Pretty building and good inside. Good friendly service and reasonable food choices. Seems focused on food rather than pub but recommended if you want to eat better quality pub food. Located to the ocean side of village read more

We passed a few hours in the left hand side bar…read more The decor is quaint and atmosphere good. The bartender was top notch, very professional when preparing the drinks. He knew to put cucumber in the Hendricks Gin and Tonic ;) But the rest of the service was lacking, our table had all the plates from dinner just left taking up space for a long time. Eventually we moved it ourselves and handed them to the floor staff that came in to deliver someone elses food. The barman cleared the table of empty glasses whenever he got the chance, but it was fairly busy in the bar for him to clear all the glasses all of the time. I didn't eat here on this occasion, but the people I was with who did thought it was good food and reasonably priced. We came back the next day to eat, but there were no free tables. So I never got to try the food for myself. Another thing that annoyed me is how far away the ladies was, on the first floor and down a corridor. While the gents is a mere meter or two from the bar we were in. Typical old school planning. All in all I've experienced better, the decor and bartender made up for it.

Vastly superior to Travelodges though sometimes almost as cheap, or even cheaper when they offer special deals (three nights for the price of two, etc). The rooms are clean, spacious and comfortable, with plenty of storage and a superior standard of furniture and fittings. Our room had a telephone, large flat-screen TV, tea and coffee making facilities with lots of teabags, hot chocolate and fresh biscuits each day. In addition to the large bed was a plush two-seater settee. The en-suite had a large power shower and, again, the tiling and fittings were of a high standard for a budget hotel. There's a modern lift to rooms (very good disabled access), beautiful carpets and curtains, and a foyer with local information and a sweets and chocolate machine. Breakfast came free with the room rate and was served across a short walkway in the Jack Rabbit pub. It consisted of a continental-style buffet with an excellent choice of cereals, fruit juices, fresh fruit, yoghurt, breads, toast, preserves and croissants. A machine provided good quality teas or coffees. You can eat as much as you wish and there are helpful staff on hand to assist if need be. A free newspaper (Daily Mail) was also available each day. All in all, a superb value package at only £89 for 3 nights (the special offer this month)! Certainly a chain to watch - there are 200 branches around the country and more planned.

The rooms were small and the bathroom a disgrace. You could not turn around. The hotel was a maze of corridors and lifts was dodgy and you could barely fit 2 people in it. The standard of cleaning was poor. The staff on the other hand were nice, friendly and helpful. The dining room was waiter service but the hours of eating were very limited. The food itself was quite acceptable but portions were small. this was not immediately apparent as the food was served on small plates. From our experience this is hotel to avoid. It was in its a favourable location on the seafront and only a few minutes walk to all of Paignton's amenities. The Hotel entertainment was a low standard. Bingo most nights followed by a live entertainer Because of the design of the hotel we would suggest it is not suitable for the disabled.

The lobby is beautiful, the staff couldn't be nicer and more accommodating, but the room itself is just....bad. It's old-it smells, everything is minimal and out of date. It was huge, but we only had wifi if we were sitting on the bed. The balconies were closed and the toilets were the slowest flushing things in the world. Honestly? I wouldn't be back until the rooms get renovated. The hallways were gorgeous and was super excited about our room-but unfortunately it is stuck in 1970-and not in a nice way

Get into the room and the view is brilliant but it's really old fashioned and looks like it hasn't been done up in 30 years, the bed was very comfortable but i had a sense that the sheets were not fresh, breakfast in the morning was 30 minutes late and cold, they managed to make a few mistakes with the order and some of the food could of been sitting around for a week . The customer service was helpful but not very fast. Overall I think it's somewhere which needs a bit of a spruce up and a more organisation. Would recommend only if you can get a very good deal and a room with a view, apart from that you could try looking at other hotel, The other half of our group had a room on the bottom floor which they could not change. Their shower leaked and flooded the bathroom, they woke up to an infestation of Woodside and spiders in their bed and the breakfast was totally wrong and made them sick. We were able to get a small discount but nothing acceptable for the night they had. Awful experience for them

All we really wanted was a good night's sleep in a comfortable room while we visited friends in Devon, and that's exactly what we got, plus a decent shower, clean bathroom, good air conditioning and a peaceful atmosphere. It's also really handy for the racecourse and the Sunday morning car boot sale, and there's a big Tesco across the road if you need supplies. What might we change? More towels, please! I can think of quite a few four-star hotels that this Premier Inn would put to shame, and we didn't spend a fortune on the room, either. We skipped breakfast, but it's available at the adjoining Beefeater Grill. Parking is also very good.
