We purchased everything we needed for dinner tonight: Fresh walleye from Fred's Fresh Fish, corn on the cob from Farmer White's and a nice spring mix for salad. Oh, and red velvet cupcakes from My Sister's Bake Shop. The market has live music and games for kids. There is a woodworking booth, Lavender products, soaps, Fiddlehead Farms, Dutch Oven bakery, Pond Hill Farm, several other farm booths with fresh fruits and vegetables. You can have crepes made to order, grab some empanadas, get your knives sharpened, grab some cheese and mustard, pick up some sauces and oils, and Gregory's Farm sells the best meats. Over 40 booths today with a lot to offer. One of the coolest things is the Young Entrepreneur's tent, which features local kids selling things they have made. We purchased an egg carton full of recovered golf balls. There is also a kids corner to keep the little ones busy with coloring, sidewalk chalk, etc. It's always nice to see so many people supporting our local vendors.

Some of the expected offerings included lettuce, fruit, herbs, jams, pickled beans, honey and flowers. But you can also find local yarn, French macarons and soap. Musicians played and children danced. It was a lovely part of the morning. It is a pretty small market, but plan to do some other things in town while you are there. I love that they do it twice a week in summer as this gave us ability to eat local throughout the week. Everyone is friendly and it is well organized. It is a fun morning experience as you can get local honey, taste some specialty teas, but a carved wood gift, try on handmade earrings, taste some local blueberries or peruse the scrumptious produce. We go every time we are in town and we love being able to learn about local businesses as well when they come to the market. We have tried mixed mustard, tomato butter and other new items for us all as a result if finding them at this farmers market!

Came back ten minutes later and he still hadn't returned. I waited another 10 minutes with other customers because mushrooms were my primary reason for going to the farmers' market and he finally showed up. Strange way to do business. No apologies.

The guy jumped down his throat and ensured him he would never take anyone out to his spots because they will come back and take all of the mushrooms. I don't share my spots, either, but when you are a business owner, one would expect you to treat your paying customers with a little more kindness. I have a wonderful experience with other "mushroom people", both from a business aspect, as well as casually. We share in this unique love for the hunt, harvest, and use of mushrooms. This guy doesn't fit the bill and seems like a selfish child who doesn't want to share his toys.
