Made a recent return to Bayside Garden Center, and I gotta say we really love this place. The yearly tradition to get our Xmas tree is wonderful, but even our regular visits throughout the year are always good ones. We popped by to inquire about grass-seeding, and their team is very knowledge! We're hoping to improve our lawn by doing some pre-winter work, followed my spring re-seeding. We gathered a few products that should prove to be helpful! We also love to graze through the gift-like items inside, especially around this time of year. They've started putting our unique holiday item and fun ornaments. Plus, there corner selection of gifts for kiddos is always great. Of course we didn't leave empty handed, as my house needed a few mini xmas trees to add to the decor, and we even grabbed a fun little 'reindeer' game we'll definitely play with the family this season. Planning to come back for a wreath in the coming weeks (they have big and beautiful ones). Highly rec supporting this local garden center if you get the chance. read more

I love the plant selection at Bayside Garden Center and this year we got our first live Christmas tree from there and it's really beautiful. An employee at Bayside sawed the trunk for us, put the netting on, and strapped it to the top of our car- it really saved us the hassle of doing it ourselves! A couple of disappointments I've had with Bayside are: I applied for a part-time job there a couple of years ago and had spoken to a few different employees. I went in a few times to follow-up. I also made phone calls to follow-up. The manager never got back to me and no one ever called me back. Very disappointing at the time. Also, I have shopped here a lot and purchased multiple things from plants, to plant stands, to gardening tools, etc. I bought a pair of $20 pruning shears for my mom who has arthritic hands and the shears broke on the first use. I went to return them the next day, I didn't have my receipt but they remembered me, and they said I could not return them without the receipt. I was very annoyed. read more

This a lovely garden center. We came many times this summer to pick out plans for our landscaping project. It was entertaining for my toddler as they have lots of fun statues to enjoy. They have quite a variety of products (more than you can see from the road), and the quality seems great. This is a great nursery. Also, a great place to get some seasonal photos with your littles (large selections of hydrangeas in the spring, pumpkins in the fall, etc)...and a great place to look for butterflies with toddlers. read more

Although I don't live in the area any longer, I have been a customer here for over 15 years. I have been in person less than a handful of times. Most of my orders I've called in. I don't pretend to be a plant/flower expert, so I leave it to the professionals literally. They ask me what I want and I say whatever you put together. I ask what a good budget is and they create within that. Things get delivered. Everyone I've purchased for has been really happy with the arrangements. No one seems to know how to transfer a call, but beyond that, this place had treated me right over the years. I'll continue to keep them on speed dial when I need something or someone cared for there locally. read more

My mom and brother (who live in Boise) go to a local nursery every year and purchase an African violet in memory of my grandmother. They were headed to their local nursery a few weeks ago and I decided to act in solidarity here in Milwaukee. Enter Bayside Garden Center. We arrived to find their greenhouse bursting with color. They have a wonderful selection of orchids and blooming lovelies of all varieties. At the very end of our greenhouse perusal, we found a wonderful selection of lush and velvety African violets. After selecting a plant, we went into their indoor shop to get a pot for the little lovely. Watering African violets requires care (their leaves don't like getting wet at all) and they have special self-watering pots for just such an occasion. We selected one (incredibly reasonably priced) pot as well as some special African violet potting soil. My violet is doing well and wonderful and blooming beautifully. Once our social distancing/isolation has passed, you're going to want to drop in for some lush and lovely life to add to your home or garden! I know I will! read more

After my experiences with Bayside Over the past two weeks, I have no interest in ever going to a different garden center. This place has everything. First, my sister gave me a gift of some awesome houseplants from Bayside. All are thriving and gorgeous. A week later, I went to purchase a Japanese maple tree as a gift for my friend. However there were so many wonderful plants in such good condition, that we ended up spending much more money, because the selection was so great. Unlike everywhere else, they actually had Japanese maples in stock. And a few different varieties. There were also several hoop houses, all with different categories of plants in them. I got a very unique evergreen, and a wisteria, along with a few strawberry plants in hanging baskets. The choices for pots and other accessories was absolutely outstanding! They also have a lovely selection of succulents and cacti. You can even get rare plants at this location. I cannot imagine having a gardening need that Bayside garden center cannot fulfill. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. read more

4 stars for the amazing selection and prices on houseplants. They lose 1 star because it's sooo far out for me. Like the location is not ideal but the selection makes up for it! They have generic houseplants but also carry a lot of uncommon and hard to find plants not in a majority of plant stores. I would follow the social media to get an update on the news fresh selections as well. The main room also has a lot of cute candles and decor things as well. Also it's not busy at all and able to distance from. They do have a recommended keep parties at a max of 2 ppl only which is good. read more

