As the saying goes "Not exactly roughing it!" Beaver Creek Ski resort is the top place to ski in the Rockies IMHO. We have enjoyed many fun days on the slopes when out west. Never too crowded. Great staff. Excellent accommodations. Start off at the Centennial lifts and enjoy! Don't forget to catch the chef serving fresh baked chocolate chip cookies at 4pm at the bottom of the mountain. ;) Plus, Après ski at the Ritz Carlton is the best. We LOVED this place. Kids ski school is right front and center for families with little ones. Haymeadow has some great little learning hills and magic carpets. Green runs are amazing and McCoy park was super fun to play around with the adults. Live music daily and a great beverage tent set outside. We had a blast! Beautiful and luxurious ski resort. Every detail is thought about carefully for a top notch customer experience in regard to the village and getting you into the resort. The ski resort itself was not laid out the best. It wasn't the easiest to get around and go from one end of the park to the other. This is definitely a resort for more experienced skiers and those who prefer natural conditions vs groomed. Also to note there are a lot of trails that are flat and some are not hard packed so getting past them can be physically difficult. Perhaps it was the day I was there but it's worth mentioning. We did not see any of the legendary cookies or hot chocolate the day we were there either. A little disappointing. read more

Ski city. This is a more dense environment than Vail, Telluride or Aspen and thus is it's own unique, easy to get around setting. While many come for winter, spring can be quite enjoyable if you can avoid the slush and summer has a seasonal appeal all its own. Can't wait for the wildflowers. read more

Amazing skiing I've skied one many places all over but this is without doubt the high end of class accommodations and great mountain skiing. The bus system is all free and gets you to the slopes, quickly comfortably. Expect escalators to move you from the bus to the snow. Food and drinks on the resort is expensive. Have been to BC a couple of times before but always only for a day or two. This time got a much better feel for the mountain after being there for 5 days. Didn't have much fresh snow to start but it snowed all day in midweek, enough to improve the conditions for the next few days on both groomed and ungroomed runs. BC is by far the best Colorado resort I've seen for beginners and intermediates, with an impressive selection of green trails of varying degrees of difficulty. The newly opened McCoy Park, which used to be a Nordic and snowshoe area has the easiest, wide open trails, followed by the area around the Red Buffalo lift, with the best tree skiing, and lastly the area between Bachelor Gulch and Arrow Bahn lifts with some more hilly and slightly steeper greens as well as many fairly standard but interesting blues. Although the ratio of black and double black trail are relatively low, there are still plenty of them here, concentrated in the Grouse Mountain area as well as interspersed in between many of the blues. Due to Covid protocols restaurants on the mountain require vaccination proof to eat indoors (copies - digital or paper - of vax card are accepted). They'll give you a sticker to put on your pass so you won't have to carry the card after showing it the first time. Restaurants also require advance online reservations to eat indoors. However, on sunny days, it's warm enough and much nicer to just sit outside anyway. One other thing, not necessarily just due to Covid - they no longer offer mountain tours nor give out paper trail maps anymore. Of course you can get the map online but it's much less convenient. So if you have an old paper map don't throw it out - most of the info are he same except for details in McCoy park since it's new. You might also check with the ski patrol staff who might still have some old paper maps around. read more

The trees are my happy place. I just finished 3 days at Vail, and though I prefer that resort's tree runs, I enjoyed the steep terrain and wildlife. Huge shoutout to the simple bus system here. The naming convention makes it easy to know how to shuttle up and back down. The facilities were nicer than Vail, and if you're looking to chill in the village while your friends ski, this isn't a bad spot. Recomend, wish I had more time to adventure here! read more

