Although on the other side of town, Beccofino is much like its spin-off restaurant Julius. Both occupy prominent corners and offer a fairly refined, adult atmosphere (though you can bring kids if you've got money to burn). Both offer thin crust pizzas, whose highlight I think is the sauce, and both offer a round of expensive sides and desserts to fill you up. Both are likely to please most diners (unless you've got gluten or dairy issues, in which case Italian is never going to be your friend). I ordered a margherita, and frankly, I liked it at least as much as the slightly more expensive pizza with buffalo mozzarella at Julius. In the interest of getting some decent nutrition, I ordered a sauteed beans and greens side, and was fairly pleased to discover that it was heavy on the beans. I wish Italian places did more with beans; there are some great ones available. All told, I wish their menu had a little bit more on the vegetarian side, but what they do is executed well, and for an occasional splurge, it's a nice place. read more

It is a blessing and a curse that Beccofino is located directly across the road from where I live, as I have an ongoing love affair with anything Italian. The food, the wine, the way of life. It just makes sense to me that people should be able to eat and drink unashamedly. Beccofino is the best place to embrace this sort of Italianism! Whether you're after some delicious takeaway or a beautiful dine in meal, this restaurant is the place to come. The service is always impeccable, and the staff are always well versed in the food and the specials. Not once that I have been there have they ever read the specials off a piece of paper- they know exactly what's in all the food. The owner Paolo runs a tight ship, and it's not uncommon for him to rouse on his staff in front of customers, but it's all in the name of exceptional service. One thing that can be difficult with Beccofino is that they don't take bookings. I've had to wait for a table on a few occasions, but it's usually on a busy weekend and I've never waited longer than half and hour...plus, it's worth it! With the menu changing seasonally, and the specials changing nightly, there is always something new and delicious to sample. My personal favourite dishes are the affettati misti for primi (warmed marinated olives, grissini and a series of cured meats) and linguine all' astice (linguine with bug meat, chilli, cherry tomatoes, garlic and white wine sauce). Coupled with a bottle of the Speri La Roverina Valpolicella from Veneto, it makes for an unforgettable meal. When it comes to needing that home cooked-style Italian meal (and short of selecting Pavarotti on Spotify and cooking something myself), Beccofino is where I make a beeline for. I'd say make a reservation for but you can't, you just have to hope you arrive during a lull and can be seated pronto. And sure, you could venture into the pizza menu but I'm predictable at best and stick to a standard order of calamari to start and a main of their signature duck ragu. It really doesn't get any closer to soul food than this for me. It can make a dull day brighter and feel like a warm hug that says, "Chin up, poppet. It's all going to be okay." So next time someone in your group says, "I feel like Italian!" You've got just the place to show off your mad local knowledge. You're welcome! read more

My friends were claiming Beccofino has the best pizza in New Farm/Tenneriffe, so we had to see if they were right. We popped in for an early dinner on a Tuesday night before a show at the Powerhouse. Lucky we arrived just after 6pm, because by 6:45pm this place was heaving. People were waiting for tables to free up and it wasn't letting up by the time we left at 7:30pm. Beccofino has lovely atmosphere, Lounge music playing leisurely throughout the restaurant. Their wine list was mostly made up of Italian wines - YUM. 3 of us ordered Pizzas (Funghi Misti, Bresaola and Salsiccie) and one ordered the Linguine all' Astice after reading another Yelp review saying it was delicious. Probably because we had gotten our orders in before the rush, the kitchen was extremely fast and we had our meals no more than 10 minutes after ordering. The pizzas are really large, but that crust is just so delicious and thin, if you split one pizza between two people you would definitely need something else. Each table gets a basket of bread and olive oil to nibble on, and the olive oil is something out of this world. If you have not had good olive oil before, you must try it! We managed to squeeze in dessert as well and tried both the Semifreddo and the Pannacotta. The Semifreddo is described as "Homemade Nougat and Chocolate Icream" and I guess I thought that would mean Nougat, plus chocolate ice-cream. However it is vanilla ice-cream with nought and chocolate pieces through out - which is even better than what I thought it was. This was the highlight dessert, sadly there was only one piece left by 7pm. The Pannacotta was also delicious and a lighter option if you're not a fan of sweet ice-cream and chocolate. For 4 people eating mains and dessert, 3 drinking soft drink and 1 drinking wine, it came to $140. For a Tenneriffe restaurant, I think that's pretty reasonable. And I definitely think their pizza is up there, close to being the best pizza I've had in Brisbane! My friends also told me Beccofino does takeaway too! read more

