    Soy garlic lunch meal

Cheap and tasty I got the lunch meal with soy garlic sauce and chili fries. Definitely not the best korean chicken I've had but I still enjoyed it.

Wow Chicken Lunch Special - the best way to have some chicken & fries!

I really like Wow Chicken, especially when I'm craving some fried chicken and really good fries. Pictured is the lunch special for $9.99 - 3 pieces of chicken (you can choose regular seasoning or upgrade to spicy/sweet for $1), a pop, and fries (which you can upgrade to bulgogi fries for $0.50 - you HAVE to do this bc the bulgogi seasoning is amazing). If we aren't doing the lunch special, we order half order of shallot chicken (comes with a honey mustard sauce, a container of shallots, 6 pieces of chicken), half order spicy chicken (it does get to be quite spicy by your 2nd to 3rd piece, but I love it regardless), a large bulgogi fries and a side of radish $1.99, which is super fresh. Their chicken is always super fresh, crispy and perfectly seasoned. Their servers have been friendly every time we've gone there. My only complaint is sometimes the service can be slow, even when they're not super busy, but it's something I can live with for those bulgogi fries!!

We were still hungry after our breakfast of pastries so we were on the hunt for something more substantial. I spotted Wow Chicken and their sign advertising KFC lunch specials sounded perfect. We walked in and ordered a box to go. Interesting that they have a takeout window (no one was manning it). Interior is modern and they actually have cute, comfy looking seating. Service was a bit odd; I think the lady told us to wait at the front after we ordered but we just sat down at a table and waited there instead. - 3 piece drumstick meal ($9.99) - one of their lunch specials. Comes with fries and a pop. Chicken was fresh, moist and not too greasy. Batter was satisfyingly crispy and the fries were excellent. 3.5 stars. They have a second location in Chinatown. Interesting that both are nearby/beside Quickly's, not sure if there's a connection?

I finally understood why men can't resist hot chicks because they are sooooo irresistible. I'm amazed at how these chickens are still so crispy when they are completely seasoned with the spicy sauce! Fried crisp on the outside, the meat is also juicy and falls off the bone tender! Bought chicken yesterday and warmed it up today and guess what ITS STILL FUCKING CRISPY!!! That is absolutely amazing. And the chicken is still juicy and delicious so whatever y'all doing keep doing it! 20/10 always recommend

Looking for some quick deep fried chicken that's a bit different from your regular KFC? Well, that's what wow chicken is for. Just ordered a boneless chicken meal with fries and pop. Worked out to be just under $10. Pretty good deal (ignoring twoonie Tuesdays at some other chicken vendor). The taste isn't for everyone though. It's a bit light on the flavor, and it's best to come with more than one person to order a bit more and share (though there really isn't any argument to leftovers). Personally, I prefer the spicy gang-geong wings with a bit more flavor, but I don't mind the original recipe. They seem to put a lot of time in the esthetics of the place including place mats, plates, wet naps branded with the wow chicken logo. I would be surprised if the bathroom also had toilet paper with the branding. (Kidding!) This place seems to see people in waves and can be a bit busy so just depends when you come by. The Korean music videos are a nice touch and a nice change from Taylor Swift. With the loss of Lido Cafe, it's nice to see another Asian establishment in the neighborhood.

I arrived in Calgary and wanted to try a quick spot for food. I decided to check this place out. If you are looking for parking, there's side street parking, but it's in quite a busy area of Kensington. The place was not crowded and the service was quick. I ordered a half order of the Gang Jeong chicken with the spicy sauce. The half order was more than enough for just me. The chicken was very crispy! For being a fast food type of restaurant, the chicken was delicious! The spiciness from the sauce made my mouth water and was quite spicy, but it was so good. I would recommend this place!

Had the Original recipe chicken - half and half so one half that was just the plain recipe with no sauce and the other half with soy garlic. Original recipe tasted and had texture of Popeyes chicken. Me who enjoys lots of sauce and flavour, I enjoyed the soy garlic. It wasn't drenched in sauce, just lightly dipped in it. Also tried their gang-jeong chicken which were very saucy and were popcorn chicken (boneless). They're spicy and sweet and a thick crispy layer of batter.

The exterior of the building appears that it is situated in an old house, which definitely adds to the charm. The staff greeted me an led me to a table on the upper floor. Immediately, I noticed that most parties in here were large and the portions were family style. Definitely something that I wish I had brought friends to and not just come in as a solo diner. However, the staff did not make me feel weird about this at all. I ordered a Lychee Time cocktail and a Rose Rice Cake curry. They brought out an included kimchee plate, which was certainly enough for 4 people. The Rose Rice Cake dish was the same, enough for 2-4 people to share. Both the kimchi and the curry were amazing, I enjoyed both immesely. My only complaint was that my drink was far too sweet, I had to water it down to finish it. When it came time for my inevitable leftovers, the staff had great suggestions for reheating and I was even able to purchase udon to go for the leftovers. Amazing homey experience that I would recommend to anyone in town (preferably with friends!).

My craving must have been intense because I didn't even think about it and started my long walk there. The layout of the restaurant is interesting. The bathroom is in the basement, the first floor is a bit small but has some tables, and the second floor has most of the dining area space. Interior decoration was pretty minimal but there was kpop playing and it was a bit dark in there so if you're looking to get a few drinks and Korean food with some friends, this would be a great spot. When I was sat at my table and I looked through the menu, the first thing that popped in my head was that they had quite an extensive menu. From army stew, bibimbap, bulgogi, and what I decided to get Dakgalbi (marinated chicken bbq). The Dakgalbi was really good and marinated well. I wasn't expecting the fried rice at the end to come with it like in Korea which was also really good. The only critique I have regarding the food is that there weren't that many side dishes (banchan) and the lettuce on the side was an extra $5. Service was on point. Thu and the woman server, I forgot her name, worked well as a team to make sure everyone was taken care of even though they had to walk up and down those stairs probably 10+ times just when I was there.

The inside is also rather small, they seat maybe 7 tables each with 2-4 people per table. There's tons of traditional Korean decorations everywhere. The staff is also all Korean and greet you in Korean. There's unlimited high quality purple bean rice. The sides are nothing to write home about other than the macaroni salad. They had an interesting take on it by adding imitation crab - I'm not sure I liked that part. Otherwise it's similar to the chain BCD tofu. The ever popular seafood pajeon (a pancake-like dish) is made extremely thick and therefore isn't crispy at all like pajeon normally is. I don't really recommend this item. Interestingly there's a bulgogi dish with vegetables and noodles (thin, clear). Makes the dish much more hearty. The flavor and quality was pretty good. Seafood tofu soup. They do a great job of making it spicy if you ask. The flavoring has that umami feel. Overall, not overwhelmingly amazing. A bit on the pricey side. They do have a very wide range of menu items and some pretty authentic items that aren't normally regularly provided in Korean restaurants. Service is fine - didn't meet anyone rude or anyone particularly amazing either.
