This is my absolute favorite beach in Maui. I have never eaten at the fish house despite it's great rep, but I saw this little cove from the road on my way back from haiku. I just had to stop and see the beach up close. So I pulled into the parking lot and asked the parking guys if I could just use the beach without being a customer and they said no problem! There is actually a thin path down around the restaurant that you could use to get down to the beach but I just decided to walk through the restaurant so I could check it out. Looked good. Smelled good. Very pricey. Anyway, no one really thinks to use this beach for swimming or sunbathing bc of the location but it's perfect! There are vacation rentals in front too. Chatted with owner and will probably stay there next time I visit the island. The restaurant isn't situated right up to the water so it's not weird either. There were about 3-4 others using the beach beside me. Anyway, this is the most beautiful hidden cove on the island for sure!

The area right outside Mama's Fish House is really beautiful. It provides wonderful views from the restaurant. A great place to take pictures or walk a little bit after your meal.

The Beach at Mama's Fish House. Beautiful place to hang out while waiting for lunch.

Nice beach, a bit crowded since it's right at Mama's Fish House. But a great place to hang out and snap some photos while waiting for your lunch table as long as it's not too windy. This beach can get quite breezy (it's less windy in the cove right outside the restaurant area).

When we went there was a big sea turtle sunning itself! Definitely real, and definitely cool.

    Beautiful day at Mama's beach.

Gorgeous beach view followed by a stellar meal, service and ambiance at Mama's. Loved this place - would give more stars if possible.

We visited on afternoons on weekdays, which could have contributed to how quiet it was. The few visitors at the park were bodyboarding or surfing peacefully. With the trees behind the shore, there's plenty of shade to share. Even on windier days, the hill behind the shore blocks the breeze from kicking up loose sand. Like many beaches on the island, the sand is soft as silk; however, the shoreline is murky from silt and there's a substantial layer of hard, fist-sized rocks to walk through you get into the water. Not so much the clear blue waves found elsewhere in Maui-- larger, cloudy waves here are better for bodyboarding than gentle swimming. TBH, just sitting and listening to the ocean is enough of a reason to visit. Though the waves are rougher and the water reaches quite high up the shore, there's at least a few meters of dry sand to lay your towels. There are rinsing stations, public restrooms, and trash cans at the entrance (grass side), but be mindful that there are a few transients camped out near this area.
