I recently rented a margarita machine from this business. When I picked up the machine the owner asked me if I already had a mix and I said yes, a good brand purchased at Specs in Galveston. He immediately gave me the evil eye and said no such mix could be used in his machine, strongly insinuating that he would not rent his machine without his mix. So I paid him $30 for a $10 dollar commercial mix that he purchased in Houston. When I "Googled" mixes for commercial margarita machines later at home I did not find any negative comments about using a name brand mix,(JC), in a commercial machine. I knew then I was scammed.
To add insult to injury when I got the machine home and examined it I found that the top was very dirty. Also when I tested the machine the next day it too almost two hours before the blend started to freeze when the owner had told me it would only take an hour. The machine is at least 20 years old and in dire need of replacement. When I returned the machine the next day in a pouring rain storm a different person was on the register. First of all he did not even get up to help me with the door and these machines are heavy. I had to balance the machine on my knee while I held the door open for myself and then lurched through the door. Later when I got back in my car I saw that the machine had leaked some type of brown liquid on the floor mat of my car and on my shirt while I was carrying it. When I asked for return receipt the cashier acted like I was requesting him to donate a kidney. I just wanted some proof that the machine was received back in good order so I would not be charged if someone else damaged it. There are other businesses in the general area that rent margarita machines and I recommend calling them first. read more