Beaver Creek is great for families, and the breadth of dining / recreation options in and around the village are fantastic. The kids adventure zones, and cookie stops (not during covid) are great to keep kids engaged, which seems to magically translate into them no longer being tired, hungry, cold, etc. and that means more ski time for you. Even the little restroom cabin just under Cinch lift's drop off is great; you don't have to go hiking into a lodge and figure out how to get down four flights of stairs in ski boots, just pop off, walk in, done. As far as skiing goes, that is also great for families and those earlier in their skiing progression. Unlike many mountains, some of the easiest slopes are at the top, so you get views you may not have otherwise had. Many of these greens and blues are incredibly wide as well, so plenty of room to move around without risk. That has its negatives too though, because it can feel like you're skiing down a football field at times, not a trail. Beginners getting off the mid-mountain area is also sometimes a challenge, as their long route down (Cinch) crosses plenty of advanced trails where people are blasting across. My real complaint about BC is the way certain lifts needed to cross the mountain close early AND they don't post the hours on the trail map or lift status pages. If you're staying at the Ritz, Westin, etc. served by the western lifts, and are on the main mountain, you're only option is to ski down and pole/walk your way over to Strawberry by 4pm to get home. If they'd let Larkspur stay open until 4, you could instead enjoy more of the main mountain and take Primrose back without the mess of going through the base area. Or, on that Ritz/Westin side, those lifts close at 3:30p too, so if you need to get to the main mountain before close, you have to get started way early because crossing those lifts takes a while. read more

Beaver Creek is a high end mountain resort town for the whole family to love. From Denver, CO head about 2 hours west on I-70 and you are there. At an elevation of about 8000ft, be ready for all the benefits of the Rocky Mountain wilderness with high end creature comforts of the surrounding community. Only downside might be once you are out here there is not much else around except other resort towns within 30 minutes (Vail, Copper Mtn). Probably known most as a ski resort, the mountain offers 24 ski lifts and 150 ski trails with over 1800 acres of skiable area. Pro tip: after a long day of skiing, you can find the staff handing out free fresh baked cookies at the base of the mountain! If skiing is not your thing, you will find other activities such as dining, shopping and the spa. They have fire pits all over the place to enjoy. I imagine hiking is great in the summer but I haven't visited in the summer. There are lots of options for lodging at Beaver Creek. Hotel, condos, houses; whatever suits your needs, you are bound to find. Overall, this is a great destination to enjoy with family and friends! read more

My family and I have enjoyed skiing and snowshoeing in BC for years. McCoy Park has always been a special joy, as its miles of trails were previously dedicated to snowshoeing and cross country skiing only. The place was a special experience with gorgeous views that offered a spot for serenity in the middle of a fun ski resort. Recently management opened up most of the McCoy trails to skiers, and snowboarders which is weird because it's pretty flat up there, and couldn't be much of a downhill challenge. Now snowshoers and cross country people have to compete for space on trails with the usual ebullient ski crowd. Dedicated space has shrunk to a trail or two. Not only has management ruined a unique area, but they are jacking up lift tickets to get there. Pay more and get less! I've always loved BC, but this was a bad decision for everyone. read more

If you keep tabs on skiing and ski resorts, you'd know by now that Vail owns the Beave as well, along with others, and all are in the Epic system. They are only 20 minutes apart on I70. Surprisingly, the walk-up ticket price is the same for both! So why go to BC when Vail is like 3 times as big? No, it's not just for the end-of-day cookies either (they pass those around starting around 2-3 p.m.) Beaver Creek has a bit more of a homey-family feeling, and small sometimes works better when you're skiing with kids. Plus, it really is plenty big enough, thank you very much. On weekends, Vail's lines can get challenging, while BC would be somewhat more manageable. They have a little skating pond, and gondolas with heated seats. Acre for acre, it is better groomed than Vail, if you have a preference for groomed runs. They also have excellent customer service (I'm sure Vail does too). On my most recent visit, I came out of lunch to find my skis and poles ... gone!! Who would steal my skis, when my friend's brand new ones are right there next to mine. We began to suspect it was mistaken identity, since someone's rented skis sitting close by kinda looked like mine. We reported it to a ski ambassador, and they sprang into action. I got to get a pair of rentals until mine were found, at no charge. And sure enough, they were "found" where they'd been left the next day. No explanation though - it'll always remain a mystery the journey it was on. If only skis could talk! read more

