Best Farmer's Market around! Good quality produce, and the prices are good. Staff is always friendly.

Lots of prepared food items in here…read more I wanted to eat a ton of food here, had it make it a quick trip so I wouldn't buy more food than I would be able to eat, plus we have no fridge in our hotel to keep the food. Their sandwiches, bowls, potato salads all look so yummy. We came knit to grab some water and head back on the roads

If you want a environmentally conscious, casual breakfast and lunch place without artificial…read moreadditives this is your spot. It is a fun location with plenty of seating, bright ambience and friendly staff. There is a parking lot out the back or street parking which is harder to find but doable. There are some options like smoothies and other 'healthy' choices which is what attracted us to drive over and try it out. Sadly given that I am vegan I found there to be very limited choices. The menu says vegan and gluten free options available but from I could tell only two things could be made vegan. It was disappointing but if we had really studied the menu I might have been more prepared. My husband tried the special of an olive filled cheese with Brussels sprout slaw which he throughly enjoyed. He said the olives were tangy and led to a great balance with the feta. It was a small portion so I shared with him so might not satisfy some for lunch. I ordered the power bowl with curried cauliflower, rice, sweet potatoes, avocados and black beans. It was pretty good but as I didn't want the cream (forgot to ask for vegan option but coconut yogurt was potentially available) it was not as creamy as possible. I think a cashew cream would have been the best option. The potato salad side was pretty bland as well, so not the best choice. I had to add tons of pepper to season it, which I try to never do but go with the chefs preference. Not an option here. My suggestion would be to have one totally vegan you don't have to ask to change anything option so as to be welcoming to those of us 'crazies' as in a new spot it is just hard to catch all the subtleties of menus. It reminded me of a healthy version of Panera to be honest. Good but not my first choice. Thus my 3 stars as if you are going to tout yourself as the healthy option then make more room for those doing optional lifestyles.

Was surprised to see a lot (relative for the town) of reviews for this place on Google yet nothing…read moreon Yelp. Seems they've only been open since July so that sort of checks out. Lady at the counter was friendly and they had a ton of options to choose from on the menu. However no macaroons like pictured in the reviews, and even more upsetting was half the toppings I wanted weren't available. Including the tapioca pearls which, are pretty much the whole point of getting bubble tea! Settled for a couple other toppings instead and figured I would give something new a shot. At the end, definitely extremely disappointed with the bubble tea itself. Not only do you not get one of those cups with the plastic sealed top to satisfyingly or frustratingly pop with your straw, but they also provide you with a normal soda straw that isn't big enough to suck any of the boba toppings up with! Definitely a lot of room to improve here with the boba experience, which would be okay if they didn't so explicitly advertise it everywhere with huge boba signs all over the place. I feel bad for the low rating, but unfortunately based on the product itself, I would have to give it two stars. But don't get me wrong, restore was nice and clean, the menu has a lot of option for flavors, and the staff was friendly. So for those reasons, bumping it up to three stars.

I heard about Crooked Tree Breadworks on a recent trip to Petoskey and dropped by on my last day in…read morethe area. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to visit until near the end of the day and at that point they had sold out of most of their items, including the famous pepper parmesan rolls. They still had a few items left and we decided to pick up two of them. Kouign Amann ($4.95) - The caramelization of the sugar on this pastry is on point. The bottom has a layer of sugar that has melted into a glaze with extreme caramelization, almost on the verge of being burnt. If it had been left in the oven for a few moments more, it would probably have started to develop an acrid taste. Luckily, it was pulled out at just the right time. Even the sides of this pastry have been graced with sweetness and a top layer of thicker sugar crystals/grains adds an amazing crunch. While the kouign amann may not have as many thin laminated layers as a croissant, there is still an excellent buttery interior which helps balance the outside sweetness. The interior is fluffy and layered well into an even honey comb pattern. This kouign amann exceeded my expectations. (5/5) 3:00 O'clock Baguette ($5.90) - Yikes, this is by far the most expensive baguette I've ever bought. I was kind of dreading it when I first felt the baguette through the bag - it seemed a bit soft and limpy. When I tore into it soon afterwards, I found my concerns to be somewhat unfounded. By somewhat I mean that yes, there is hardly a crust on the baguette, but the interior still exhibits a nice chew and the flavor is very well developed. It's a decent baguette, but nothing outstanding. Perhaps the crust would be better earlier in the day when fresh baked? (4/5) I was definitely surprised by the quality of the baked goods at Crooked Tree Breadworks. I'll have to revisit earlier in the day on my next visit to the area so I can try more of their breads and pastries.
