Our child has been in Room 3 since he was 2 years old, and it has been such a special experience for our family. Over the past two years we have watched him grow, learn, and gain so much confidence thanks to the amazing teachers. Also, all the teachers in Room 3 are incredibly kind, patient, and truly care about the children. They create such a warm, safe, and nurturing environment where kids can learn and thrive. The admin team and the other teachers are also so sweet and welcoming. Everyone at the school has always been supportive and caring. As parents, it means everything to know our child is loved and supported every day. We are so grateful for everything they have done, and we will always recommend this school to other families. read more

The teachers in room 1 were complicit in the violence and bullying of our 4 year old who has been: punched in the face, kicked, hit, pushed and teased at BCM continuously by the same kid over the course of the school year. He's also been pinned down and hit by other children. He's come home crying, missed a lot of school and woke up crying from having nightmares because of the bully. They started out as friends and then the bully began to get physical. It continued to escalate over time even after my wife spoke to the teachers who had no idea what was going on in the first place. My child kept getting hit and bullied so my wife asked the teachers to separate the kids. Then, our son got punched in the face. We were so patient and so understanding. My wife was a die hard supporter of our sons teachers in room 1. We trusted these people, this school, with the safety of our son. My wife reached out for help/answers multiple times, but they assured her everything was under control. However, they NEVER told the other kid's family and then lied to them when my wife had to contact one of the parents. They did not keep our son safe and he did not feel safe. They robbed the other family the ability to help their child navigate through any developmental needs by keeping this a secret. The owner and staff admitted guilt, wrongdoing and they apologized to us for concealing the matter from the bully's family - the history and the severity of the situation - that spanned six months. They waited until the end of the year to say that the bully was leaving the school - that was their solution to our little guy getting bullied and hurt for so long. The teachers in room 1 promised us that they would tell the bully's parents the truth but that never happened. We told them we'd finish the school year (last two weeks) and then remove him indefinitely. They apologized and said they were sad to see us leave the school but they understood we had to save our child. They apologized for not acting sooner. It could've been so simple, but it was too little too late. After my son got punched in the face on Monday, two weeks before school ends, more violence ensued on Tuesday. He got a bloody nose some how on Wednesday and, after our parent-teacher conference earlier that day, the teachers were distant to him. He cried and refused to go to school the rest of the week. He didn't understand why his teachers told him to go "bye bye" as we had not explained how he would be uprooted from his regular routine. The teachers and the room mom deleted my wife from the classroom app out of nowhere. That signified that regardless of the apologies and admission to being complicit in violence against our son - we were no longer welcome. My wife wrote a yelp review and the head of PTA threatened her and my 4 year old saying that he will be blocked entry into any other school in the area. She threatened our family saying will be blacklisted from the community and face legal action as well as other consequences. This grown woman, the head of BCM PTA, threatened my son and bullied my wife after our son has already suffered so much physically, emotionally and mentally. There has been an outpour of moms reaching out to my wife. Some genuine and some pretending to care while sharing their horror stories of Room 1 violence yet avoiding to be seen with our family in public. This school BCM, the teachers in room 1 and the head of PTA are an embarrassment to the private montessori education system. Don't punish my wife for protecting our child. Don't punish my 4 year old child for wanting to be friends with his classmates even if they bully and beat him. read more

There aren't enough thank yous I could say to express the deep gratitude we have for BCM. Both of my kids have truly thrived here--not just academically, but emotionally and socially as well. I still remember being amazed when my oldest came home from school reciting the order of the planets--at just 2.5 years old! Now my youngest comes home excited to tell me all the fun things they did and starts his stories with, "Mom, did you know...?"--and more often than not, I didn't! I've joked that BCM must be secretly preparing them for college with how much they learn at such a young age. And the most incredible part is that they're learning all of this while having fun! BCM truly feels more than just a school, it feels like a community - a family. The teachers and staff pour so much love and intention into every single day that I find myself in tears at the end of each school year. I honestly don't want to imagine the day my youngest graduates from BCM--I may never recover. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for giving our family such a beautiful start. read more

I've been a parent of 2 children at BCM. Our first daughter attended when they first opened the school. The school has been like a second home. My children absolutely love the staff. Would I recommend this school? Absolutely!!! My oldest daughter is in GATE and skipped a grade once she moved to elementary. Thank you BCM for all you do!!! read more

