This place wasn't too bad, but then again it certainly isn't going down on my favourite pub lists. I guess that has something to do with a previous experience at this particular pub. Then again, coming back here I have to admit that it certainly wasn't all that bad, and the atmosphere was actually quite reasonable. In fact, I found the place to be rather relaxing, and somewhat laid back, and it even had a rather nice beer garden. Bayswater's bistro, pub, gaming lounge and bottle shop is another one of those all-in-one venues that pop up in every suburb in Melbourne. With Bayswater the home of many keen punters, the gaming section is usually full of people betting on the horses, greyhounds, or just happy to feed the pokie machines. The bistro serves up food 7 nights a week, and does lunch every day between 12-2:30. The food is what you'd expect from a suburban bistro, with meat being the main article. As a vegetarian, I have a choice of potato wedges, a bowl of chips, garlic bread, or a risotto. With my past 'bistro risotto's' tasting like water and stock, I choose not to eat here if I can help it. Last time I was here, we came down for the "Bogan Bingo" night. (I must admit that I had trouble telling if people had dressed for occasion or were in their normal gear). Anyhow, It was an absolute hoot, with the hosts turning a normal game of bingo into a rock n roll circus. The venue looks nice enough and the staff are very efficient and friendly. Unfortunately the food was really not very nice. 7 on our table and all agreed that all the meals we were served were well below average. Can't recommend it I am afraid. It has not improved at all since my last visit about 1 year ago. Very disappointed. read more

I booked a table for my family, as I had a birthday to celebrate with them. The service was disgusting we waited over an hour and a half for our food , the kids by that stage were ready to chew their arm off they were that hungry. Out of the 5 mains we got the only descent one was the I don't chicken tower burger. I won't be going back there in a hurry. We use to go ever so often and now with their new revamp it horrible. A small group of us just went for a night out, a feed in the bar, women in to the pokies and the boys in to the tab. In the bar service was good and staff friendly, food ranged from average to great and all were plentiful, the one down side was the men's toilets, a bloody disgrace. Bistro we didn't do but was spacious, a kids playroom and things seemed to be working smoothly. The gaming room is a good set up for those in to it, plenty of machines and the best part tables and comfy seats with tv's and an ebt for sports and racing while we wait for our better halves. Now to the downer of the night, the TAB....what a schemozzle, had to wait for staff, often had to wait as they were serving in the bar and deemed that more important, screens hadn't been updated for hours, there were races on them that were starting o/seas in 6 hours or more, the days form guides hadn't been removed and replaced, while Australian races were ignored, couldn't hear the races and to top it of staff had minimal knowledge of how to run the tab let alone how to change the channels to find the right races, spoilt the whole night for us. read more

Went there today with an elderley client for lunch, they bought out a huge roast dinner which was average but when my client was unable to finish her meal l asked for her meal to be put in a container so she could take it home for her dinner. But they refused saying they were not a take away. Really poor l think my client is a pensioner and was so upset to have to leave so much food behind that she had paid for. Will never go back again.
