Foundry Gymnastics Review - AVOID This Gym at All Costs! I…read morecannot stress this enough--do not send your child to Foundry Gymnastics. My experience with them was a complete disaster, and I want to save other parents from making the same mistake. Here's why you should stay as far away from this gym as possible: 1. Unqualified Coaches Before you even think about enrolling your child, take the time to watch the classes. The coaches at Foundry Gymnastics are incredibly inexperienced, often chosen from the parents sitting in the gym, rather than based on actual qualifications. When my daughter was on the pre-team, the coaching was inconsistent, unstructured, and clearly lacked knowledge. Instead of qualified professionals leading the kids, we saw teenage girls who were barely qualified to run a class. 2. Dangerous Gym Conditions The conditions at Foundry are downright appalling. The equipment is unsafe--the spring floors have rusty nails literally poking through them, and the mats are filthy. It's shocking that the gym hasn't taken any real steps to address these issues, especially considering the potential risks to the children's safety. 3. Misleading Promises of Coaching My daughter was on the pre-team for a year and was eventually promoted to the competition team. We were led to believe that she would get more one-on-one coaching from the head coach--but that couldn't have been further from the truth. The head coach was hardly ever there, and when she was, she barely offered any constructive coaching. Everything the girls learned in pre-team had to be re-taught, as the skills were not properly taught in the first place. 4. Toxic Coaching Environment The real nightmare came with the competition team. The head coach's behavior is appalling. Instead of nurturing the kids and providing constructive feedback, she resorts to yelling and belittling the gymnasts. The kids often ended up cryingand feeling worthless because of her harsh and abusive approach. She would scream at them, telling them they weren't good enough to compete and threaten to pull them from the team without offering any real coaching or guidance. It was emotionally damaging to the kids. 5. Poor Management & Lack of Accountability When I raised my concerns to the gym manager and the head coach, I was essentially told that the head coach didn't want to work with the level 3 girls because of parental issues--basically, she didn't want to be challenged by concerned parents. Instead of addressing the coaching problems, I was told to keep the parents off her back. The owner was also unprofessional about financial matters--I paid all the competition fees on time, and the gym owner held my check for over a month. When I requested a refund for the fees I'd paid, the owner only offered me credit towards another class at the gym, which was completely unacceptable given the situation. 6. High Turnover & Toxic Culture The competition team is tiny--and there's a reason for that. Most of the kids either leave or quit due to the lack of proper coaching and the toxic environment. The gym claims to have a "No Bully Zone," but that's a complete joke. The real bullying is coming from the head coach, who fosters a hostile, unhealthy environment where the kids feel worthless and unappreciated. Conclusion: Save Your Money & Time If you care about your child's well-being, DO NOT send them to Foundry Gymnastics. The dangerous gym conditions, incompetent coaching staff, and toxic environment are not worth the money or emotional toll. I've removed my daughter from this gym, and I regret ever enrolling her there. Please, do yourself and your child a favor--look for a gym that actually cares about its athletes and creates a positive, safe, and supportive environment. Foundry Gymnastics is anything but that.
