My sister's wish was to have fried chicken for her birthday and she got her wish today!! Ordered via Uber Eats. Meal arrived in good time. When it got here, the air was filled with beautiful fried chicken. it was even better when we ate. Ordered: - Cheese Balls - interesting concept these cheese balls - reminds me of the consistency of the sesame laughing balls in chinese dim sum but savoury, not sweet. - Soy Garlic Chicken - Fried chicken glazed with soy garlic sauce - quite tasty - Sweet Potato Balls - similar to the cheese balls except made with sweet potato and cheese - Secret Sauced Chicken - Fried chicken glazed with their secret Korean sweet sauce - Yummy! I live a mere 4 blocks from this gem. First, it's a massive tradeup from Gorillas Diner, which was a tragic shadow of the outstanding Little Lot Diner it replaced. I loved every morsel I had at Little Lot, but I've also loved every morsel I've had at bb.q. The mala chicken bowl is incredible- it's spicy but not in a Korean way, not a trace of gochujang, more almost...Jamaican? Pakistani? Strong chili flavour but also scrambled eggs that are soft and that melt in my mouth, pickled cabbage, perfect perfect rice- it's much better (yes, much) than at the similar (to the extent that they're both Korean chains, based in South Korea even) Hankki up the street and their own bowls. bb.q is better value and incredibly delicious. But today we got fried chicken, soy garlic (there are something like seven flavours) and just- wow. AMAZING. The garlic is pronounced and it's savoury sweet and just perfectly cooked. I also got the "fries with dip" and chose garlic mayo. Both were winners- the garlic mayo is reminiscent of the best Caesar salad dressing I've ever tasted. I'm not trying to oversell this place but it's just so gratifying to have something THIS GOOD and even to have opened, as of now, four locations in Calgary, three inner city. Go here. read more

I read about this new BBQ Chicken restaurant on 8 Street SW. There are 4 locations each with their own unique menu. I decided to try their Secret Sauced Chicken 1/2 portion $17.00. It was absolutely delicious . Sweet and spicy but not hot spicy just right. Good sized portion. As free sides, they gave me 1 free pickled radish 4 oz which comes with each order. It was very tasty and crunchy. Also, they gave me an extra coleslaw. The staff member, Alvina (I hope I got the name right) was very helpful, informative and very pleasant to deal with. She provided me with a lot of information and even though she was relatively new she seem to know quite a lot. A good indicator of good staff hiring and training. If you follow them on Instagram you can get a free order coupon for cheese balls. Other dishes include: Interesting fried & sautéed chicken cooked in a wok with mild to spicy sauce, original crispy chicken, soy garlic chicken, a variety of delicious wings, dishes over rice such as Jamaican chicken, Korean Soy Grilled and Spicy Korean Chicken, salads, burgers, and a special iron plate-Cheese Bul-Dak. They will be open for dine in Thursday, February 11/2021. The restaurant is very clean, comfortable decor and they serve liquor for those who would like alcoholic beverages. Tried this for the 1st time at the Midnapore location. We ordered cheese balls, golden fried chicken, gangneung chicken, chicken rice meals and fries. They were all great, fresh, tasty and crispy for both . Service was quick and friendly. Skip the dishes were busier than dine in considering it's Covid time, the only mistake was they forgot to serve the pickled radish as stated on menu and not checking on us whether we needed some things or so, but I get it, they're busy prepping their Skip orders. All in all, it was a good dining experience. read more
