I love Sainte Genevieve and I'm thrilled that it's growing since I left many moons ago. I was there this past weekend and ate here... it's new from when I visited. Not new to Feast Magazine. They named it one of the best new restaurants. I gotta agree. I was heading out of town and needed coffee. I wanted real coffee. Not fast food or gas station coffee so we stopped in here. It was after lunch and the pastry case was a little empty. Looking at the menu I noticed Chai Latte. There we go. My fave. I was thrilled. She uses Blueprint Coffee and ice never been disappointed with any drink made with their coffee. It was fantastic. I also got a pastry. It had raspberry and cream cheese in it. Wowza! The dough was so flaky and perfect. There were a lot of signs that said "Quality Takes Time". I agree and honestly I would have waited longer for the coffee and pastry I received... it was just that good. Next time I'm in town I'm heading here for lunch. I highly recommend. read more

The wonderful smells that greet you are amazing. What a great way to start the day: pour over coffee; freshly made bagel (with no hole) and a breakfast sandwich with egg, cheese and more. Just finished eating with my wife and a friend. Ordered the Belgian waffle with bacon and cheese and the soup of the day (Apple gouda sausage with penne). The soup was delicious, but...hands down that waffle was the best I ever had in my life. It's not even close. My friend loved her salad, and my wife enjoyed her sausage quiche and home made BlackBerry Danish. Owner and her staff-person were friendly and attentive yet unobtrusive. Lovely people. At first glance this place may seem a little sketch - old doors, old furniture, tiny counter. We are really happy we stopped in. The owner made us a delicious pour-over coffee drink that was fantastic. We tried the maple scone and it was amazing! We certainly enjoyed our time here. And did I mention EVERYTHING is homeade?? This was the BEST food we had in St Genevieve and would recommend 10/10. So I really wanted to give this a four stars based on all the other reviews but to be honest I thought it was just Ok. The atmosphere was quaint and inviting but the service was not and the food was Ok. I had a Ham an egg breakfast bagel that was more like a biscuit (which I'm not a big fan of)and the egg with diced ham filling and cheddar was bland. The creamy pesto was delicious and helped it out a lot. My husband actually liked that kind of bagel but he said his ham quiche was bland. There are menus on the table but you need to order at counter and preparer calls out ordered items for you to pick up. All which is fine but a bit of a mystery as to how things work there. The coffee was delicious but you are somewhat shamed about ordering a regular coffee.there. Their specialty is a "pour over" method but order "americano" if you want regular coffee flavor. I can't believe I haven't seen this place in the 2 1/2 years it's been open! I what a find! The cafe is quaint with vintage decorations and Mia-mar he's tables and chairs. Everything on the menu is made from scratch daily-even the bread the chicken salad sandwich my husband ordered (which came with the biggest chunks of chicken and walnuts!). He said it was fantastic. I had the half soup of the day (corn chowder) and spinach quiche- to die for! And, she Has the most scrumptious looking desserts in the front counter! We are on a road trip and our first stop is Hawn State Park. Beanik Cafe is the closest and coolest spot to the park for coffee. There are many choices for iced or hot. They have great salads and sandwiches,too. We had the Chinese Chicken Salad, perfect. We didn't have a dessert but the ones we saw looked good. The spot is so cute and immaculate. We traveled to Ste. Genevieve for a girls weekend and popped in on our first morning for breakfast. One word -- amazing. We got one of pretty much everything and it all was unbelievably good. The quiche, scones, waffles, sweet rolls and the coffee . . . oh, the coffee! We loved it so much that we came back the second morning and regretted not getting treats to take home. I'm already planning a trip back for later in the summer for me and my husband and Cafe Rust is at the top of our list. We purchased several pieces from the shop to remember this awesome spot.
