On the farm's website, I also read that throughout the year, Shenot Farm offers events such as hayrides; pick-your-own flowers, apples, and pumpkins; and pumpkin-smashes. In the autumn they sell flowers, pumpkins, cornstalks, Thanksgiving turkeys, and fruit baskets, and in the winter they sell Christmas trees and wreaths. On a Saturday, my husband and I visited this farm's market to browse their foods. We parked our vehicle in their free parking lot. Inside the market, we saw foods such as lettuce, cabbage, green beans, brussels sprouts, beets, plums, sausages, chicken meats, eggs, milk, cheeses, apple ciders, cookies, pies, fudges, popcorns, jams, bread loaves, bagels, seasonings, sauces and dressings, salsas, applesauces, syrups, dessert mixes, granolas, teas, honeys, ice creams, etcetera! We also saw some non-food items such as candles and t-shirts. I selected an orange-colored "cheddar" cauliflower head, apple crisp mix, caramel-apple-pie fudge, and jars of banana butter, strawberry jelly, and apple butter. My husband and I had not previously eaten a few of the unique products, so we felt excited to try them. At the checkout counter, an employee promptly greeted us, accurately rang up our purchase, carefully bagged our foods, and thanked us. Each food cost roughly several dollars.

They were bringing pumpkin over in a box from another section of the farm, then placing them on the ground. So there was still a lot of pre-cut pumpkins to choose from. The cost to walk up to the patch is $2 and the hay ride is $5 I believe. The store has a great selection of fresh produce, desserts, and some meat options. We love Shenot Farms!

My husband commented that the prices were lower than what many grocery stores charge for lower-quality produce. I bought one Jumbo Zucchini and two ears of corn. When I got home, I measured the zucchini, and it was about 15 inches long and had a circumference of 10.5 inches! I cooked one-third of the zucchini as a side for dinner for two people, and I liked that the zucchini had no blemishes and tasted so good. For the next meal, I cooked the corn. The corn was small to medium in size, but it was juicy and flavorful. I decided to search for this farm online to learn more about it. According to the farm's website, it is a small, family-operated farm that is not USDA-certified organic, but it grows only non-GMO produce, and it uses organic farming practices. Organic--yay! :) This farm's website said that customers may purchase the produce not only through the Oakmont Farmers Market but also through the Bellevue Farmers Market and the Cranberry Township Farmers Market. Furthermore, this farm offers a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. The CSA prices vary based on the size of your family (e.g., individual/couple, small, or large) and if you sign up for a half season (8 weeks biweekly) or full season (16 weeks). Several pickup locations are available throughout the Pittsburgh metropolitan area.

I turned around and bought a pint of some the best looking strawberries that I've seen in quite awhile. I was there late and their produce was flying off the table. Because I have every other Friday off, on the weeks I'm not working that day, I'll go to the one in Bloomfield instead. They have a decent selction of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, and cheeses. Not all of it is organic though. Even so, although you might pay a little more than at Giant Eagle, the produce here is way better. I don't know--I guess fruit and veggies are always better when they have flavor. And of course, it's always fun schlepping home a shopping bag full of produce and my briefcase on the bus.

Not crunchy at all with the shell of it like I had hoped. The carrot ice cream felt stale and was a bit boring to everyone except the kid in the party. It was just vanilla and the wafer was stale but fun to look at. There was also meat-looking ice cream bars that looked like crunchy fried chicken and also steak. I wish I had tried those instead. The ramen abomination was like $18. I'm not sure what possessed me to ingest it... maybe it was the strange videos advertising it on the screens where the elote was pumping in and out of the ramen container and causing it to overflow.
