I can't say enough good things about this place and the swim instructors. My daughter had no idea…read morehow to swim, but after taking 2 weeks of lessons last year and 2 weeks of lessons this year, she's doing amazing! Usually each session consists of 4 students and 4 instructors. I love how each student gets their own instructor! The pool is plenty big for the 4 separate swim lessons to take place. They have shaded areas for the parents to sit and watch their students. They also have a bathroom incase the student needs to go during the lesson. Lessons are 20 minutes a day for 5 days. It's best to book 2 weeks of lessons, but spread them out. You also need to be quick about registering because lessons sell out fast! I suggest following them on Facebook and signing up for emails through their website. If you don't get lessons, sometimes people sell theirs on the Hunsaker Swimming Facebook page. I'll definitely be signing my daughter up again next year!

After just two sessions, he was more than comfortable: he truly enjoyed swimming. It was a great swimming and learning environment, very clean and beautiful pool, and knowledgeable and patient teachers who are willing to take the time to learn about the students and adjust the teaching to their needs. I can't wait to enroll both of my boys in lessons for next year!

We've been attending Big Blue Swim School for almost two months, and it's been a good experience…read more Our kids (infant and toddler) really enjoy their lessons and also seem to be learning a lot. The facility is also fantastic--very clean and playful looking; perfect for kids. I'm still a little unsure of how I feel about the business model. You have to pay for the months' lessons up front, and if for some reason you can't make it, you don't get refunded for any lessons you cancel. The money also doesn't go towards the next month's balance; you simply have to do makeup lessons or lose those funds. For a family like ours that struggled to find a consistent lesson time at all, scheduling makeup lessons has proved tricky, but we do have to miss a lesson once in a while. Not sure what the solution is here. I also came by the facility during business hours to sign my kids up, but the doors were shut and locked, even though they were open? Luckily the staff saw me and opened up the doors to let me in, but had they not, we probably wouldn't have signed up. We wanted to visually look at the facility before committing, so a phone call didn't work for us. Hopefully this feedback proves helpful. We're eagerly looking forward to our next swim lesson!

Awful experience for our very new beginner and very shy swimmer. We did the trial lesson and it…read morewent fine. Decided to sign up, and the next lesson was a disaster. We had a different teacher this time because it was different time. This teacher was incompetent and not experienced teaching children starting from knowing nothing, and not being comfortable with swimming. I walked in with my son and took him to his lesson and told the teacher it was only his second leson, he is very beginner, and also super quiet, meaning he probably wouldn't talk to her. I proceeded to go to the parent area after leaving my son with her. Five minutes after saying this, she proceeds to put his face underwater without his consent. My son is not ready for this. He can barely blow bubbles. Last lesson the teacher did not do this. She understood his silence meant he wasn't ready. This should have been in his record that he cannot hold his breath under water, what his last lesson was like, where he is at, etc. At this point my son is screaming crying, since he cannot hold his breath, he breathed in water when he went under by someone he was forced to trust to teach him the survival skill that is swimming. I rush in there to find out what happened. I asked if she got his consent for going under. She said he did not say anything, he did not nod his head yes or no. Meaning he gave no consent since he is extremely shy. She thought him not saying anything was consent! She thought that it would be okay to dunk his head after getting no response and seeing how timid he was! SILENCE IS NOT CONSENT! Total lack of awareness. Obviously he was not ready to go under water. The deck supervisor was there and she was very condescending saying the top of his head wasn't wet. Like that excuses the fact he is coughing up water sobbing! The very top of his head wasn't wet, but he went underwater without knowing how to hold his breath, causing him to breathe in water, and choke. And she tried to excuse that and invalidate what my son is going through. I immediately took him out of there and spoke with a manager. The deck supervisor proceeded to follow me and again argue and make excuses while I spoke with the manager. I had to tell her stop arguing with me- her attitude was completely uncalled for and unprofessional. I demanded I refund for what I had paid and told them to cancel the membership for I would never return. My son is still crying while all this is happening, he cannot calm down until we leave the building. The manager handled it well and refunded our money, and said it shouldn't have happened. I am astounded there is no communication on where a child is at in thier skill level? And no consistency between the first and second class? Why is this teacher using her hands to put my son underwater when he is not ready, while the teacher last week went slow and never did that, only poured a little water on his head with a toy to get him used to the idea? Awful awful experience overall and I'm so sad my son had to go through that. I feel immense guilt I left him with someone who made him feel unsafe and in danger. He has this negative experience on his swim lesson journey so this has set us back on his progress and willingness to continue else where with swim lesssons. Other parents with brand new swimmers need to be aware of the inconsistencies and lack of communication, as well as instructors with very little experience working with children who are nervous and shy, and starting brand new. Also, this instructor was not the one we signed up with too- it was a different name when I signed up. So be prepared for inconsistency in instructors as well.

Swim Kids Layton is doing a complete highway robbery for its loyal customers! We have been a…read moreswimkids customer for 2 years now, then they went blindsided us completely. They are charging $39 for a 15 min lesson. Thats almost $160 per hr! Wow! They even copied my military ID (that's supposed to be 20%) and I am still being charged the full $39 per 15 min swimming lesson. Called their office directly and asked if I can talk to the manager directly and they said they are on a retreat. I guess the managers are having a nice ol' retreat using our money to enjoy themselves! This is still on-going and it happened back in August. As of posting this, still no refunds, phone call, or even text back from any managers. If you need an easy stealing high money from customers and individuals, I guess apply for swimkids layton instructor! You are getting paid $160 per hr or maybe their managers whose enjoying their retreat that's stealing most of it!

Complaints: - it's incredibly hard to schedule make up credits - they constantly change teachers on your which is hard for young kids - things get cancelled constantly which is hard for consistency - price is outrageous for not being organized My son barely learned anything here and I spent hundreds of dollars. When I moved him to a new swim school he was quickly back floating by himself, rolling over in both directions, able to swim to the bottom to pick up toys. Age of reference: he was 3 for the lessons.
