As someone who doesn't really club at all and is looking for a place to just have some fun and dance in a low pressure environment, this is the perfect place. I came here on Halloween last year, and I had fun but the music wasn't really my vibe, so I was happy when my sister wanted to celebrate her birthday here and we saw they were doing a Y2k night! All the songs they played were classics that everyone knows, and it was so much fun. The bar is pretty large and there's a lot of space to dance. They don't let it get too crowded, so it never feels unsafe or too hot. The decor inside is like a retro 1960s salon, making it great for photos. There's also a photo booth where you get 1 colored and 1 black and white strip ($7). They charge a cover around 9pm I think, so just get there before then so you won't have to pay. We got there around 8pm on a Saturday and barely anyone was there, but around 9pm more and more people started to show up. There's usually a line if you get there later because they limit the amount of people inside. Also keep in mind cocktails were $16 and there's a card minimum of $20, which basically forces you to buy two if you're using card. The drinks are super strong and they definitely do not skimp lol. I can't say I frequent bars much these days, but when a close friend wanted to celebrate her 45th bday and getting thru a recent divorce with a night of dancing I was happy to hit the bars. We started with dinner at Good Funk (sooo good) and then walked over to Beauty Bar. We joined the line of women waiting to get in when I remarked that I don't really wait in line these days- especially in 20 degrees! My friend suggested we go up to the bouncer and talk our way in as we used to in the good old days, but I looked around and noticed we were 20 years older than everyone else...so figured that wouldn't work! Regardless it was worth a shot so we went up the bouncer and tried to talk our way in...and denied! Finally enough people left the bar that they let us in to crowds and crowds of women. We paid the the cover fee of $15 and I was delighted to see that in 2026 you could pay bars with apple pay! I'll admit this wasn't really my scene these days, but we made the best of it and started dancing away. The music was really great! My friend warned me that the best drinks were served in cans so I ordered a high noon. At one point my friend and I had to use the restroom so we pushed our way thru the hundreds of sweaty women. Plus the 3 men who showed up after an epic beads game. Our biggest complaint was that there was nowhere to hang our purse in the bathroom, which i'm sure the rest of the under 28 crowd wasn't worried about. At midnight our carriage (aka party bus) arrived so it was time to leave Beauty Bar. I can't say I was sad, but it was definitely an experience and always fun to go dancing at a bar every decade or so these days. And, most importantly, the bday gal had a blast! read more

This is my favorite bar in Chicago! I've been coming here for years, and the staff is always incredible! Everyone is extremely friendly, respectful and accommodating!! The only problem that I have is the temperature in this place. It's seemingly over 100°? I'm not sure if they're having air-conditioning problems or what is going on? I brought a friend in, from out of town. We ended up having to leave shortly after arriving because she nearly passed out due to the extreme temperature. It felt like a death sentence in there. I loved the aesthetic and vibes of this place, so when I saw the 90s night advert: I had to come. 60s bar with 90s music, sign me up :) I went with my friends, dressed in theme, and we waited about 20 minutes on a Saturday night around 10pm, which I'd say isn't too bad. This place got VERY crowded, with not a lot of dancers on the dance floor. I was disappointed there was no coat check, and a $20 minimum for card use wasn't so great when I don't drink personally. It also felt impossible to get drinks (maybe I didn't push people enough I suppose), which was a bit frustrating. Not going to blame the bartenders when the entire place is extremely full. This was my first time at the Beauty Bar and I went there with my daughter and her best friend (my daughter turned 21 and wanted to "club" lol) so we was early and I'm very happy about that cuz we were right in front when they started letting ppl in the door. (Btw. If u go be sure to get there early! I am glad I finally made it to see Beauty Bar with my daughter for her birthday party night. It was a busy Saturday night, so we waited outside in the line for about 15-20 minutes after 10 p.m. The crowd was young and moving to the 90s Dance party sounds. We were lucky enough to get seated in the front corner area for our party and remained close enough to dance to the great music. As expected in Chicago, we experienced lots of people in a small area, expensive drinks, and sticky floors. But it sure was fun! I don't know what I was expecting, but I was happy to find that the staff at the doors were super friendly and got our whole party (close to 20 of us) in the door pretty fast. Been going to this bar/club all summer! Beauty Bar is a pretty small-ish dancey bar with tons of themed nights which I love. Located a tad on the outskirts of the city, Beauty Bar has a great location away from the true hustle & bustle during the Chicago party scene on weekends. One thing I especially love is you can RSVP for free on their themed nights for free cover before 10pm. This is the perfect spot to have a girls night and dance out. The line does get pretty long after 10pm and they usually do charge cover after, so I recommend RSVPing and arriving before 10pm if you can. This place gets PACKED, like most bars/clubs do in the city on weekends. How the club is layed out is the bar is on the first floor and then little a small step up, there's the DJ booth with a dance floor and lit-up decor. I wish so bad the dance floor was bigger; this space in general is relatively small. I find myself not having enough room to dance at times. The vibes are fun, the drinks are standard, and the themed nights are a win. I definitely recommend Beauty Bar for going out in the city! read more

New favorite bar to go for dancing in Chicago. Went to the emo vs pop punk night on Sunday and 80's night (on a Friday) in the same week. Sunday was a moderate crowd. It was fun until it got very screamo with the music which isn't our vibe. But the first couple of hours were fun. 80's night on Friday was PACKED. Very hard to get a drink. So much fun otherwise on the dance floor. The music is very loud so I do suggest bringing ear plugs if you are sensitive at all to loud music. My ears hurt a bit the next day (and not from a hangover haha), so I'll be bringing some next time I go. Can't wait to check out the other theme nights! read more

This place is great. Lots of diversity in people, music, and overall just a great vibe. It makes me feel like I'm a San Francisco dance bar with such a diverse crowd. The night we went, there was no cover thankfully, and the DJs were on point. They also had a quick drag show performance in the middle and I like how their dance floor is set up in general. This was such a fun, surprising place I ended up going to with my brother and some of his friends. It's very much a girls bar and we definitely saw one or 2 bachelorette parties going on. It's not a big place at all but they do have an area to dance and a designated dance floor with a disco ball and everything. The music was really fun to dance too and they've also got manicure stations at the front of the room when you first walk in. We got there early and was able to snag a spot to sit. I tried the Pomadour martini and it was super good, I would have ordered another one but it was $14, which is a tad steep for me. Their well drinks, like a vodka tonic or vodka cranberry were around 6 bucks, which is definitely more reasonable. The music was great and the vibe was fun and inclusive. We signed up for the RSVP girls night before the cut off in line but they didn't let us in (as they let at least 10 other people who did the same exact thing as us in). Went there for the first time tonight. Music was a good mix of oldies and modern of different genres. Was having a great time dancing with my girlfriends until some creep came up to me and started grabbing me and touching me inappropriately. Despite me moving away multiple times he continued to harass me. I went to security and they immediately escorted him out and made sure I had what I needed. Typical downtown bar experience to start but as the night went on it got extremely over crowded. Bar service was severely understaffed to handle the crowd they let in (at $30 cover at one point), super rude and refused to serve waters for people on the overly packed and hot dance floor. Bartenders enforcing a $20+ minimum per order, no waters allowed apparently no matter what you ordered. Bad DJ, bad bar service, half pours on shots and mixed drinks.
