This is not a pleasant place to shop. So many little (and not so little) scolding signs. " Do not do this, Do that." An unfriendly atmosphere. I understand that this is a family business, and they can run their business the way they want, but they're not interested in providing a warm and welcoming environment. I have been going in to this farmstand off and on for 8 years. Have always come away feeling some kind of way because of the juju. Last visit was, in fact, my last visit. Much prefer Groundworks Organics, or Santa Clara farmstands. Thistledown is just a little too cold and dismissive for me. Not my jam. read more

BEWARE OF FRESH STRAWBERRIES!Usually, I am a big fan of Thistledown farm. Today, I had a very negative experience . I purchased 1/2 flat of fresh strawberries, to serve to dinner guests this evening. As I was cleaning the berries, they looked odd, it appeared that they had some sort of core on the inside of the berry. I was not sure what it was and the berries tasted "off". I thought the core looked like it could be a maggot, but I thought I was wrong, until I looked it up and yes, indeed berries can have maggots on the inside that you can not see from the outside. I called and spoke with the manager, they said to return them with the receipt and they would refund my money. My concern was they did not really apologize and said, we don't spray. I get that and I am happy for that, but, they are responsible for their product quality control. I felt their customer service response was very poor. read more

I have visited here a handful of time over the past 20 years as I grew up in the area. I had never gone to purchase pumpkins, until now! We came in and wow was it busy!! So many people in search of pumpkins, treats, veggies, and hay rides. How fun. We got a basket full of pumpkins, and mums. Then saw people with bags of apple cider donuts. The lady asked us how many bags we wanted- went with one bag (5 donuts inside) they were warm and oh so delicious!! Will definitely be getting those again. $4 for those. Yum. The pumpkins were 45c a pound & 7.49$ for the mums. Beautiful and full. I love it here cause you can get plants, honey, jams, pies, baked goods, bread, veggies, pumpkins, gourds, corn, wine, and so much more!! There were hay rides out to the pumpkin patch for $5, 1 year and older allowed. There were baby goats, ponies, chickens, bunnies for the kids to see and pet. Such a fun and hopping spot for activities. We had fun and even got some chips & salsa too. So much to look at and choose from. read more

The BEST fruit I have ever eaten! We moved from Los Angeles in March 2024 and I wanted to make jam from the local fruit. We visited Thistledown Farms at least once a week, all summer long. They had the most beautiful and flavorful strawberries that I've ever seen in my life. But then there were the Raspberries, Blueberries, Blackberries, Marionberries, Peaches, Figs, Apples. Just a fantastic assortment of perfectly ripe fruits. And their vegies! Lettuces, broccoli, you name it. All "farm fresh" and so delicious. I bought flats of fruits and every one was perfectly ripe and ready to use that day. I can't wait to visit again this summer. They also have a wide variety of produce that they don't grow, which is listed as such, and it is good too. The staff is always very nice and helpful. Visited on 6/30/24. Was a bit disappointed in the 1/2 flat of Strawberries I purchased. Got home to find many berries moldy and/or overripe. Out of the six little baskets, I ended up throwing away one small basket's worth. I've been to Strawberry farms before, and I've purchased in bulk. Never quite encountered this quality before. Wow... Rude much? I came in to buy some blackberries. I really wanted to buy 2 flats! I parked and walked in. I made a beeline to the blackberries. They are very ripe and there's a sign posted telling you they "must be processed immediately" because they are so ripe. As I was looking at them, I touched a few in the other baskets next to them. All of a sudden a person named "Rachel," I understand it's Pam's daughter-in-law (I don't know who that is either?), give me a stern talking to, saying "you can't be swapping berries!" I said I'm not I'm checking the other berries. Then she says, "well you're not supposed to be doing that!" I said where is the sign that says that, she says, "oh that must be on the other side." I said well I didn't see any sign. As far as I'm concerned, this place can keep their berries. I hope they go rotten overnight. Unbelievable customer service there. read more

Drove in to thistledown Farms to buy some fruit. Friends of mine in Roseburg suggested this place. I am from Southern California and was visiting friends in Roseburg so I thought I would go and see. When I arrived I found strawberries and proceeded to ask about cherries. The tall young lady was very curt with her response and really unfriendly. I was not too happy with her attitude, "no we don't have any cherries" as she walked away. I took the time to drive in my RV through Santa Clara and found unfriendly people at the check out stand. I will never ever go here again when in the area. Do yourself a favor, go across the street to the Organic fruit stand, service and politeness can not be any worse there. read more

