My husband and I took an overnight getaway to Saint Genevieve from St. Charles. On our journey, someone recommended Audubon's as a good place to eat. We love to go places where people recommend and then go try it out ourselves. We were not disappointed. We sat at the bar our bartender Hannah was fabulous. She was friendly and courteous. I ordered shrimp Etoufee, it was like a New Orleans type shrimp gumbo served with a side of rice. My husband ate a Schwein schnitzel a German pork tenderloin. He says it was cooked perfectly, his plate came with a side of German mac & cheese which was delicious. The atmosphere was low lighting, semi formal but laid-back. The bartender told us to have a speakeasy that features shows and events every so often. We look forward to coming back to Audubon's. I must try in Saint Genevieve.. read more

Very disappointing. The food was average and the service was poor. We ordered traditional American cuisine and a couple of pasta entrees. It took over 30 minutes in a not busy restaurant. One order was for fettucine, but were served linguine, undercooked. No garlic. he When server was informed, her response was, "I don't order pasta in restaurants, they always get it wrong." Service was terrible. Been there twice and it always seems our waitress/waiter forgets we are there, had to ask for drink refills, never offered. The first time we went it took 15 minutes to get our drinks and it want even our waiter who brought them. Then it took about 20 minutes to get our starter. And another 20 minutes or more to get our entrée. Food is subpar. The French Onion soup is bland, and the pick two lunch menu is pricier than the regular menu. I probably will not return. Had a reservation on a Saturday night to celebrate a birthday. They were out of at least 3 food items when we sat down and by the time we ordered our drinks, an additional 2 items were unavailable. The waitress seemed new and while she was taking our drink orders she kept running back to the bar after almost every order to verify that they were able to make the drink. She also was using a tablet and didn't look at us while taking our orders, both drink or food. She definitely wasn't comfortable or confident while waiting on us, it seemed like she was put on the floor on her own too early or without proper training. Several of us ordered Martini's and each martini was served at a different level of liquid in the glass. Being in the service industry myself, a bartender should be making martinis the same way and they should all be the same amount of liquor/liquid in the glass, especially if these martinis are all going to the same table. We didn't say anything the first round because our waitress was flustered enough but the second round was ridiculous. When I asked the waitress why there was a difference, her response was "that's just how he makes them." Probably not her best choice of words or solution to the concern. So we asked to speak to the manager and her response was "What would you like me to do about it?" Again probably not the best response - a simple I'm sorry would have been a good start followed by a let me ask the bartender, let me fix it, etc. Food was mediocre at best. Several peoples meals were missing this or that, or the meat that some got weren't cooked to the temperature they asked for, we had to ask for proper silverware. It just wasn't a great experience overall. Wouldn't come back next time I'm in the area. I appreciate our waitress trying her best but I she definitely needed more training both with speaking to the guests and using the tablet. read more

Had a group lunch here with the National Parks Travelers Club after visiting St. Genevieve National Historical Park. They put out a very nice buffet spread for us. Everything tasty and plentiful. Plenty of space for our large group read more

This newly opened restaurant was absolutely wonderful. The hostess was friendly and efficient. The ambiance was perfect. The place was clean. The food was the absolute best, from the appetizer (spinach and artichoke dip) to each of our entrees. I ordered the grilled chicken Parmesan with roasted Brussel sprouts and spatzel which was delicious. The triple chocolate cake for dessert was heavenly and the prices, very affordable. The owner even made it a point to welcome us and make sure we had a good experience. I would recommend Audubon's highly. We will definitely return. read more

Was disappointed this time. Never had pork served rare...very gross. Portion sizes were less than usual and the spaetzel was inedible and also gross. Sad to give negative review but it's honest. Wine pour was decent, beer was good but the old fashioned was not good. In researching places to visit, stay and eat in St. Genevieve after visiting the Cave Winery, the Audubon came up at the top of the list. I read the information about the location and was intrigued by it's history and the menu looked delicious. We weren't terribly hungry as we had a big breakfast, but I still wanted to try some of the food. We were on the early side if dinner so we were able to get a table qithout reservations. We got the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp Served Over Risotto and Topped with Honey Mustard and Green Onions and House Feature - French Onion Topped with Swiss, Garlic Croutons, & Parmesan. Both were so delicious and savory. The service was great and staff super friendly. Very glad we stopped in for a snack. read more

