I didn't even recover my expenses to be in litigation for 3 years. Winning this case- regarding the profound health impacts of toxic mold exposure- in a public forum was important not only for me and my children but for the countless people who are sick because they live in water-damaged buildings that are not properly repaired by those responsible for making the repairs. A win would have validated my knowledge- confirmed by medical reports backed by peer-reviewed research- that my children have a genetic disorder of the innate immune system that makes exposure to certain toxins extremely consequential. So if my son did not appear there would be a warrant out for his arrest. So we frantically prepared for court in less than 24 hours, still unable to get a hold of this quack, so-called, lawyer. Luckily this was my sons first offense and he was basically let off with a warning with some community service but if it was for our due diligence this situation could have affected our 18 year old son for the rest of his life.
