If all you are looking for is a bed and a locked hotel room door*! This is the place. The folks running it seem to be nice but really knew nothing about the town. Meaning they asked me why I was visiting and I said the The Pumpkin Festival being held in downtown! Blank stare and then asked me what was going on in which I explained that since about 1968 the town had a very large 4 day festival in downtown and again I was asked where! Well the only real landmark since I can remember is the Dairy Queen located right on Main St. and the area where the Festival is held. At which time they wanted to give me direction to the Dairy Queen which I already knew along with the Festival. EEOKAY moving on. As you enter the hotel off the lobby you get that sweet sanitized smokey smell you get when you enter a hotel that allows smoking on one side of the hall and not the other. My room was clean albeit for the most part did not look nothing like the "website" photo's that made it look a lot nicer than the other places I didn't stay at! Decor is late 80's looking wallpaper with a flowerdy border. Almost all the seems of the wallpaper in my room were peeling and or bubbled open. AC ran all the time even with it being 40 degree lows and 60 highs outside the room never really cooled of... At all.. Very nice purple 1980's recliner, No coach as pictured on the website. As said by another review if someone was in the room above you plan on hearing there feet walking all the time. The bathroom honestly had the smallest toilet of which I ever sat on. Which was barely there at all and admitted I am a big guy but that stool was.. well.. tiny. Shower curtain had mold and mildew on it. It looks to be a completely family run facility with several members of one large family cleaning, and working the desk area. It also includes an indoor pool and also a washer and dryer. If you noted above my denote about "locked hotel room door*" The rear entrance to the hotel itself seemed to be unlocked all hours of the night! I was in town for 4 days at the Festival and routinely didn't get back until Midnight 1 or 2 AM and it was never locked. So your hotel room door was locked but not the HOTEL itself. Wi-Fi not really sure but the entire time I stayed it would take up to 4 times and maybe a reboot to get onto the hotel Wi-Fi! Not putting the blame completely on the hotel buuuut never had the issue before nor since I have left. Well I stay here again? More than likely NO!

    Just a decent hotel.

They did a great job carving a hotel out of a historic building. My favorite part of this hotel is the fun bar in the basement. My second favorite thing is the coffee shop on the ground floor. It is so nice not to have to drive for a nightcap or your morning cup of joe. Cornerstone is an exciting part of the rebirth of downtown Washington. It's way more fun to stay here than some corporate motel!! PS. Wife wanted fluffier pillows.

I wish I had seen the review about room seven! I would've requested to have any other room. We got room seven, and had a similar, but maybe worse experience than the review we read about it. Not only did we hear voices until late in the night outside the window, but trucks and vans, etc. loudly going by honking screeching, etc. The windows in room seven are so thin you can hear anything from the outside. Additionally, the windows that are inside the room facing the inside hallway light up your room all night long. If you're going to stay there, please, please, please remember your sleep mask! We were there for five nights, and never saw another person working there. We had to contact someone via phone for Internet service, for the code to get in after 8 PM, and for additional clean towels. I really felt that it was done on a extremely thin shoestring budget. One more item, if you are the least bit immobile, do not consider this place. There are many steps in and out, and up and down to the breakfast room. The steps are very steep and narrow. I would probably not recommend it to anyone over 40 years old.

This hotel was very clean, high marks to the housekeeping staff!…read more I also thought the front desk associate was very friendly and professional. There was a false fire alarm while I was there, wasn't her fault, probably not anyone's fault, but she did a good job of getting it resolved as quickly as she could. I thought the bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet, I like that they provide pillows with a variety of firmness, I was able to sleep well. The bathroom was clean, I really like the JR Watkins toiletries provided--that's a brand I use at home because they are high quality and and cruelty free. Only real downside was the lighting, it was rather dim overall and especially in the bathroom, which makes doing your makeup a little challenging. As others have mentioned, there's no mini-fridge, this was not a big deal for me as I was only staying one night. There are several fast food places nearby, including an Arby's and Cracker Barrel which practically share a parking lot, and a Dunkin' across the street--handy if you want to grab a coffee before you hit the road. There are other dining choices in Morton, although not as many options as you'd find if you stayed in Peoria. There are also gas stations, a Kroeger, and a Walmart close by, so if you need to pick up any essentials or fuel up, that's really easy to access. The location is very convenient, easy to get on and off of I74. Overall, this was a really nice stay, I would recommend it and would stay here again.

