In 2009 I required some emergency dental care and visited a clinic near my work. Not only could the dentist not pinpoint what my issue was, she claimed I had 4 cavities that required filling and wanted to drill right away. I held off (thankfully), and went to Dr. McDowell for a second opinion. He spent the time to explain my tooth pain, as well as gave me a check-up and declared I had no cavities, just some spots that could turn into decay if I didn't take care of my teeth in the future, saving me from a lot of uncessary pain and cost! This is an honest, friendly man that will take care of your teeth! Highly recommended. P.S. He also has a location in Uxbridge if this works better for you.

Never shame me when I often forget to wear my mouth guard or that I have some chips or degradation of my teeth given the condition of my bite. I was even late one time by around 15 mins and I felt terribly sorry and they were able to fit me in and never even showed any negativity, which I wouldn't blame them if they did! The minor fillings I had was done super quick and no pain, if at all, just minor. They were also very gentle with the cleaning compared to other places where I would be dreading to go. This place makes it feel more relaxing. They even have a TV mounted to the ceiling so you can choose a Netflix show to watch while you get your dental work done. Best part, when you check out with your payment, they help you submit to your insurance so you don't need to deal with the paperwork, which is just the best! You still need to pay first and it gets auto reimbursed from the provider to you. Now I'm not sure how their price is compared to others. Another neighbourhood friend asked where I go so I referred to this place but they said it was expensive because they're out of pocket and don't have insurance coverage.

Dr Lai takes his time to explain all the options available for my particular case and takes the time to discuss the pros and cons of each. He doesn't shame me for the amount of fillings I've gotten in the past, a result of poor upbringing and education as a child and an over aggressive previous dentist. He isn't pushy about drilling holes into my teeth, he always asks if its a real problem for me before he decides to do that and doesn't feel like he's trying to gouge me as much as possible. His hygienist is equally great! Extremely patient and thorough, she always makes sure that I'm comfortable and tells me what she's going to do before doing it. It takes a high level of trust to open one's mouth for a stranger to stick sharp metal sticks into, and sometimes some hygienists tend to forget that. Receptionist has been the same for a very long time. Excellent professional service and a delight to work with. I find the environment appealing without being too over the top. I booked an appointment and from the moment I walked in to the moment I left; I was thoroughly impressed. Walking into the dental clinic, I was amazed at how clean and modern it looked. I noticed there were tissue boxes and hand sanitizer available all over the reception area. There was a coffee machine if I wanted one and free wifi. Plus, the washroom was spotless! I came in for my initial patient meeting, x-rays and then a teeth cleaning. The hygienist named Nana was so nice to me. She took her time explaining every single procedure. She actually checked on me while doing the teeth cleaning to ask if it hurt or if I was comfortable. Moreover, she took her time and made sure to do a thorough cleaning. My old dentist office would rush through it like it was some kind of race. At the end, Dr. Maria came in and looked over my x-rays and explained to me what my next steps were. She made me feel like I was more than just a patient. She was looking out for my best interests and I could feel it. After I scheduled my next appointment, all the staff thanked me by name as I left. Due to a handful of factors (lapse in insurance, moving multiple times, a job that keeps me on the move) I had gone far too long without getting my teeth cleaned. I was googling potential places when my boyfriend suggested I try his dentist. Less than 3 minutes later I had a confirmed appointment that I was able to book using their online system. I was admittedly a little nervous when I went in having suffered at the hands of rancorous dentists in the past. My fears rapidly dissipated as Natalya worked on my teeth. I obviously needed a deep cleaning, but she was gentle and kind and made sure I wasn't in pain or uncomfortable. Dr. Morales then performed my oral examination. She informed me that I had a few cavities and some dicey pockets that would require seeing a periodontist; obviously not ideal, but she was kind and didn't make me feel ashamed. Rather, she worked with me in establishing a treatment plan and timeline that works with my insurance limitations and budget. (Gigi at the front desk was also extremely helpful in helping me understand the financial details and providing me the information needed to help plan out my treatment schedule.) I've been back a handful of times now and every time has been as pleasant and painless as before, and that really says something cause I've had a deep cleaning, a gum flap surgery, a root canal, and a filling. The entire staff is amazing. The girls at the front desk are always able to answer my questions regarding dates, prices, and procedures; Vanessa always makes me laugh even when I've got a bitewing x-ray holder in my mouth; and Dr. Sade made gum surgery shockingly painless. I try to see the good in establishments, pointing out where businesses can improve and what they did exceptional. Today I have the pleasure of writing about a journey to obtain something personal. An experience that is rarely experienced in life, and achievement of something I have wanted for a long time with little to no effort or pain on my behalf. It is rare to provide a review like this, and I hope you take the time to read my journey and appreciate what I went through. When I was 11 years old, my little brother and I got into an argument, and he threw a glass at me (kids right?). The glass shattered 80% of me right front tooth so that I could spend the next 30 years having people stare at it and make me feel subconscious about it. I would have to go every 3-5 years to the dentist to have them rebuild the tooth with a material that always chipped, would get discoloured with coffee, not to mention that for over 20 of those years, I was a heavy smoker (I have quit now!) I even had children at my kids' school call me "Yellow Tooth" to my face! It was quite humiliating. But every time I spoke to a professional, I was told the same thing: "We can re-build the tooth or put a false tooth in - one being affordable, the other being super expensive". I couldn't afford a false tooth... nor did I want to go through that. So, I would just have it rebuilt every few years and assumed that was going to be routine for the rest of my life. Until I walked into Dentistry on Thornhill Woods. They literally changed my life. Dr. Kent is an incredible dentist. He is very warm and even keel. He too has a great smile, and is very confident in his skills. He is a super competent dentist, and is very talented in what he does. He loves to take charge of the situation, and you can tell he instinctively knows what the right thing to do is. Most doctors try to rush you out the door so they can get to the next patient and make more money, but I never once got this sense from Dr. Kent. He is a methodical man that likes to take his time and do things right the first time, and you can tell that he instills this ethic in his staff as they are all patient, great listeners and are never in a rush to get you out the door. Nancy and Dr. Kent are really a dynamic duo that are hard to contend with. They always make me feel welcome, ensure I am comfortable and that I am an important client to the clinic. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I rarely do this, but I give Dentistry on Thornhill Woods a 5+ Star rating. They truly are perfect in every way possible.