We love BCM! We went on an exhaustive preschool search for my 2-year old. So many visits, tours, and even trial days. BCM was the only school that my husband and I both agreed on. The staff at BCM are so genuine and sincere, something that I feel sets them apart far above the rest. Our 2-year old thrives here and her development in speech and language exponentially got so much better after she started school. She is excited to go to school every morning and so happy every day at pick-up. We especially love the diversity amongst the faculty and students, something you don't get at schools in the neighboring city unfortunately. We have about 5 preschools within a 10-minute walking distance to us, and we choose to send her to BCM that's a 10-15 minute drive away- that should be very telling of how truly wonderful BCM is! read more

I am a retired public school classroom teacher of 35 years. I had the privilege of spending the day in my granddaughters' classrooms at the Beach City Montessori School at 2233 El Segundo Blvd, El Segundo, CA 90245. My granddaughter is in elementary. The school is incredibly inviting! As I walked into the school, I was greeted with a collage of smiles from the staff members, who were welcoming the children. There were lots of smiles, hugs, pleasantries and comforting words for the children. It is a very loving atmosphere! I came to read a story to my kindergartener's class. The teacher invited me to spend the day. I read the story that my granddaughter & I had chosen. We actually brought 3 stories for the teacher to approve. She let my granddaughter choose the story. So kind! I saw first hand why my granddaughter loves Miss Michelle! Miss Michelle is the most amazing teacher. She provides an abundance of opportunities where learning takes place, for the children to experience success! I loved how she referred to the children as " friends". The classroom is stimulating, warm, filled with learning, lots of interactions, many varied experiences, all woven together in Miss Michelle's enormous HEART! The "friends" (I love that title for the children.) were studying a unit about insects. The children had much knowledge about insects. There was some review and some new learning introduced about insects. Miss Pam had an Art Project relating to cardinals in the winter. She presented a beautiful sample with set by step visual directions for the Art Project. The children were very successful. The children created their own imaginary insects reinforcing the body parts of insects. Miss Michelle reviewed vocabulary & gave the children a review spelling activity. I was invited to stay for lunch. After lunch, I went to my granddaughter's Preschool Class. Miss Alexis, my granddaughter's teacher, is extremely gifted. You can tell that she was born to teach. Her patience abounded. Her tender heart was on display as she interacted with her children. She was filled with kindness & love. The classroom was a menu of different experiences. Miss Alexis' classroom is a very tactile resort! It's like an oasis. No wonder the children love her. I marveled at her ability (gift) to hold the attention of her 2 year old children. My granddaughter's eyes light up when she sees Miss Alexis. Miss Alexis was studying a unit on dinosaurs. There were dinosaurs in many parts of her classroom. My granddaughter was so inspired by Miss Alexis' knowledge of dinosaurs and examples of dinosaurs, that she asked her Mom to please get her some dinosaurs from the store. I was so impressed by my granddaughter's knowledge of dinosaurs and the identification of dinosaurs that I thought she must be in the four year old preschool class. Miss Alexis is a very dedicated teacher. As a grandparent, I am so thankful for Miss Michelle, Miss Alexis, Miss Pam and the entire staff of the Beach City Montessori Preschool & Elementary School. Each staff member (friend) brings their unique Gifts and Talents to Beach City Montessori where learning & love take place. Both of my sons attend BCM and I cannot speak more highly about how wonderful the school is and how fabulous the staff is. We could not be happier with the experience that both boys have had there and the positive learning environment they have created. We love Beach Cities Montessori! Both my boys went to the school and our youngest is in kindergarten with Miss Michelle. She is truly amazing and wonderful in every way. Before we started kinder, a friend of mine (her kids had Miss Michelle last year) told me that she would follow her anywhere bc she was that great. I couldn't agree more!! The teachers and staff at this school are amazing. My son attended kindergarten and we ended up keeping him there through second grade. Their elementary school program is comprehensive, and far beyond what other private schools in the area offer. BCM is a hidden gem!! The teachers not only educate but they care about each child individually. Due to this we also sent my daughter to their preschool Montessori class. Again, the experience we have had is that BCM provides best in class learning while also caring for my child's emotional needs. Fantastic place to send your children!! read more
