There has been quite a few building upgrades which were much needed. They were also done without affecting the beautiful stone exterior and the old windows of the building. Inside is cozy and unique. There are three floors. You walk in the main entrance to the adult and sections on both sides. There is a balcony above where many more books are located. If you go downstairs, there is a great children's section. The staff is all very sweet and accommodating. They are all there to help and are great with recommendations or with locating material. They do many activities and meetings in this building. They also have passes available for local museums and parks. There was a major technology upgrade as well. Gone are the days of the massive card catalog with the lengthy drawers of cards stating the location and reference information of the books. There are now several laptops you can borrow for the sitting area or look up and get your book checked out all via computer programs. It's a great spot to bring a coffee in and browse or read for hours. Love this little place. Ps- it also doesn't get crazy crowded and there doesn't seem to be many unwanted visitors that pass through here.

The building is actually called The Damon Memorial Building and until 1926 housed both the high school and the library. The high school received it's own building and the Gale Library took over the entire building. The library is made of lovely granite from local quarries with brown sandstone trim and the roof is black and red slate from the state of Maine. The library was designed by the famous Boston architect Stephen Earle in the Romanesque Revival Style and even includes a clock tower. The money for the library was donated by Sam and Susan Damon Gale and was opened in 1888. This was the great era of library building and the inside is as impressive as the outside. A stunning and wonderful building, libraries like this will never be built again.

Located in the town center of Shrewsbury, this newly renovated and redesigned library has a very…read morewelcoming floor plan. The 1903 original library building is blended seamlessly with the newer structure. As you enter, there are many wide open spaces to sit and read throughout the library. For the children, there is a large children section which has a lot of fun animal characters. We were visiting in the winter so the outdoor area was closed but it did look very nice. The parking lot is good but I would imagine that it would always be great to have more parking. Finally, the book self-check-out system is definitely state of the art and there is an electronic drop of book drop off at the main entrance. The architect, Michael Pagano, and the entire library team did an amazing job with this new town community hub. Don't miss the "Let your quest be for knowledge" inscription on the stained glass in the 2nd Floor staircase of the original 1903 Library building.

Seen from the outside the library is a lovely but not extravagant building that seems to blend in well with the rest of the small town. The Conant Library has a nice children's department and a community room where lots of events and lectures take place. The education at Assumption is something so unique, your life really is transformed like the motto claims. Being grounded in the liberal arts, the curriculum offers so much to the students. The walls of the classroom fold down, and the knowledge you learn from individual classes becomes one. You are transformed into a critical thinker, a knowledge seeker, an intellectual, and a man or woman of great confidence in yourself. It is an unparalleled school filled with amazing faculty, students, opportunities, research, community spirit, school spirit, and thrist for truth. Being a science major at a catholic college was something that was always a challenge. I think that I am a more aware scientist in the fact that I know some things can't be explained with science alone. I am in graduate school right now at Northeastern University, and I am prepared for the all the challenges ahead both in school, and in life. I am confident in my ability to tackle everything that life will throw at me because of my experience at AC. Assumption is a hidden gem. When you find it, your life will truly be transformed.

We had to give the first speech in the auditorium. That cured my fear of public speaking for life! I went on to graduate high school at 16. Then I attended Quinsigamond from 16-18 years of age. I joined student government and became secretary. My second year, I became student government president and was Valor Victorian at graduation. That course in Speech really paid off! I went on to U-Mass Amherst and have been teaching in Florida for over 25 years. If I can do it, anyone that puts their mind to it can end up successful after studying here. I visited this summer when I was home. I'm so impressed with how much the campus has grown and how beautiful the property is. I was impressed with the food bank. The quality of the food that they have was amazing with fresh vegetables and meat. The cafeteria and the bookstore are still in the same location. I was able to buy a T-shirt, even though it was summertime. It was wonderful to walk the halls and climb the stairs where I studied so long ago.

"Advisor" who contacted my kid via email, provided inaccurate information that my kid followed to the letter, only to receive contradicting emails from the registrar's office and business office. They want money for a class he is not even being permitted to enroll in! WHAT?!!!!!! Emails were not only written to try to drop the course on the deadline (as the registrar's office does NOT answer phones during their "business hours"), but voice messages were left as well. He COULD NOT drop on his account. NOT PERMITTED. Screenshots are valuable, and I highly recommend CYA to any student. Clearly, this organization not only hires unprofessional and incompetent people, but taxpayers $$$$$$ should not be going to this "institution of learning." Anything but... RUN, RUN, RUN !!!!!!

I was not…read morelooking to get a Full Time Job but I did know I wanted to either learn some Technical Computer Skills which I never thought I would ever learn at my age so that I could do some part time work somewhere or a Home Business which definitely would need Excel, Word, and make Presentations. I also learned while there they had a 'Medical Terminology Course', which would feed my previous Army Medical background and learn more up to date terms for work at a Hospital or similar area. The many weeks I was there; with the absolutely patient, understanding, and very loving and talented 'Friends' made there; I have made my life ; because of Operation ABLE's Staff much more enjoyable; and made money I never dreamed of. Having grown-up in Shrewsbury, and now after many years of living outside of this immediate area, I've happily returned to town to care for the many needs of my now elderly parents. This spring will mark the 3rd year I've been back. Sadly my mom passed away on January 9th, 2018 at the age of 91. She lived in Shrewsbury her entire life and over the years she gave of herself by tirelessly volunteering for numerous town and church organizations/boards. My dad, having done the same, will be turning 93 this fall. That having been said, I wish to extend my hand in gratitude to the many people who work and volunteer for our local Council on Aging. I've only very recently turned to the council for advice on the care of my dad. The wonderful people of the council have become a refreshing and profoundly helpful resource for my family. I am eternally grateful to the council for their willingness to assist! Twice they printed the Shrewsbury bus schedule, and twice the info is wrong...Maybe someone should actually try taking the bus...and I once saw the bus driver tell an elderly woman at City Hall that she could not take the bus to her doctors appointments at Shrewsbury Center (a business you can't get to) because twice a day (yeah, only twice) they don't go all the way through Shrewsbury, they stop at Fairlawn. He told her to walk the rest of the way or wait in the cold for another hour and he can take here there. I emailed the Town Manager (who is supposed to be on the WRTA board) and he never responded. Also it used to run all the way to Ward Hill and someone complained and they changed it....Now that person has moved and it stays that way..Also several people have to walk a few miles to get to it's new location (the Elderly center) where they don't even take buses , they have shuttles and rides.Thanks Shrewsbury!
