The cherries were so fresh, sweet & juicy.......this from "sampling a few" which is also part of the fun of u-pick........that and pit-spittin' contests! The orchard is a laid back place with plenty of other varieties of fruit to pick and/or sample. Or simply just to purchase pre-picked. Different fruits have different "peak" seasons for harvesting so do some research and then go and enjoy nature's bounty.

She refused to accept that psychiatric service dogs are, in fact, service dogs, and that my dog was trained to provide deep pressure therapy for depression, anxiety and PTSD.Finally we just left. I went over to the corn area and grabbed a few of the produce bags that are more substantial and was filling them up as I walked around. It was a busy day so I couldn't get in to all the produce until the other customers were done. I tucked a couple of the bags in the front pocket of my purse so that I could reach them easily as I walked around. One of the employees, she was mid 40's with dark curly hair came over to me and demanded that I give her the bags that I had. She said that they cost money and I couldn't take them. I explained that I was not taking them but that I wasn't done shopping. She said "give them to me, and we will bag up whatever needs bagged" She didn't say it quietly, but she was very loud and Karenish. I'm 64 years old and have Never been accused of stealing anything.....let alone cheap bags. I should have walked out but I went and payed $135.00 for what I had already had in my cart. I will never go back, and I have been telling all my friends what happened and I hope they pass it along. That is not how you treat paying customers. Had she waited for me to checkout and if I had any bags remaining in my purse, then maybe she would've been in the right to ask for them back. But not while I was still shopping. That's how people get hurt these days.

I discovered LWF at the Eugene Farmers Market this past winter. Their Dakota Black popcorn caught…read moremy eye....I'm a popcorn fanatic! I bought a bag and also some very grainy and lovely colored polenta. I took my goodies home and anxiously made some popcorn. I stopped using canola oil because I learned it is not meant for high heat cooking. I only had olive oil and used it instead. I had no idea what was wrong w/ my popcorn until after a few failed attempts to make it and failed. I had used up almost all my kernels. I emailed LWF and was told olive oil doesn't get hot enough and so the oil wouldn't work w/ the popcorn. I visited the Eugene Farmers Market again this past Jan. and decided to get some more polenta and popcorn. The owner was so kind to remember my email and problem...she gave me a free bag of popcorn and suggested I try coconut oil. My popcorn pops perfectly and the taste is amazing. beautiful white puffs of corn w/ a lovely black shell. The polenta is very nice too. I found I have to use less water than the recipe calls for but it cooks very nicely! BIG FAN OF LONESOME WHISTLE!

Despite complaints, they've done nothing. The owners wouldn't tolerate this outside their own home, yet they allow it in the community where they operate. Their lack of accountability makes them unworthy of continued patronage.

Because I happened to be in the grocery the other day and found myself gazing in at the new freezers. There was, of course, ice cream in there. Ice cream from several different companies. Fortunately, one was our local Lochmead. Well, they didn't have very many flavors - small space and all. I can go to Dairy-Mart if I want a larger variety, but there I was looking in... Looking in.... Looking in.... And there it was. Right there on the bottom of the carton. "An Honest Half Gallon." Thank you Lochmead. Other ice cream manufacturers have started making 1.5 quart "half gallon" cartons. That ain't right. You, Lochmead, are doing it right. Salted caramel and black licorice are both really awesome flavors. They all are. And it's from just the next county over. THANK YOU LOCHMEAD!