A lot of cleaner type services were covered with the allergy label- filtered shower water, hepa air purifier, non scented sheets, no pets allowed (huge one for me!)... I was so thankful. Our room was great! It was spacious and they upgraded us to a view of the river / lit up bridge that my kids loved! There was reception with two free drinks and snacks, they seemed to be low on the chips next to the salsa. There wasn't a lot of allergy friendly food, but I was able to get a drink! We had great service when we forgot a few things late at night and they were very prompt and helpful. The lobby is absolutely beautiful and a fantastic place to catch up with family or play a game. There is sooo much mingle room. The fountains were a little dirty and everything in general seemed to need a tune up. At one point the elevator door wasn't working but it was promptly fixed. The bed in our room was comfy, though th allergy liner kept coming loose. The workout room was pretty nice with towels and a great variety of different machines and free weights. Definitely above par from your normal moderate hotel. My two main concerns were breakfast and shower soaps. As someone with allergies and skin issues I usually bring all my own items for shower, but occasionally my husband will use the on the wall soaps... the allergy friendly room was marketed as no harsh smells, but that definitely wasn't true for the soaps on the wall! Holy cow, it was pungent, and even when hubs walked around after it was wafting off him and permeating the bathroom. It was super disappointing and for someone with breathing issues; it was overpowering. Second... i called ahead of our trip to talk to the person that runs breakfast or to have an allergy menu sent and was told they don't have one and that I would be fine and there were lots of options... When we stayed with Drury they had an allergy menu online and a QR code posted by the food. For a hotel marketing to allergen folks, to not have an allergen menu available is insane. When my very hungry 15m old came down to breakfast with me we had to ask someone restocking the buffet about safe food and she told us to stand in the 5-7 person line to ask about food... so holding my impatient and hungry baby, we waited for the man to cook 5-7 omelettes, waffles, etc. we got up to the front and explained our situation (dairy, peanut, soy, almond allergies... anaphylactic ones) and he was listing off various things we couldn't have and seemed completely out of touch with how serious this was. Wouldn't want you to try that... that cough have peanuts... I could make you an omelette in this pan after I clean it out (as there is actively cheese being dumped into it). No. Way. He don't consult labels at all, didn't reference any supporting information, just seemed to be going from memory. Completely unacceptable. Grabbed some Cheerios, fruit and bacon (he said it was safe) for baby and ate somewhere else. She reacted to the bacon from cross contamination. My baby has a rash on her face is going to be up all night screaming from pain. Before this incident I was thankful and excited for a hotel taking allergies seriously...

They put us in a lower room despite my profile clearly stating I prefer upper rooms. The room smelled musty. The floor was sticky. The bathroom was tiny. The toilet paper holder was falling off the wall - nearly no water pressure at all. Crappy towels. All of this could have been forgiven and resulted in no review from me IF ANY SERVICE AT ALL EXISTED. Check in took a long time - mostly waiting on the two people having a conversation behind the desk. Although daily housekeeping was part of the rate, it never happened. The 'restaurant' is in a weirdly remote and hidden spot. The service at the restaurant was non-existent - no one to seat us (so we finally sat ourselves), and no waitress or hostess ever acknowledged or approached us and we finally just left. This is more of a Motel 6 Inn than a Marriott property. The hotel location was great (and the reason they got any stars in my rating. But, the lack of service and decaying ambiance does not warrant the cost. Find another hotel to stay in when visiting Peoria.
