Since just adding Velcro should only cost $10-20 I assumed he understood the technicality. I wanted them for a trip. I picked them up and when I tried them the next day I realized he hadn't listened to a word I said and just added Velcro to the overstretched strap. In fact they were even worse and totally unwearable. I was so disgusted I kept forgetting about it. There are signs in every inch of the shop that say absolutely no refunds. So why bother going into speak to him. I'm always struggling for money and don't want the aggravation of their arrogance. So maybe if it's leather? Anything else complicated you will be screwed

For a business owner to take time out of his day, literally get his hands dirty, and go to such lengths for a customer who might come to Raleigh every five years or so... It speaks volumes about Mr. Gray as a person and business owner. I'm now more informed, equipped with some really good polish, and won't feel so embarrassed about wearing beat-up boots with a suit. Another cool thing, assuming most will be looking/shopping for more than shoe polish, the store's beautifully designed, and chockablock with some of the finest in men's clothing and beautiful footwear. Next, I called Love-Way and the gentleman who answered the phone responded with enthusiasm and absolute confidence that he could both complete the refresh and get it done as soon as I could bring the shoes to him. I immediately headed over and was greeted by the same enthusiast charm that I experienced on the phone. The shop is small and very cluttered with shoes, materials, machines everywhere! This is truly a workshop! None of that fancy retail decoration. This is where work gets done! He took my shoes and asked when I wanted to pick them up. Since the wedding was in a few hours, I said I could wait, if he could do them now. He replied "I'll get on 'em, like ugly on an ape!" And his partner started working on them immediately. As I waited, other customers kept coming, bringing him more and more shoes to repair, from single pairs to laundry baskets full! Obviously, they are very popular and do good work. This place also operates as a combination shoe repair and disc golf shop. This gives the impression that the shoe repair aspect is not taken seriously whatsoever.