We drive 15-20 minutes to go to this greenhouse! We love it. The prices are great and not inflated and they have so much variety. Small succulents, pothos, jade, fiddle figs, everything. Bayside has an enormous selection of plants, trees, pottery & gardening supplies at fairly reasonable prices. Great little nursery, they have so many beautiful plants to choose from all looking really happy & healthy. A gardener's dream! Plants you never knew you even needed can be found here. Probably the most fully stocked nursery in our area. It seems silly to recommend a trip to a garden center but I'd bet this one will lower the blood pressure, relax those aches & pains in your shoulders while helping you to appreciate all that is fine with Mother Nature .So, go ahead & take the drive out to the Northeast corner of Milwaukee county & see for yourself. You won't be disappointed! I'm amazed at how much inventory they have. I will definitely come again. Thanks Bayside Garden Center for creating a sanctuary for us gardeners out there. I was sent on a mission to find some white potted flowers of a certain height. After trying Wal-Mart garden center and finding little useful, I tried the garden center at Menards. Nothing. Ok fine, it's the middle of March and garden centers are just starting to stock for spring. Really, I had to find a nursery. Bayside was the closest to me, so I gave them a call to be sure they were open. Until 5pm, they replied. So I trekked over and I'm so glad I did. I found more than a few potted white flowers that I could've used for my purposes. White tulips standing tall to greet the spring. Beautiful white mums, tinged with a bit of purple. Begonias surrounded by their green foliage. And the hydrangeas were so majestic. I wanted to buy them all. They all looked like healthy thriving well cared for plants. Spending even just ten minutes in their greenhouse cheered me up. In the end, I went with the white mums. The cashier added foil and a ribbon at no extra cost. She was friendly and I'd love come back throughout the seasons for more plants. read more

I contacted this place almost 3 weeks ago to get advice about my dying fiddle leaf fig. I was told to contact them because they could help if the plant needed repotting. When I called, at first the employee just kept saying I needed to water it. When I made it clear that I had already been doing that, she asked me to send pictures of my plant via email. I sent my pictures a few days later. After about 2 or 3 days, no one responded to my email. So, I called again and asked if anyone had seen the email. They said no and asked I send the pictures again to an email of a specific employee. I did that the same day and I STILL got no response. So, I called about 2 days later asking why hasn't the employee I sent the email to gotten back to me. The employee put me on hold to get the employee I emailed on the phone just to come back and tell me she had already left for the day. IT WAS 11 AM! Now, I have yet to get any help or advice from these people and my fiddle leaf fig has gotten even worse since I made my initial call. 0/10. Do not recommend! read more

I have shopped here for years buying hundreds of dollars in annuals each year. Service and quality has been great until now. I purchased 10+ flats of impatients and 3 weeks after planting they are almost all dead from Downey Mildew disease. They have had plenty of sun and regular water, so this is not an environmental issue. I've never had this problem before, I even used many new bags of top soil in the beds. All the research points to the fungus growing at the nursery. I called Bayside and they said oh well, your loss it is an airborne bug. We planted impatients only from this garden center, I cannot see how this is not their issue. So, use caution when buying plants. They don't come with any guarantees here and check under the leaves for any white residue or powder. That is a sign they plants look great now, but will die within a few weeks. They also infect the impatients around them. They all have to be ripped out and replaced (with plants from Minor's Garden Center). read more

On the plus side the starter cherry and grape tomato plants I purchased have performed really well. My problem is with the advice of the "expert" staff. When I purchased said tomato plants I asked if they had tomato cages. The response of the nursery employee was "for those little plants?". Since I was talking to a nursery professional I assumed she meant the mature plants didn't grow very big...surely the fact that seedlings you buy at the nursery get bigger with time is universal knowledge. At any rate, she talked me into buying small stakes instead. The plants are now 5 feet tall, too big to fit a cage around anymore, and dominating my garden. read more

Have had bad experiences here multiple times. From the woman working the Register who decides phone calls are more important than the customer standing at the desk, to the two tropical plants I bought that once I got home realized they were infested with aphids, to the lilac that I purchased that had been hit by a freeze and started to die and they would not refund my money for it. Not only will I not be shopping here but I also will not be sending my employees to shop here any longer for our landscaping business. This place is definitely overrated and there's much better garden centers in the area. read more

I am so impressed by Bayside's willingness to adjust to COVID-19. They have created a really easy online ordering system, with great curbside pickup. When I went to pick up today there were some folks who had not yet figured out the online ordering system, and the staff were very helpful to them in socially distanced ways. I called them and asked if they had Romanesco. They said they didn't have Romanesco plants but did have seeds. I biked there from Riverwest and they were out of them. They have a large variety of plants but some of them don't look very healthy (ex: the purple basil). They told me they would probably have Romanesco seeds again in about a week but I'm not going all the way back over there. read more

I have always considered bayside Garden the most experienced and knowledgeable of any garden store in this area. They have the widest variety of plants available. They are also the people I go to when i have a problem with a plant, whether it is bugs, disease or just in the wrong spot. They are also knowledgeable about picking a plant for problem spots like heavy shade. When I first became interested in bird feeding they were very happy to show which food and feeders for which bird. I have always thought that they are not chatters because they are very busy and hard working about their business. read more
