An absolutely perfect B&B experience! My friends and I stayed in one of the six guest rooms and enjoyed the homemade plated breakfast each morning. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, the rooms are clean and well-appointed. If you've never stayed at a bed-and-breakfast, you just might be pleasantly surprised with the camaraderie with the other guests each morning around the coffee station as you wait for breakfast. My daughter surprised me with this 3 night getaway for my birthday over Labor Day weekend. Feeling like a family member when we arrived immediately, we were greeted warmly and given instructions for our stay here. The room was immaculate, nicely decorated and had everything we needed. It was very quiet which allowed us for a great night's rest. The breakfasts were so delicious and much more than I expected at a B&B. The location is perfect! Beauclaires is an inviting, well appointed bed and breakfast, conveniently located a very short distance between the Atlantic Ocean and Washington Street, the center of town, which is populated with many shops and restaurants. My boyfriend and I just returned from a 4 day/3 night stay at Beauclaire's and loved it. Joe is a kind and excellent host who was more than happy to accommodate your needs. This was our first time staying elsewhere in the midst of a pandemic, and we couldn't have felt safer. Masks were worn by Joe & his staff at all times, and by the other guests in common areas. There was always sanitizer, wipes, and disinfectant spray available whenever needed. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast made by Joe on the porch every morning, and we certainly took advantage of the beach badges and bikes included in the stay! The proximity to the beach can't be beat, as well as to the shops, restaurants, etc! We had such a wonderful stay and would definitely stay here again in the future. Thanks for everything, Joe! We just ended our fantastic 2 night stay at Beauclaires. This was our first 'big' trip since the pandemic and we were naturally apprehensive about staying in a home with others. However, our fears were unnecessary. Joe, the host, has done a great job of adjusting his business to make sure all his guests are safe. First was the contactless check in. When we arrived, there was an envelope waiting for us with our room number and details on amenities. Breakfast was socially distanced and everyone wore masks at all times. The breakfast was delicious and evidently some real home cooked food! We stayed in Tyler's Room and it was very comfortable. The shower was amazing! Location is perfect! We booked a two night stay at the inn for our anniversary as we stay in Cape May yearly. While it has an excellent location that was one of the only positives. We recognize that COVID impacts things, however, I frequently travel for work and have never experienced the lack of presence or attention by an inn keeper or hotel staff. Our letter was in an envelope taped to the outside of the inn and the main area was dark. There was a pitcher of iced tea and pre packaged cookies and chips not the crackers and snacks as advertised. Our room was tiny and not clean- with dust all over the headboard, walls and baseboards dingy and dirty. The worst part was the fact that they leave the front door open all night and the mattress was hard as a rock. After having a beautiful dinner out we tried to sleep but the bed was so uncomfortable like sleeping on a board. We texted the inn keeper to see if another room was available, waited 40 minutes then decided to pack up. The inn keeper responded the next day apologizing but stating the mattresses are updated every year and that they couldn't issue a refund for the second night unless they could rebook the room as they have been impacted by COVID. Buyer be aware: read the fine print it states they will not issue refunds for any reason. Lesson learned- book the nice hotels as you will pay more but rest assured. read more

This is the 5th different B&B in as many visits(the previous 3 were sold & new owners didnt continue running them as B&Bs & the 1st one was over 20 yrs ago & just a last second overnite so I dont recall which one it was). House is conveniently located less than a 10 min walk to just about anywhere in the town, private parking(which at times is a huge plus). Inside the usual classic look. As others have stated Joe is a sociable, informational host. He was there waiting for us & gave the same info others mentioned. I'm not sure why a couple others(on this & other hotel sites) mentioned skeleton keys as the door look is operated by buttons that you press certain ones in a sequence(the 2nd door is always left unlocked maybe in the past it wasnt if it was very cold outside?) The room key worked perfectly. The breakfasts were all pretty good(he altered one of the main items w/o hesitation). Only minor items were the "afternoon snacks" while the website shows pics of cheeses/crackers/fruit/wine all 3 days it was iced tea & packaged cookies. Also, 2 of the 3 bathroom lights were out. Fortunately, we dont need super bright light to shower or I'd have not waited until checkout to mention it. I'm guessing since the cleaning lady comes midday she wasnt aware they were out(I did notice a spare bulb in the bathroom cabinet) since she didnt need any lights on to do her job I'd definitely consider coming here again if I'm in a B&B mood my next visit to Cape May read more

Note, I rarely give five stars, I save those for experiences that couldn't reasonably be better. Spent two nights here, off season, before MLK day. Both mornings we were joined by two other personable, interesting couples, who's company we very much enjoyed. The Bed: Very nicely appointed rooms, hardwood bed frames/posts, large windows with dark blinds, claw tub, large mirror, pretty much everything you could ask for. There's a small auxiliary room on the second floor with a couple of fridges, extra glasses, and a dresser in the hallway with additional linens, towels, soaps, etc. The Breakfast: Folks, I'm not a breakfast guy, and probably my nibbling on parts of breakfast offerings are the bane of B&B owners existence. HOWEVER: my wife, our two night breakfast partners and both our one night breakfast partners RAVED about Innkeeper/ Chef Extraordinaire Joe's cooking!!! It would be unfair of me to rate the cooking, but my wife of 27 years LOVED it and our two night breakfast partners admitted they considered asking Joe to cook their anniversary dinner for them. That's saying something. All in all, two doors down from the beach, three (short) blocks from shopping and a bevy of good to fine restaurants, I can't imagine how it could be any better. Although Beauclaires has an unbeatable location to walk to beach, Eateries and Mall, it has been hit by the pandemic. Our room did not have any air conditioning at all. The rooms need attention, the upkeep of their porch ( which could be their gem) and the breakfast needs attention. Joe is a hard working host but is only one person. read more

We stayed at Beauclaire's a few years ago and returned this past weekend. We had nothing less than a lovely time. The suite we stayed in was fully functional yet quaint and comfortable. Joe was a gracious host, making sure when we checked in that we were aware of how to use the front door, skeleton key, Wi-Fi and facilities. He explained some of the history of the house. Breakfasts were delicious and filling. For one morning, we had a gourmet french toast that has just the right amount of cinnamon. My mouth is watering thinking about it as I write this. Joe spent some time with us and the other couples staying to talk about his experiences running Beauclaire's and making suggestions to spend the day. The location is terrific - only steps aware from the tranquility of the beach and hubbub of Washington Square. Beauclaire's has free parking on-site - not a big deal in the winter but would be very useful in the busy summer. We hope to visit again soon. read more

After the Federal Govt. and State of New Jersey announced emergency declarations regarding COVID-19 (Corona Virus), I called to cancel my reservation - giving them notice. During my telephone call, the manager "Joe" seemingly not understanding of the situation hung up the telephone. Notably, in a rush to get paid, the manager charged our account immediately after getting off the telephone. He was seemingly more concerned about pocketing $165 during a national and state emergency. I will never recommend this establishment and tell people to avoid it. read more

This year marked our fifth stay with Joe and Joanne. The Inn is located within 2 minute walk of the beach and has only gotten better over the 8 years since my wife and I first stayed there. We had a lot of concerns due to Covid but they were all allayed by Joe's attention to detail in the emails we received detailing the touchless check in. This was our second time staying on the third floor and we were pleasantly surprised by the new bathroom fixtures in our room. As usual the breakfasts were outstanding even if we only really got to meet one other couple due to the social distancing set up of breakfast. We will be booking another stay for next summer. Joe and Joanne treated us like long lost friends when they recognized us without our masks on (drinking coffee) and I can assure you that you will be treated the same way as first time guests. read more
