The insurance company had/has my rehab coverage end date, the stopping of coverage, as today August 30th. This is documented on the paperwork. The rehab facility was demanding I stay until the 31st or they would do as they did and A.M.A. me. (Against Medical Advice). This is a debatable and fraudulent claim on their part. I met with the determining physician and was cleared to leave. That alone ends any claim of going against medical advice. I wouldn't have the help I needed to pack up, load my possessions, and deliver them on Monday, NOR TODAY. All of what I needed was available yesterday, August 29th. Now, knowing that my coverage to be there ended today, this means any additional time billed after today and the time bill/notified, would be MY RESPONSIBILITY. I don't have the money, $335, for the uncovered day and the costs of the transportation needed to get to and from dialysis. This would have been billed to me by the rehab facility as insurance will not cover those charges with a notified end date of today, August 20th. Now, add that on Monday I scheduled an additional dialysis session for yesterday, August 29th, I also notified PERSONALLY TO HER FACE, Linda the Facility administrator/manager/head-honcho/top-dog/she-who-runs-everything, that I had that session for yesterday scheduled and needed transportation to Davita for dialysis and back to the facility. She, HERSELF, said it would be handled and I would be there with further issues. WHY "NO FURTHER ISSUES"????? Glad ya asked! See last week I missed my dialysis session because of no transportation. I learned I didn't get transport for that session because the facility DIDN'T PAY THE BILL!!!! They didn't pay the transport company, so my health was placed at risk and needed, MUCH NEEDED TREATMENT, didn't happen because they didn't pay their bill. So when LINDA, the Facility Manager/Administrator said there would be no further issues, can you imaging my surprise and frustration when AGAIN NO TRANSPORTATION ARRIVED TO TAKE ME IN FOR DIALYSIS TREATMENT? As a result of this AGAIN, I had to call my dad to come pick me up and take me to dialysis. I lost all and complete trust at that point and could not believe any further claims nor promises made by the facility staff or administration. So desperate they were to get that last day of billing, they made offers to allow me to have the room to myself for that next day and a half. Not that they wouldn't bill me for the extra day at the cost of $335 minimal, but that I could have the room without a roommate. There was no concern for my health nor apology for jeopardizing it AGAIN, no guarantee of not being billed for their extra day and transport charges, nothing, just that they wouldn't force a roommate on me. This after all the bugs and insects that were in the room and running across the floors constantly. The leaving of patients in the halls having soiled themselves, the gases from the sewer lines bubbling up into the rooms to where I vomited several times from the experience, the unacceptable wait times for call lights to be answered and then when FINALLY answered the staff shutting off your call light FIRST (because it's the metric administration uses to supervise/analyze service response times) and then what you needed never being handled. I can't tell you the amount of times I was left in my room, in agonizing pain having pressed the call button then requesting a pain medication that I very much needed. Mind you I have chronic pain, a severely damaged spine, and A GIANT OPEN PAINFUL WOUND ON MY THIGH, to be told, "the nurse is coming" , hitting the call button every ten minutes after that, getting told the same thing because GOD FORBID they help a patient, to take the 30 seconds to bring me one pain med and go back to dispensing meds to the rest of the hall as they SLOWLY AND LAZILY take their time getting to my room. They wanted me to stay, pay for an extra day with funds I don't have, be in pain (which I haven't been since I left there), struggle to pack, endure the bugs/insects crawling all over the floor, the disgusting conditions and lack of care by the aides (Mike and a couple other nurses were fabulous and absolutely worth their weight in gold and should be highly commended for doing their jobs while going above & beyond), and the constant lack of care present? So, after being taken to my dialysis session yesterday by my dad, having gone back to Hillside to sign my medications out, I was A.M.A.'d which causes me problems DUE TO THEM NOT DOING THE JOBS NOR FULFILLING THEIR OBLIGATIONS TO THEIR PATIENTS. I will be fighting this and everyone will know the true conditions and lack of adequate care. How they jeopardized my health on a couple of fronts, and the atrocious conditions that they would go from room to room HIDING WHEN THE STATE ARRIVED.
