a bottle of beer on a bar counter

Passed this bar handful of times over last 4 years. Checked it out about a month ago. The purple light was enticing. Was taken aback by $7 cover charge and had no idea it had a goth theme. Cocktail list is decent and found a beer I like. Didn't care much form the music the old movie they were showing was interesting.

Got your bars and got your community. The late bar is a safe haven for your new wavers, goth inclined, and punks. The walls are lined with solid promo on up and coming events from the next themed nights to the occasional band promo. The drinks are inexpensive and with the hours of this bar you can go on dancing or talking to folks till the wee hours of the morning. Ive come a handful of times and I enjoy my time here each time. I love the layout with tables and seats closer to the entrance and an open dance floor at the end. Given the taste in music and style, there is definitely no judgement when you come here. The music is usually accompanied with music videos being projected on the big screen. The floor is covered with folks dancing to their own rhythm. And a great feature is the DJ has an open call clipboard in case you want to add a suggestion. Truly a gem in Chicago. P.s. Shoutout to the team for holding onto my duffel bag when I forgot it a few weekends ago. Can't thank you all enough.

This bar reminds me of SF bars and m Race the bartender know here stuff. The horchata martini was a little sweet for my taste but she made me the most amazing vodka club soda with passion fruit, I loved it! Fully carbonated. Great music, cook decor and parking (I dad a dd by the way;) will be back

WOW! What an opening night ! There was a line out the door to get a taste of the new music and dance sensation to hit the Avondale/Portage Park neighborhood. The vibe is old-school new wave meets modern day cocktail lounge all wrapped up in a neighborhood bar. Think black, purple and painted white mannequins...and the music...ahhhhhhhh...the music...The triumphant return of "Planet Earth", DJ Dave Roberts' musical symphony of classic new wave club classics...throw in some eclectic art, a vintage draft beer tap system, far out video, an "Electric Dream" cocktail and a blast- from- the- past doorman. Voila! It's La La La Late Bar....and it's open La La La LATE....(til 4AM, 5AM Saturday) You've done this new wave fan and Duran Duran proud! Welcome!

    Dear DJ Peroxide....

Drinks reasonably priced, would go back just for that. Kind of odd crowd but ended up okay.

However, Our Experience Quickly Turned Sour Due To The Behavior Of One Staff Member, Ashley, The Bartender. Out Of Our Party Of 15, One Person Had A Drink From Emporium, Which They Mistakenly Brought In After We Had Already Ordered Multiple Rounds From The Bar. Instead Of Addressing The Situation Calmly Or Discreetly, Ashley Came To Our Table And Aggressively Grabbed The Drink Out Of The Person's Hand, Loudly Stating, "We Don't Sell This, And You're Lucky I Don't Kick You Out For Having It!" We Completely Understand And Respect Policies About Outside Drinks. However, The Way Ashley Handled The Situation Was Absolutely Unprofessional And Unnecessarily Confrontational, Especially Considering How Much Our Party Had Been Ordering All Night. Her Actions Were Rude And Disrespectful To A Group That Had Come To Celebrate And Spend Money At The Venue. We've Spent Many Nights At Slippery Slope In The Past, But This Experience Left Such A Bad Impression That None Of Us Plan To Return. I Can Only Hope Ashley Has Some Personal Stake In This Business To Justify Treating Customers This Way--And That She's Paid Well For It--Because Her Behavior Just Cost The Bar 15 Loyal Patrons.

That's rare, especially on a busy night in Chicago. The vibe inside was everything. Music had me dancing all night--they really know how to keep the energy going with a mix of Top 40, hip hop, R&B, Latin, and a little EDM in the mix. Service was top tier. Our server checked in right away and didn't disappear after the first round. She was on point the whole night. Even the bartender was friendly, fast, and fun to talk to. You could tell the staff actually wanted to be there and made sure guests felt taken care of. And let's not ignore how good the place looks. Galeria is a whole aesthetic. Every corner is Instagram-worthy. If you love nightlife but hate the hassle, this is your spot. No drama, just a dope crowd, great music, and real service. Definitely a go-to for me now. Highly recommend.

We visited La Galeria this past weekend, only to have a terrible experience from start to finish…read more We were told to arrive by 11 PM with no mention of any time limit on the table. At 12:50 AM, we were suddenly told there was a strict 2-hour limit, something never communicated upfront. Not by the person we booked with, not by the door guy when we arrived, not by the employee that walked us to our table, and not by the girl who took our bottles order. When we asked for proof, staff couldn't provide any and instead blamed the promoter, taking zero accountability. I've never experienced a "time limit" for bottle service anywhere, not even Las Vegas where bottle service is such a big part of the nightlife, so this was especially frustrating. After us pushing back on the "time limit", staff kept passing by our table checking how much of the bottles we had left, which made the experience feel rushed and uncomfortable. The service overall was disappointing, and our server even appeared to be intoxicated so at least she had a good time. We specifically chose this club to see DJ Orma (Bad Bunny's DJ), whose set didn't even start until 2:00 AM. Despite that, the general manager and busboy came and cleared out our section around that time while we weren't even finished. I believe it was a made-up policy to turn tables and maximize profit for the night. They are probably used to people just saying yes and not giving push back. At one point I spoke to the Owner who was apologetic so I'll give him that but between the lack of transparency, poor communication, and dismissive attitudes from everyone we interacted with, this was an extremely disappointing experience. For the price point and claiming to an "upscale" nightlife establishment, this level of service is completely unacceptable. Don't waste your time or money. There are so many other good nightlife options in Chicago that won't ruin your experience.

Notable things: Bonus points for a having a free parking lot (and easy street parking) It's cash only Good vibes. Very eclectic mix of people (especially because it was weekend before Halloween so the costumes were entertaining). A+ for never feeling creeped out by any of the patrons. They were all very supportive of people singing and gave us tips about how to search for songs on the app if we wanted to do that instead of look through the book. The karaoke seems to be first come first served, so we got there a little after 10 and no one from our group sang until 2am (from what I heard the next day. I tapped out at 1:30am). The same handful of people kept singing every few songs, so they must have all gotten there early and put in like 20 songs each. There were also a lot of repeats (I heard "What's Up?" by 4NB 4 times in the first hour I was there). It would be nice if the KJ bumped newer people up sooner before circling back to people who had already sung like 7 times, and if they pushed back song repeats, but in the end we're all just there for a good time and everyone sings along to everything, so it's fine. They card everyone and do scrutinize closely, which is good. One younger-looking girl in our group had to pull back her hair to prove it was her in her photo because her license photo had her hair slicked back. Food was decent. I didn't drink anything but the people I was with seemed happy with their drinks/they kept ordering more. They have video slots. One person in our group won $60 and one person lost $10 in 30 seconds, so it's hit or miss lol. I didn't go to the bathroom while I was there so I can't speak to cleanliness that other reviewers have mentioned. They're open to 4am, which is awesome. I tapped out at 1:30 because I'm old now, but if I was in my 20s I'd love the 4am thing. I'd go back with a group again.
