They used Dayton Children's for anesthesiologist services, scheduled through themself with insurance pre authorization through the Dentistry practice. My story is that we paid $500 before the procedure as an estimated cost. Following the surgery, we were hit with $14k bill from Dayton Children's and $600 more from the dentist. We have medical and dental insurance. The dentistry practice got preauthorization for it. So what actually happened then? How can it go from $500 to $15k. My wife's labor cost was lower. I strongly feel that Centerville Pediatric does not care holistically about the patient or their families. They want that sweet sweet $$$$, and refuse to help you figure out why we got a $14k bill despite them scheduling and getting pre-authorization for the service. When I asked for help several times over months to figure out the billing error, they finally said they will send to collections. "They bill separately." Yeah yeah, but you scheduled it and got preauthorization. You should have been transparent about costs instead of trapping us without recourse.

This place is not a safe and welcoming environment for children, especially any with sensory…read moresensitivities or anxieties. I took my children here three times for cleanings and once for fillings. They are so booked that they do not take the time to comfort children who are struggling or go back to skipped steps (e.g. x-rays) because it is a very uncomfortable process and they are far from gentle in placing the slide in the child's small mouth. In fact, there were multiple children crying at my kids' last cleaning and one of the hygienists told a child to "stop being a cry baby." This child not accompanied by a parent as the child was in foster care. They always seem to have lots of foster kids being seen with extensive offerings of unnecessary treatments, taking advantage of a sensitive population for monetary gain at the expense of already traumatized and mistreated children. The hygienists gossip around corners about the children with nothing positive to ever say. During my child's filling, the Dentist even tried to tell my kid that he was numb and couldn't feel anything and to stop moving. I stepped in and clarified that there are known genetics that anesthesia resistance and that it is only right to believe the child when they say it hurts. Only then was another injection of lidocaine given. Don't let the TVs above each cleaning table or the prizes fool you. They do not tell the kids step-by-step what they are going to do and do not make any accommodations. This place has traumatized my kids and me to the point we are anxious to try any dentist. They are also outdated in their practices when considering who sealants are best for, when a spacer should be placed, using high flouride on baby teeth to spare the trauma of an unnecessary tiny cavity having to be filled before it falls out on its own, or remineralization and prebiotics education to parents much less as a treatment. Such a disappointment from our wonderful pediatric dentist in another state. The two positive comments that I have are 1. My children were vomiting sick all night before a cleaning and I called to notify first thing in the morning of this pop-up illness, which they did change their appointments with no cancellation charge and 2. They front ladies are not stingy with the rewards (e.g. they will trade-out an unwanted colored ball for a desireable one). Otherwise, this is a meat market of children's dentistry. Never leave your child alone here and better yet, avoid the trauma of this place all together.

