I've been to Bayou Escape Rooms twice for birthdays! Both rooms were great! We did the Solvit Funeral Home most recently! And we did the high school reunion a few months before. Both are fun and solvable! Solvit was fairly easy if your looking for something for older kids or teens. The rooms are fun and the workers are helpful. EDIT: As of today, 25 February 2022, management did refund my money and apologized for the "miscommunication". My husband and I had a reservation for 1300 today. On the way, his filling came out and was in pain. We pulled up and walked in to cancel since I'm trying to get him to the dentist. I told this to the clerk. She said she would call the boss about a refund. She returned and said we could reschedule or get a gift card. I explained we don't live here; we're stationed in Cuba and just passing through today. She still offered either a gift card or reschedule. Once again, we don't live here and those aren't viable options. We love escape rooms and looked forward to this one but life happens and there should be exceptions made in cases like this. I just want a refund of the activity we couldn't do. They shouldn't be allowed to keep my money for zero services rendered. Hopefully, someone will follow up with this bad decision by management. read more

So. Much. Fun! I absolutely love this place and will be returning for sure. We did the Great Mysto room for my younger brother's birthday, and it was great! The Mysto room is still new, so there are a couple of kinks (i.e. a lacking mechanism that need some elbow grease, not to spoil anything), but if anything goes not according to plan, they will definitely add extra minutes to your clock to compensate. I honestly expected to see some slapped-together puzzles that were not challenging in the least. (I dont have much faith in Louisiana's collective mental capacity.) I was, of course, pleasantly surprised! We only had nine seconds to spare when we completed all three rooms within the Mysto room. It's harder than you may expect! Very atmospheric, very immersive, and very fun. The only thing that takes you out of the atmosphere is if the folks in the control room (who are watching you and listening to you at all times in the rooms) talk too much over the intercom. But that's not too much of a problem because of the brilliant way they've contruscted the rooms and the excellent use of decorative materials. Bayou Escape Rooms is a brilliant addition to Lake Charles entertainment and a great way to challenge yourself. Video gamers will love it, too! Huge props to these folks. Although the room was challenging it did not quite live up to expectations. Prior to coming to these escape rooms we had tried escape rooms Louisiana (also in lake Charles) and the experience there was so much better and set our expectations high. Escape rooms Louisiana had a lot better quality rooms. Our room also had some locks that were left unlocked and weren't reset from the previous group that played the room so that took away from a lot of it as well. Definitely would recommend the other! read more

My family and zi really enjoyed it and we will try the other rooms too. The staff was very polite, patient and helpful.

I've tried both Escape Rooms in Lake Charles and the other one (Escape Room Louisiana) is better executed and more enjoyable overall. This one is ok but didn't have as good a flow & didn't seem as well thought out as the other one. If you haven't tried either then definitely do the other one first. read more

Excellent escape rooms! We did Dead and Breakfast and Boudreaux's Diner. The diner had some clever clues that made it even more fun. Our participants ranged from age 11 to 66. So I can say with confidence that it is fun for all ages. Would highly recommend! read more

We were a group of 4 with 2 others who joined us. We did the Mysto room, and I was super impressed with the level of the puzzles, and the overall theme of the room. The quality of the room was impressive: a monitor with time display, 3 free clues, and an intercom for the occasional question. We were challenged with the difficulty of the puzzles, and had a great time ~ even though we missed the time by a m minute or so. I would definitely go back!! read more

If this was my first time to do an escape room I'd still be disappointed. I've done many escape rooms. Escaped most, but I've been stumped before. This one had good ideas that were poorly executed. I did the Mysto room. At first it seemed like a good idea. But shortly into our time in the room, we realized the puzzle which we were to figure out was not set up correctly for us and we had to call for a clue to rectify the puzzle. OK. No biggie. Then we had to call again as we figured out a different puzzle, but it did not function correctly. And we had to get the attention of our room observer (via baby monitor) several times before she responded to help correct our situation. So not only were puzzles not operating correctly, we were losing time waiting to get a response from our observer. Every room I've ever done follows a story line. This one reads, "This is the secret room of The Great Mysto. His room is abandoned as the magician has disappeared during his greatest and last illusion! Find his last and best magic trick to find the secret behind his disappearance and ESCAPE THE ROOM!!!" You never discover his secret behind his disappearance or what his best and last magic trick was. It is simply an escape room with a magic motif. Everyone in my group was extremely disappointed with the functionality of this room. The staff was nice. Parking was not what you'd want, but suffice nonetheless. Some want try their other rooms to see if it just wasn't that one, but I'm not wanting to give them another go. Nice people, poor design. I feel like the casinos doing team training are the only way they are staying afloat. If you are a beginner, this might be your thing. Puzzles were challenging enough. Just seems like a little rental space slapped together to try and turn a buck on a good idea, but poorly done. Sorry to be so cynical, but wish someone had written something like this for me to read before I had gone. I would've saved money on driving out there. I give it 2 stars because the idea was interesting and thought was put into puzzles, but the functionality wasn't there, story didn't follow, and honestly, giving me numbers to plug without an order to solve problems gets me to feel like this was slapped together and not really beta tested. read more