Amazing food! One of my friends' favorite spot in Brisbane and I can see why. We came on Sunday night around 5:30 cause I had to catch a 8PM flight back to Sydney. It was good because we beat the rush and got a table easily. Apparently it gets pretty packed. They raved about the pizza so I had to get one. My friend and I split the white broccoli pizza, which had mozzarella, broccoli, cherry tomatoes, anchovies, chilli, garlic & montasio cheese (minus the anchovies) and split the pasta of the day which had kale, cauliflower and breadcrumbs. My friend's boyfriend got the Salsiccie Pizza, which was tomato, chilli, mozzarella, provolone, pork and fennel sausage & rocket. They change out the menu pretty regularly. The pizza was delicious! The cheese was yummy and it had the nice kick from the chili. The pasta was just as amazing, with these little cheesy bread crumbs that made the pasta taste even better. I swapped a slice of mine with my friend's bf and it was very tasty as well. The sausage was nice. Each pizza is about $22, and the pasta was about the same. In the end the bill came out to about $67 which wasn't too bad. We didn't have any wine as it was a Sunday and my friend had to drive, but I hear the wines are awesome. If I'm ever back in Brisbane, will definitely come back! read more

I wasn't in the mood for Italian last night, because most of us are conditioned to think "pizza & pasta". I'm grateful to my dinner companions for talking me into it, because it was a ridiculously delicious occasion, largely void of the Pavlov's dog response to "Italian". Yes, there are pasta dishes and pizzas on the menu (they even have their own menu sections), but there are plenty of other tasty treats, too. We drank a chianti (the wine list is half Australian and half Italian, excellent) and I was a bit fascinated by the waiter's casual cork removal as he took us through the specials. We had the one waiter for almost the entire evening and he was absolutely charming and very helpful. Free bread and olive oil started our evening, and as we were sharing entrées they were placed on metal cages that formed a two-level food server, with bread underneath and entrées on top. SO CLEVER, a great space-saver. I had seared scallops with a potato & leek soup, making sure I could leave room for the current semifreddo for dessert - housemade peanut brittle ice cream with salted caramel sauce. Read it and weep. The menu changes regularly, Beccofino don't take bookings so be prepared to wait (it seems to always be busy!), and please bring your appetite. The only leftovers you can take away are the pizzas. We sat down to eat at around 8pm and only when we left did we realise that most of the other tables and chairs had been packed up for closing time, but at no point did we feel like we were being hurried out. What a lovely restaurant. Professional staff that care about their guests. Recently we arrived at this restaurant and the service staff perfectly managed the table wait. Once seated the waitress was extraordinary and was able to recite the whole menu without reference to the printed version. My meal was exceptional - a chef special of seafood linguini. I would happily shout from the rooftops that Beccofino is the best Italian restaurant in Brisbane. Nowhere this side of Italy have I had such gorgeous pizza, fresh al dente pasta, and wonderful service. Even when I haven't been to Beccofino for a while, one of the many lovely Italian men who work there will welcome me like an old friend and remember my drink order. That's pretty insane considering I only go every few months (not for lack of wanting!). The service here really is impeccable. And so is the food. Oh god, the food. When you arrive they'll bring you some slices of genuine ciabatta with a good olive oil so you can nibble while you peruse the menu. They have delicious, fresh vegetable based sides like roasted sliced potatoes, green beans, and a rocket salad. Beccofino's frequently changing menu always features wonderful pastas that go with the season, delicious entrees (although I'm still mourning the loss of my melanzane parmigiana I'm sure it'll be back), and of course their pizzas. There is usually a pizza special, but the basic pizza menu doesn't change. It doesn't have to. Tradition is the basis of Beccofino's pizzas. These discs of thin dough are crispy at the edges and chewy towards the centre and topped with just the right amount of cheese, passata sauce, and whatever else you've ordered. They're huge but so light and moreish that one between two could get awkward. Obviously, you have to have the tiramisu for dessert, but more importantly don't forget to start you meal with a Campari! read more

The best pizza and pasta in Brissy - except for their second venue at Julius. The service can be a bit uppity at times depending who you get, and how good looking of a female you are! But service is generally good with amazing food. The pizza bases are the cloest you will find to a Napoli style pizza base although Julius is a bit better for this. They have a great selection of wines including Italian wines that aren't easy to find elsewhere. You will love the food! My tips are the Duck Pappardelle, Tartufo pizza or the Calamari Fritti. Food is ok. Pizza is nothing special compared to places like Ladro in Melbourne so nothing really to justify the attitude from the staff. I guess their whole deal is "keep it casual and edgy.. like in Italy". Well being asked "what d'ya want?" by a waiter kind of throws you off balance. I don't give 5 stars to many places, especially Italian. It is really hard to find a great Italian restaurant with a truly AUTHENTIC Italian food in Brisbane, but Beccofino is certainly one of them! I am visiting this place every time I want to have a great italian dish and I have never left disappointed. The food is delicious!