PSA TO PARENTS. I had posted asking if any parents had any…read moreexperiences with Dayton Kids Dental Center earlier this week. Well, I've finally cracked and I want to warn every parent out there to NOT take your kids there. No matter what. Here's my experience : I want to start off by saying I am a very hard person to make angry, but after my experiences with this office, I am SEETHING. I will start from the beginning, I brought my four daughters in for their first visit (a simple cleaning). I know first impressions can be off putting so even though this office was dirty, ghetto, and slightly unprofessional I gave it another chance. My 2nd visit was to have my 5 years olds cavities filled. Our appointment was at 8:30am and I showed up 10 minutes early but was told "we tried to call you for a reminder but because we don't have a number on file, we had to cancel your appointment." I had received a text message the day before for a confirmation, and filled out FOUR sets off patient forms on our first visit so I KNOW they had my phone number. I let it go, and scheduled another appointment a month later. At that appointment my 5 year old was not scared at all but by the end of the appointment she was traumatized and had experienced her first panic attack because the dentist said "she didn't need any numbing medication or laughing gas and the fillings wouldn't hurt at all". But while she was attempting to drill these cavities out of my 5 YEAR OLD I could see the absolute terror on her face and the very obvious pained expression. The dentist and the assistant made it seem like my 5 YEAR OLD was at fault and how she was acting ridiculous. Mind you, this was her VERY FIRST experience with cavities. Again, I let it go. My final straw was when I brought my 4 year old in for her cavities. After calling more than 5 times between their very first appointment (October) I finally got them to schedule her (January). Because hers were more extensive she had to be under anesthesia. This would be her first time with anesthesia. They brought her and I to a room about the size of a broom closet, and had us sit and wait for the anesthesiologist. The dentist came and talked to me, and he was in street clothes, not scrubs. Then I watched the man I would later find out was the anesthesiologist, come inside looking like a homeless person that hadn't showered in days. He must have went to a back room and changed out of his street clothes and into scrubs because when he came to me in the closet like room he had them on, but his hair looked as it he hadn't brushed it in days. He proceeded to tell me what would happen. I will give credit where credit is due though because when they give my daughter a shot (which he told me was a calming shot), she did not panic because he handled it very well and made sure she was distracted. Then I was left in the room, holding my 4 year old while I watched the drug take affect. I personally had never experienced this, but watching my daughter go from talking to me, to limp in my arms with her eyes still wide open was absolutely terrifying. I wanted to cry. The anesthesiologist came in to check on us, and literally picked her up from my arms and carried her back. No wheel chair, bed, nothing. The procedure went well, from what I was told and about 30 minutes later I was holding my 4 year old in one of their rooms. She was still asleep. Her lips where extremely cracked and bleeding, her nose had dried blood all in it, and there was blood on her shirt. Once she started to wake up some (took about 15 minutes and I held her the whole time) we were allowed to leave. I was so upset at this point I couldn't see straight. I cried on the way home. Later that night her under eyes started to pop up with blood blisters. Multiple. Indicating that they were EXTREMELY rough with my 4 YEAR OLD. Then not even a WEEK later, 5 days to be exact, one of her silver caps fell out. I will NEVER go back to this place and I will advise EVERYONE against it. I honestly felt as if I took my kids to a back alley dentist in Mexico. This has all been a terrifying experience. And now I must try to find someone to see my 4 year old to get another cap put back on so her nerve isn't exposed. If I could give negative starts, I'd give them -100.

The…read moretemporary bridge placed for 2 weeks while the permanent was being made caused pain the entire time, which I told him. When I returned to remove it and place the new one I told him I was still in pain and essentially no response. He removed the temp wiped my mouth (without assessing if something else was wrong) and seated the permanent bridge; I've been in pain ever since. The next week I returned and he announced he wanted to do several root canals- to solve the pain problem, I was devastated. I had paid thousands of dollars for a bridge that has hurt to this day and he wanted to do more expensive and painful work. I've seen several endodontists who are unsure which tooth may need a root canal or if that would solve the problem. The prognosis for complete recovery and pain free status is not good and in fact could be this way the rest of my life I do not recommend this dentist or practice. They refused to refund the money for the bridge. Terrible work and customer service.

He attempted to recrown the tooth. He fractured the tooth severely during the recrown procedure $$. Because of this, Dr Quinttus caused the tooth and jaw to abscess. Dr Quinttus root canaled the tooth 4 months after the crown $$, and then pulled the tooth the very next day $$. Charging me money for each failed procedure. Dr Quinttus never took xrays during any of his procedures. I had to go through several rounds of antibiotics for the abscess, jaw surgery to remove the abscess by a surgeon, and bone grafting of the jaw by a surgeon. I also have permanent nerve damage in that area of my face. Dr Quinttus started to fill an early abscess fistula with an antibiotic to which I'm severely allergic. I had to remind and explain this allergy to him multiple times. He doesn't check your medical chart. Dr Quinttus never communicates his steps or plans of action. He performs the procedure and walks away. He has zero dental skills or communication skills, which is a very dangerous combination for a dentist. By the way, I am writing this review 9 months after Dr Quinttus extracted the abscessed tooth. Due to Dr Quinttus: I suffered jaw bone abscess, continue with severe jaw pain, continue to suffer with problems speaking, and continue to suffer from numbness of the teeth/gums/cheek/lip in that area. Due to Dr Quinttus: I had to miss several days of work. This whole episode was a nightmare. And I still suffer from his damage. Do not go to Rahn Dental! Dr Quinttus is very unskilled, very unprofessional, very dangerous, senile, and needs his license removed immediately. He and Rahn Dental are only out for money. I will continue to share this horrific story of Dr Quinttus with everyone I meet and know. Herbert Head III, Professor of Biological Sciences