We came for a family vacation. We were here during the weekdays, which made it amazing, as the mountains were not crowded at all. Now, I'm going to talk about what really made my experience unique, and it was the lesson Elle gave me, I cannot say all instructors are the same, but she did my trip so much better. I took a private lesson (full day) on day one because I had hit a plateau with my skills. Well, she definitely made me pass to the next level, corrected me with so much patience and made sure she would say it in different ways so I would get it. When she got that my engineering side kicks in, she explained the physics rules and how my position and those physics affected by balance, so it was way faster for me to get all. Let me explain why I wanted to take a lesson, usually, I was an extremely slow skier, I was in control but when I got the speed I felt very untrusty of my capabilities, after the lesson and corrections I was able to keep up with the rest of my party, she definitely changed completely my confidence and ski style so I could go to a more dynamic style. So if you go and you're thinking of lessons, request her! Now, let's talk about the restaurants in the mountain, I had lunch at Talons and the one in Arrowhead Village, Broken Arrow. I have to say both chilis were really good, we also had at Talons the brisket sandwich, pretty good and at Broken Arrow an Epic burger. I loved that the people at each restaurant would recommend their favorites and why they liked them. Overall we loved the experience at this ski resort! read more

I leave this review as a home owner vs a vacationer. I think highly of the resort and still recommend it to friends. But the experience as a home owner is a bit of a letdown compared to being a visitor. The community services are good and most employees are super friendly. The main complaint that I, and others, have is Beaver Creek Security. The security staff and community relations people are wanna be cops who spend their whole day "policing" every little HOA rule and community rule. I'm all for community rules but having security people taking photos of your house 4-5 times a day to find issues to cite is exhausting. read more

Beaver Creek is rated in the top 5 family ski resorts annually for very good reasons. The most important reasons deal with the amazing runs, high speed, high capacity lifts, perfectly groomed trails and terrain. The staff and ski school are amazing. You would think you have your own cheerleaders given how nice everyone is to you. Off the slopes there is so much to do as well in the village and nearby. In Beaver Creek village you can dine on top-notch culinary treats, watch the kids ice skate, or browse art galleries. The free transportation options are amazing too. There are buses that will pick you up every 15 minutes at the local hotels. There are free parking lots at the base with free shuttles. There are even ski lifts that go directly from a few hotels right to the snow. One of the great aspects of Beaver Creek is that there are ample green trails at the top of the mountain, which is great because that means that there are easy slopes up high where the temps stay cold all day and the snow never turns slushy. Don NOT buy your epic pass until you are 100% sure you can travel during the booked time. You can NOT get any refund if you can not travel due to local government travel restrictions. The epic coverage is a joke!!! My husband and I brought two epic-4-day passes and reserved 4 days of ski on 12/15, 12/16, 12/18 and 12/19/2020 at Beaver creek ski resort. One of the major reason I booked the trip was because on their epic pass website they included an epic coverage that they promised to give a refund when the trip was canceled due to mandatory stay at home order from county/state/county. Several days before our trip, our local government (City of Chicago) issued an emergency travel order that restricts us from traveling to Colorado during our booked time. In that emergency travel order, Colorado was listed as one of the highest level of restricted states. I immediately tried to cancel the trip. However, no one was answering the phone when I try to call vail for cancelation and refund. I end up waiting for 6 hours in the online chatting room and eventually they send me a link to submitted all required documents to get a refund. After several weeks, however, I received an email saying that "Government travel guidance that does not prohibit the use of your pass such as general quarantines and lodging restrictions are not refund events under the Epic Coverage terms and conditions. Epic Coverage also does not provide refunds for apprehension or inconvenience related to COVID-19." What a joke! Now that my travel was canceled and I can not get any refund. I would give 0 stars if I can. Avoid travel to any vail resorts this year at all cost. read more

Our family comes out each summer from Florida and it is such a great time. We have come back now in the winter to take the kids snowboarding. The conditions of the runs are so nice. One of the best. The only down side is it seems they don't pay the ski staff enough to have all the runs open. I have heard from some staff members over the years that the pay is not great compared to the cost to live out near Beaver Creek or Vail. It would be nice for the price you pay to ski at Beaver Creek that they would get staff and open the runs before Christmas week. read more

Absolutely fabulous ski resort! The best service and amenities anywhere! They have great tour guides to show you around the mountain and give you tidbits of information about the area. In the afternoon they give out chocolate covered strawberries and a few minutes later fresh baked chocolate chip cookies at another location. Super friendly and helpful staff everywhere! They even hand out post cards that you fill out and hand back, and they'll post them for you! Base Mountain Sports can help you sort out equipment problems, and they're awesome too!
