He was visiting a friend. He said yes. I said I will not be shopping there anymore. So as I rang my stuff through, he kept chatting with his friend and said snarkingly a couple of times, have a nice evening while he was chatting up his friend. I was the only actual customer and all the staff did their best to ignore me. It's a hardware store. Prices have gone up on everything and I had to serve myself. I used to love shopping at Rona because of the great customer service and because I was in the area I decided to stop in. Big mistake. Back to Home Depot and Canadian Tire for me.

Putting your phone number on file with them is a good idea in case you need to return a defective low cost item. Don't worry, in all my years of shopping here they've never phoned me once. Set their online flyer as a bookmark in your browser as they have some great door crashes. Also being such a big store I often find they will have niche hard to find items. They also have more in store than is listed on their website so it's worth a trip in. Mind you it's easy to end up killing two hours browsing here.

I chose this model specifically because I understood cypress to be naturally rot- and mold-resistant. When I asked staff before purchasing, I was told the wood did not need to be sealed or stained and would simply grey naturally over time -- which I was fine with. What I wasn't expecting was such rapid mold growth. When I contacted customer service, they agreed this should not have happened, apologized, and offered a refund -- which I appreciate. However, I'm still disappointed, as this leaves me with the inconvenience of either dismantling and returning the table to buy another one, or spending time cleaning, sanding, and treating it myself to make it usable. Given the severity of the mold, I now question whether this is truly made of cypress heartwood, or if a softer/less durable wood such as pine or poplar was used instead. Overall, I'm frustrated by the poor material quality and lack of durability.

The new Winnipeg store placed this greatness much closer - but then I moved and I can only buy from these guys every so often. They started as the best woodworking tool store out there and their planes set a new standard in the field. But in the last 5 years they have moved into gardening and more. If you just wander around the store or check out their catalogues, I am sure they have a solution to a problem you are currently trying to sort.