I recently took a group of seniors out to this farm to do some shopping. I decided to buy some fresh fruit while I was there. The Honey Crisp apples were delicious, the peaches and plums were outstanding. The fruit didn't last more than a couple days because I ate them all. So I decided the next time I went to a regular grocery store to pick up some more Honey Crisp apples. They were bland in comparison. I found it was worth the 20 mile drive to go back out for more. The young ladies were super professional and hard working. Nobody was lazing around on their phones waiting for someone to come to them. They were always moving and helping. Thistledown farm was the perfect place to take our young grandson for an outing on a rainy autumn day. The farm is charming. They have a market with produce and flowers all fairly priced and of the best quality. There is a animal petting area with goats and ponies. The most beautiful berries I have ever seen! I wanted to make jam this year and we discovered Thistledown Farms. I will never go anywhere else. I buy a flat and come back for more. Every flat has been perfection. The strawberries were the most perfect berries that I have ever seen. So were the raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, peaches. I am delighted to have such wonderful fruit. The veggies are just as great. Green beans, tomatoes, lettuces. Everything that comes from their farm is marked "Thistledown", to differentiate from produce they bring in to give a good selection. You can't taste samples and you can't squeeze the peaches but I have learned that there is no need. Can't wait to see what else they will have. They only sell perfect fruit and I have been extremely happy with everything that I have bought at Thistledown Farms. read more

I opened the top of 3 corn husks and put them in my paper bag to buy. They were the only ones I opened and it was literally just the very top. I did that to see if they had worms because in the past they have. I thought checking your corn was a thing! A woman who worked there approached me in such an angry & hostile way and confronted me about the opened corn. I don't know why she was so crass. I didn't see the sign that said "do not open the corn" but I changed my mind based on how she was speaking to me and put them back only to have her shove the corn in my direction saying "You Have to Buy That Opened Corn!!! I've never been told I HAVE TO buy anything it was so weird and I actually felt bullied into buying it. Maybe don't verbally abuse customers while they are shopping? We picked the perfect Sunday to visit Thistledown Farms. You pay $5/person in the market area to ride an either horse-driven or tractor pulled carriage out to the pumpkin fields, which are your only choices if you want to pick your own pumpkins. It is well-worth it because the ride is bumpy and fun, and you get to choose from white pumpkins, traditional orange ones, striped, bumpy, and even red ones! There are all sizes and if you have little kids, you may want to bring a strong shopping bag for the little sized pumpkins. We ran out of hands, so we only got one pumpkin each. They're .45 a pound and you haul them up to the market place and check-out there. Besides this, the best part was the goat petting area. My daughter loved hanging with the baby and mama goats, and they were all friendly and gentle. There's also a hay maze with tunnels for kids to play in, as well as chickens, bunnies and Shetland ponies. All the animals seemed well-cared for. The marketplace in front has amazing fruit and vegetables you can purchase at low prices: every squash imaginable, apples, peaches, berries, green beans, zucchini, brocolli, corn, cauliflower...you get the picture! There's also honey, salsa and grass-fed beef, among tons of other treats. Oh, and in the back grocery area, there are homemade apple and berry pies. 'Need I say more?! It is a wonderful place to spend an afternoon with your family. Easy parking in front and sweet people who run the place. read more

Every year we drive 120 miles to This farm to buy fresh produce. We used to go to Lone Pine just down the street because they had better variety and prices. They finally closed their doors, so Thistledown is left. We make a nice day of this outing and enjoy lunch at the Hwy 58 cafe on our way back. Last Sunday was our day to make this trip as they advertised corn and fresh berries. I was particularly looking for raspberries and corn and Hermiston melons. The corn was advertised as Bodacious but it was 99 cents an ear which is more than we ever pay there. I only got 4 ears and am very glad I didn't buy more. It was terrible corn without flavor and I'm quite certain not from their farm as no corn in the fields appeared to be ripe. I have been buying good, sweet corn at my local Grocery Outlet store for 2 for a dollar. I will stick with that. I really wanted a flat of raspberries but they just didn't look good. Last year they were over ripe so they told me I should do them up rapidly since they wouldn't last. I didn't want to be forced to do that this year as I am 76 years old and some days my arthritis is worse than others. Anyway, they had some lovely boysenberries so I decided on a flat of those. There was only 1 full flat on the back of the table so I pulled it out. A box of berries in the right corner didn't look good, they weren't as ripe as the others so I tried to take that box out to replace with a riper one. It wouldn't come out so I decided to pick out the greener berries and replace those. An exceptionally rude woman that had apparently been watching me, hopped on over to tell me I couldn't do that. I told her I didn't want to pay for green berries and wanted to exchange the bad box. She never did say why I couldn't exchange the box, but repeatedly said I just couldn't do that. Then she noticed juice on the table from that flat of berries and said that's what happens. As if I had anything to do with the berries maybe being too long in that flat and causing a mess. she went to get me a different flat and when she came back decided it would be better to finish off the half flat with individual boxes. OK, that's fine. I bought them and they're great but I will never return to Thistledown farm again. The rudeness of this woman acting as if she is soooo much better than the visitors to that farm assures I will never return. The ad on facebook showed the corn was available with a picture of a cornfield behind. I don't know where it came from, but I know not there as I have bought their Bodacious corn for years and it is fantastic, Visiting that farm and Lone Pine had been a special trip for me for many years. I will have to find a different farm now as just one very nasty person doesn't deserve my business or anyone that I know. read more

