I first saw The Lost Colony more than 50 years ago and loved it. My wife and I saw it again the…read morenight before last because she had never seen it. l've got to say it has changed a lot since I last saw it. There was a lot more emphasis on the Native Americans, and the colonists were largely treated as greedy while the Indians were all wise and good. The portrayal of Queen Elizabeth made her appear like a flighty, giggling girl rather than the tough English queen she was. All in all, it seems like the changes made to the original play were designed to appeal to the "woke" crowd, while downplaying the historic effort of a small group of English settlers to found a colony in a largely inhospitable wilderness.