This afternoon was the 2nd time I have been there for lunch. We sat outside at a cafe table. There were 3 of us on a Wednesday at around 1 p. No waiting. They had a nice menu with lots of variety. It's well priced. In out group, I had the pastrami Rueben and fries. It was really good. Nice marble rye bread, tasty meat, sauerkraut, Swiss cheese and Russian dressing. Great fries too very crispy. Another guest had burger and fries, the other a chicken Cesar salad. Both said their food was tasty. We also had cocktails and wine. Prices bit out of line and service was good. I stopped in for lunch on a Friday. Service felt inattentive despite there only being 1 other table in the space. Based on reviews online I ordered a cup of onion soup (tasty!), a Caesar salad (average - fine) and the shrimp and grits appetizer (too sweet! An odd taste to have the honey mustard on top of rice, as it didn't really add to the bacon wrapped shrimp flavors! Audubon's is one of the nicer restaurants in St. Gen. Wife had the salmon on the plank that was a little dry and my sample of her meal was dry too. I had the steak that was what I thought on the thinner side but it was tasty. The shrimp-bacon appetizer with risotto appetizer was the best and highly recommended. Wine selection was average and okay. Staff was very friendly and reservations are recommended during the nice weather. Try it if you are in Sainte Gen and want a nicer place to dine. read more

Fabulous meal! But let's start at beginning....in Covid times, masks worn by all staff. Temperatures taken at the door. Outdoor seating available but recommend reservations as it books up fas. Tables inside are socially distanced.....now for the nitty gritty... service was great. Attentive staff, food was phenomenal. I went here the other day with a friend for our monthly fabulous feast. The large is large, clean, open, and bright. Friendly staff. I first ordered a baked potato, only to be told they were out of potatoes. Then I ordered a pizza with cheddar cheese and olive oil garlic sauce (something different), but they brought out a mozzarella pizza and an apology. In the interest of time, I ate the pizza, and it was very good; they comped part of the meal. I'd definitely return to Audubon's. read more

Had a 6 pm reservation. Seated on time. When server came to our table a few minutes after we ordered drinks and asked for water as well. Drinks arrived timely but no water. After a second request for water..and 45 minutes later we still had not received our glasses of water or seen our waitress foe an explanation. I went to the bar to request a pitcher of water and glasses. After an hour we still didn't have our appetizers. Had to flag her down and get a little pushy. They were then delivered to our table. After 1.5 hours again we had to get her attention and point out we hadn't received our salads. She gave a major lame excuse..and we pushed some more and got our salads. However the person who had asked to substitute her salad for soup received no soup. Again it was a struggle to get her to our table to get the soup. And after 2 hours we discovered that we should have been brought a basket of bread so we had to again glad down the hostess because our waitress again was absent from our table area. And yes we had to pin her down to ask where out entrees were and when we would be receiving them. 2.5 hours of constant having to fight to get water a d our orders..party of 4..there were empty tables in the restraunt even..we fi ally were able to eat and leave. Unacceptable behavior from a server. And it wasn't just our table..othwr people were having same issue. Will never go back read more

Came here for lunch, service was great. Friendly. Food also no complaints had French onion soup very good salad and added a chicken breast sweet tea total cost $19.11. Little pricey but worth it. They have hotel rooms upstairs. Perfect place to stay and do wineries they even have a shuttle for that. read more

I've waited too long to write this review, but I do remember the food, cocktails, and service were great here. We were there with a group, and all the rest ordered off the regular menu, but hubby and I ordered off a the Gastropub menu. He got Grilled Mahi Mahi Wonton Tacos over Napa Cabbage Pico De Gallo Slaw topped with Mango Habanero Glaze. The flavors were fantastic! I can't remember what I ordered, but I didn't take any leftovers home! Some of the group ordered desserts and passed them around. The Creme Brulee was outstanding! We stayed at the hotel so decided to try the restaurant as well. When we arrived at 7:40 they told us it would be 45 min to get food and they were sold out of a bunch of stuff. I was hoping to try the shrimp appetizer but it was sold out. In fact the only appetizer they had left was mushrooms. After looking at choices minus what was out we decided on sandwiches. My friend had chicken salad and I had a schnitzel sandwich. Both were ok. My friends croissant was a bit burnt (supposed to be toasted). She ate the chicken salad and said it was good. My schnitzel was huge and crispy but very bland. I asked for soup instead of the side and was told there would be an up charge. I paid full price for both. The French onion soup was very good and worth it. Overall it was pretty good but quite expensive for sandwiches. read more

