infant, transition (2-2.5 years old), and older kids' rooms. We liked the progressive rooms so the kids could be with others their own age, and we always felt comfortable that our children were safe. We could see the significant learning our little ones were coming home with and liked the daycare's Facebook pictures and email updates that made us feel included in the process. We found the daycare was also very accommodating and reasonable in working with us. There are also two playgrounds so the kids can play with others their age. You may not see the size of the outdoor playground areas from the front entrance so I'd recommend checking them out if you're touring when considering sending your little ones here. I quickly scanned some of the reviews on here and there's the typical Yelp mix of very happy reviews or complaints. I have to say that a few of the comments with complaints were people who toured but didn't actually attend the school and some reviews seem like they were meant for a different daycare as they do not align with what we saw firsthand over the last three years. After our positive experience, we'd recommend parents go tour the facility if they are looking for a daycare.

Very often I find Reggio inspired schools are founded on aesthetics vs. education in San Diego, that is not the case here. The staff and director truly care about Reggio principles and bringing its curriculum to our community. The staff are always friendly and focused with the parents and kiddos which I really appreciate, they have really good energy when working with the kids, you can tell they have a real passion! They're also very involved which I like, they want the parents to be active participants in their kids education. One huge reason I love this place is because they teach developmentally appropriate curriculum that emphasizes social skills and emotional literacy, which is what our kiddos really need to be learning at this age. Overall you can tell that the curriculum is geared on child development research, something I think really sets them apart from other facilities I've been to. I also have to give a shout out to the teachers for teaching Spanish in class! I've been able to talk to my nanny kids in Spanish a lot lately because they have been doing Spanish lessons in class. The classrooms are always really clean, and the director has been working on making the space super child-led and really beautiful, the playground outside is really fun for the kids after pickup! The facility is beautiful and spotless and they have really wonderful hygiene policies that have resulted in a lot fewer sicknesses than our last preschool. They helped us quickly get our son enrolled when I had to return to work from maternity leave and needed childcare right away. The administration was on top of everything and made the process so much less stressful. One of our favorite things is that they send photos throughout the day so we can see what our kid is up to. A special shoutout to Ms. Michell, who has been absolutely wonderful. She is kind, patient, and you can tell she truly cares about the kids. Hillcrest Preschool were the first people we trusted our babies with, they were supportive and patient as they dealt with this very anxious mom. The value is high quality, both of my children were noticeably becoming social butterflies, their vocabulary expanded and one even came out potty trained!
