Get what you need from The Big Store! When in the peninsula, you go to The Big Store for the stuff you didn't bring with you! Lines can get long, but just pick one and you will get checked out by a nice person! You can tell the locals by the way they interact with the store folks.

pineapples were on sale for 99cents today! my kids love pineapples! And they have this cool machine that cuts and slices them for you. We slice up a couple of pineapples and when we get to the checkout, they charge us $7.99 for each one. I show them that they are on sale for 99 cents. The cashier gets another cashier who says that sliced pineapple is $7.99. Nowhere on the machine does it say that. I ask for a manager- an older lady- who tells me that it's $7.99 regardless of the fact that the pineapple tag says 99 cents. Then I tell her that she should probably label the machine so everyone knows if you buy a 99 cent pineapple, they will charge you $7 for a machine to cut it. She tells me that she's not interested in doing that And it's too bad! She is SO rude to me. Honestly, awful service! I hope the owner reads this review and at the very least; puts a sign on the machine.

Fat Andy's -- First Visit Review…read more Fat Andy's has taken to social media to promote their product, and the posts feature Andrew, who must be our very own Fat Andy. We decided to take an early lunch and head over to Santa Fe to give the place a go. The establishment presents as clean and friendly, with a bit of an unfinished, "there is more to come" vibe. It feels like a good startup should. Andy was manning the counter and seemed to genuinely enjoy engaging with customers as they ordered. He pointed out the specials a few times as we grazed the menu selections. The hot pastrami had its very own sign, so I took that as a sign. I like a good pastrami. We picked out a table and waited for our food. After a short while, we heard our name called and I retrieved the wrapped sandwiches. The missus had the half turkey, and I went with the full-size hot pastrami. Now, before I go too far, my first instinct was to order the monster signature sandwich called "The Fat Andy." I did have that pang of guilt at first, thinking I really didn't want to be Fat Jeff anymore, so I thought better of it. The sandwiches were good. The ingredients were fresh, the lettuce was crisp, and the peppers on my pastrami were absolutely a winner. No disappointment there at all. The portions were healthy, and the side of pasta I chose was spot on with its mix of ingredients and the tang of the dressing. The sandwich bread, or hoagie rolls, were solid and appeared to be fresh. All of that being said, we found Fat Andy's to be a good value. For some critique -- and I go back to not ordering the signature sandwich, which looked from the menu description to have some special touches -- the sandwiches we ordered on this first visit were made with the same type of ingredients one can buy at most deli counters featuring Boar's Head products. The bread was good, but not fancy, and did not seem to contain anything especially unique that made it feel like a signature sandwich experience. Now don't get me wrong. Even with great ingredients, there is skill in putting together a good sandwich, so I am not discounting them on where they source their products. But a true deli sandwich experience requires something that makes the place stand out just a little. Aside from the great personality Andy brings to his customers, the sandwiches on this trip did not make me feel like they stood above most other good deli sandwiches. That said, I live a very short drive from Andy's, and I hope to watch it grow. I also hope to experience more of the fun Andy seems to be having by sharing his food and his creations with the community. I encourage everyone to give Andy a shout and tell him Jeff sent you. And next time, I'm going in for the Fat Jeff... Uhh, I meant to say "The Fat Andy."

My husband ordered the Reuben and, on the other hand, he really enjoyed his and had no complaints, which is part of why I've given a slightly higher overall rating. The service and atmosphere were fine, but based on my experience with the food, I personally wouldn't return. Lots of good options on the menu, and I was craving their famous cinnamon roll pancakes, but then a server brought out migas to a table and I immediately knew I wanted that instead. Here, it's a little opposite from most places, you gotta pick your seat first then order as the seats, especially the tables, are hard to come by at times. There are plenty stools along the window but the tables are better and most tables are family style so you'll likely be meeting someone new. I also added a chocolate bread pudding for myself which looked really good. The rest of my group ordered the granny's breakfast with sausage, 2 scrambled eggs and Benny's tostadas. I had one bite of the biscuit and gravy and it was so bad that the stray cat that jumped on our table did not even want it, but it could have also been because of all the flies because the little fly fan at our table did not work but it also might have been from the constant smell from the sewer drain located right in the seating area.