We love having weekend outings to Thistledown Farm to pick up fresh seasonal produce and plants for our garden. They have so many veggie starts, flowers and other unique plants to choose from. I wish their produce was organic but otherwise it's always really fresh and delicious. They have a little area where they sell pies, frozen meat and some other goodies like jellies and queso sauce. Last time I was there I bought a ton of delicious jams, jellies, and mustards that were made from farm ingredients. The farm has tons of fun animals, and a goat petting zoo that you can just walk in whatever you want. I loved the variety of things they have to offer over at Thistledown, and the pumpkin patch is huge! My biggest cons were that parking is absolutely atrocious during busy season, which I definitely expect obviously, but it was bad. And also, some of their younger employees are incredibly rude and unhelpful. Another small note, I really wish someone was working near the goats they have out. Some children were being aggressive towards the animals and no one of authority was there to intervene. That being said, I may still return some time. Maybe when it's less busy. read more

Great product. Grabbed up pickling cucumbers last year, fresh dill and pickling spices to can up and it was so good!! The homemade apple streusel bread is amazing! I had to visit multiple times to get some because my family loved it so much. I purchased a couple quarts of honey of different occasions and I will no longer purchase store bought again. I bought a couple steaks as well and very much enjoyed them. Everything is worth it's price and I'm glad I can support and shop local. Completely worth it all. read more

I am such a sucker for local farms. I was raised on my Grandparents farm, they had a produce stand near the Wheatland Ferry for many years until my Granny could no longer do it herself. So when I can I appreciate the fact I can go to my local produce farms. There is nothing like the taste of local fruits, and veggies. When you get stuff from the grocery store the flavor is just not there. I like this farm because I feel like they are not sell outs like the other big farm down the road. The produce looks, and tastes good for a decent price. They also have frozen fruits, home made pies, honey, and so much more. I wrote a tip a while back about the honey I bought. I said I would update. I bought the raw local honey because I heard it would help with my allergies, I have had a horrible allergy season...well a table spoon a day, almost a month later and so far I still have my allergies, but I think it has helped. I was very miserable to begin with including having to take 2 rounds of antibiotics, and asthma inhaler. Well I don't really need the inhaler now, and forget to take my claratin d. I would recommend trying the raw honey. And you really can't beat the taste. read more

Delicious produce and fun things like salad dressing, jams, pickles. The pickled okra was excellent. Clean, orderly store. Labels on homemade items are blurry and ingredients are difficult to read. Those with food restrictions need a clear ingredient list. Signs all over the store "don't handle/don't touch/don't squeeze" are way overdone. Feels very condescending. Great place to get a pumpkin at the pumpkin patch (take the tractor ride and don't be cheap like me as it is a long walk out there). Their Jone Gold Apples are the best in my opinion and when they hit the store floor, you should be there as the fresher is better. This place closes for the year shortly after Halloween so watch for that. read more

We've been coming here for over 13 years to the pumpkin patch each year and by our local veggies here this year it was really sad not only did we get graded with our service in a bowl by being told that we are not allowed to enter the small Punkin patch they told us to pick out pumpkins from the very front. Not friendly at all it's the same as going to your local Winco to buy your pumpkins check in and check out. Horrible experience I won't go back. read more

I can't believe it took me most of the summer to finally make it out to this farm! I've been here twice now, will continue until this season is over and then they'll for sure see me next year too! Thistledown has a fantastic selection of produce, the vast majority of which is grown right at this farm, and the prices are very reasonable. Cheaper than the nearby grocery stores and fresher! Some of the items are giant, however, so you have to be ready to either prepare a feast or eat the same vegetable for a week straight!! Think beach ball sized cabbages, sweet onions the size of basketballs, and so on. In addition to the fresh offerings, they also stock an assortment of jams, sauces, spices etc., local hazelnuts, and don't miss out on the $1 fresh-baked cookies in the back--White choc mac nut is my fave! There is a nice looking nursery area as well, though I am not much into gardening. Weekends are very busy, so I recommend planning to shop on a weekday if you can. Eugene is farm country and Thistle Down is Eugene's number one farm. More than local, the wonderful berries, corn, peaches, fruit and vegetables are grown right on the farm. A visit during tomato or cherry season is a visit to heaven. And the prices are always great too. read more