This is a super cute restaurant with great service located in the heart of downtown Ste Genevieve. I've come time and time again and have always been pleased with my food. We went there for the wood fire stove pizza. They were out. I settle for the flat bread pizza. It was burnt. Bland. Not worth the $8. We waited on on food for over an hour despite being only the 6 th and 7th customers in the whole restaurant. My friend had the soup and a salad. They still got there salad when I got my pizza. There was one customer who came in 20 minutes after us and got seated, ordered placed and food before us. I would not recommend this to anybody. If this how we get get treated early in the day. I cannot imagine how it would be if it were busy. There are much better options. read more

After a fun day of wine tasting around St. Gen we needed a hearty meal and a little more wine. Thankfully we came to Audubons from a recommendation from a friend. This place went above and beyond our expectations! They had a fantastic bar area with amble space for you to sit down and grab a few spirits before sitting down for dinner. The wine menu was excellent. SO many different wines to choose from with a very large price range to fit anyone's budget. The food was delicious. Everything was so rich that we had ample leftovers for the next day. I got the weekly pasta special and it was so incredibly rich with cheese!!! It came with a side salad and a nice big slice of toast which was lightly buttered. Everyone at the table loved the dish. Finished off my meal with literally the BEST bread pudding I've ever had. It was warm, fresh, not soggy and had so much comforting flavor. Keeps you warm on those chilly nights! The owners came around and introduced themselves to us and checked on us to see how our meal was going. In fact I saw them do it for multiple tables. Thought we would try something different and had heard really good things. The service was the best i have ever gotten but the food was subpar, bland and over priced. Started with the fried prezel app with beer cheese. Pretzel was phenomenal but the beer cheese was cool and just ehh... I ordered the Reuben. The bread was soggy and the sandwich lacking flavor. Couldnt taste the sauerkraut but didnt 5hink about it until i got home. Checked out my leftovers and turns out i couldnt taste the sauerkraut because there was none on it. Which makes me wonder now why the bread was so soggy. Probably will not go back which is disappointing because i was really hoping we would love it. read more

Horrible food, bad service. 1st the food took 45 mins to be served. (There was only one other table of people eating) the 12oz ribeye was more like a 8 oz, it was supposed to be medium rare and was well done, and cold. The chicken was cold and very dry. The fries were cold and soggy I was supposed to have a loaded baked potato ($1 upcharge) and got a scoop of sketchy mashed potatoes. New "local & farm fresh" restaurant w/ too many cooks... For foodie/tourist/city people- 1. Order off the menu (not family style) & stick with pizzas, pastas & the lighter "American New" food 2. Expect $10+ for lunch & eating on the bar side or $20+ for dinner in the dining room ($$ rating is not bad for table service) 3. Get a dessert The "American Traditional" items on the menu & "Family Style" have been overcooked & under-seasoned disappointments for me & my family. This may keep a few locals happy, but not the St Louis crowd I know. If it is beef/steak or bison- it will come out overcooked & probably gravy added. Examples- Kettle beef- tough cuts of beef with little flavor after the gravy is gone Green beans- over cooked & under-seasoned so could have been from a can Liver dumplings- had more liver & onion flavor than most places so I actually liked it Fried chicken- mild seasoning, but well cooked Mashed potatoes- pretty good, but served cool during "family style" on Sunday Gravy- the brown gravy w/ "family style" was really good Herb crusted pork- the pork was slightly well done & I wanted more flavor, but I would order again Bison burger- ordered medium because it is ground meat & came well done & soaked in gravy so I couldn't even get any flavor Vegetable pizza- great fresh crust cooked in a wood-fired brick oven- it had nice fresh veggies & mozzarella plus goat cheese Sausages- Oberle meats are used & that is a great thing Rolls- when fresh they are great, but on Sunday during "family style"... cold & hard Crème brûlée- Light & fancy with a nice caramelized top Pastas- While I did not try them, I was told by trusted family that they all have been great.
