It seemed like a lot of people had been leaving their trash behind in the fire pits rather than using the dumpster, which was pretty sad, and is probably difficult for the owners to keep up on. There is nothing quite like standing in the middle of a tall grass prairie with supercell thunderstorms all around you and you can see the gusts of wind move the grass in giant waves. While many of you will not visit in the middle of a storm chase, it's definitely a beautiful place. The small but info packed visitors center has limited days of operation, check the website before heading out there if you want to go inside it. And yes they have a herd of buffalo that sometimes you can see. Sometimes it seems the prairie swallows them up. But if you get to see them it just seems like an ideal setting for the experience. They have trails that are worth a walk. Bring your own water, don't assume you will find any at the visitors center. Naturally, 4 Stars.

Due to the fact my wife and I are older and I'm handicapped and don't walk well, they loaded our kayaks on their trailer and took us on their shuttle to the drop point and then unloaded them and took them to the waters edge. The staff in the morning were friendly, efficient and we would recommend them to anyone and the charge for the shuttle was extremely fair. However, then came the second part of our experience, when we arrived back at the camp via the river and were ready to get out. We were repeatedly told that they would be there to help us get our kayaks out of the water and back onto our trailer, but nobody was there when we arrived. My wife then walked up to the office to ask about getting some help, but an older staff member(probably owner) told her he was too busy doing other things to help and was very dismissive. When a younger employee volunteered to help us, the older man wouldn't let him come and told us he would *send him down soon.* We waited until it became apparent that he wasn't going to come and then proceeded to do the loading ourselves. This didn't go well, because we were not really physically capable of doing it without help, given the loose and steep terrain, but being determined and a bit angry helped us get it done. It's a shame, because this was our first experience with this company and we had really been looking forward to not only using them regularly for kayaking, but also bringing our trailer down to stay in their RV park. However, due to the way we were treated, it's doubtful we'll be returning. I hope the rest of you have a better overall experience than we did.

After I arrived, however, I was told the price was $700 per month. There was no written lease or rental agreement explaining the difference. I paid the $700 for the first month. The following month I was charged another $700. Then I received a bill for $738 with no itemization explaining the additional $38. When I questioned the difference between the advertised $500 rate and the $700 I was being charged, management refused to correct the website price. I was also told that what I was paying was a "subscription" rather than rent, which I found very strange. For comparison, I eventually moved to another RV park. They charge $450 per month plus electric, exactly as advertised, and I received a clear receipt showing what I paid and what the deposit was for. My issue isn't simply that Camp Mi Casa charges $700. A business can charge whatever it wants. My problem is advertising one price and then charging a different price after the customer arrives, without a written agreement or clear itemized billing. I would strongly recommend getting the exact monthly price, all fees, and the terms in writing before committing to a stay at Camp Mi Casa. My experience was enough that I chose to take my business elsewhere.

We had a fantastic time using the canoes with SBC. Not only did we rent canoes for floating down…read morethe Elk River, we also stayed at the lodge which slept 12 of our 16 person Labor Day Party! The lodge had a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, two full bathrooms, and a BBQ pit in front. We used it all. You do have to bring your own linen and bedsheets, however, which was fine with us. Plenty of space for parking right outside too. One of our guests even decided to tent outside and there was room for that too. The lodge had private access to the Elk River where some of our patrons went to fish and soak in some of Americas most pristine water. We got to the lodge Saturday and partied hard. Sunday at about 10:30am, a driver brought a truck to the lodge and picked up our water coolers for River canoeing party so we didn't have to carry them next door. Then we walked over to the property next door where we found our canoes or sit on top kayaks to take down stream for a total of 8 miles. We completed our 8 miles of wet watery blissful fun in about 5-6 hours, stopping many times along the sides of the river for snacks and drinks. I can't remember another Labor Day where I have had more fun!
