I went in and tried to withdraw it but was told I needed a death certificate. Ok fair enough. Got the copy of the death certificate and tried to call ahead to make an appt. Literally called 8 times throughout the day and nobody answered the phone. Decided to just try my luck and went in to see if I could talk to somebody. The manager advises all her bankers were unavailable and would need to schedule an appt later that week. I show up to the appt, and send them the death certificate. Turns out the format needed to be in pdf form, that was never disclosed to me. So I had to convert it to a pdf on the spot (thankful for tech that allows us to do such things). Go through all of this only to be told that apparently I need to get a court order to be appointed as a successor to the account. WTF?! Why did nobody tell me any of this the first two times I went in? Also why does nobody answer the phone? Thankfully another employee stepped in and advised they would try to find a solution that did not include me going to court just to try and get what is lawfully mine. They told they would get back to me and never did. Just failure after failure. Utterly unacceptable experience. I don't reccomend BOFA to anybody at this point .

Opened account, 5 minutes online. Completed loan app, received response next day. They were only willing to offer $75k. Contacted loan officer to provide additional finance information. Basically was told they don't offer loans in that amount. This is typical of a CU. They make things more difficult than needed and change the rules mid-stream. I've had sim experience with BECU. Additionally, the account that took 5 min to open took 40 min, 3 representatives, and multiple holds, to close, and 10 days to receive your money back via snail mail. I gave 1 star for their dishonest misrepresentation via AI and difficult closing process obviously designed to get you to hang up. Pretty dirty banking policy this day and age.

When I think of a customer service manager, I think of someone who is kind to customers and has far above average customer service skills. While talking to Whitney on a short phone call, she interrupted me at every possible opportunity. She kept trying to talk over me. She was very inflexible and non understanding of a very difficult situation. When I finally go tired of being talked over and interrupted, I did raise my voice and I did utter a swear word out of pure frustration and she took that opportunity to end the conversation rather than trying to reconcile the situation. It felt to me like she was trying to escalate the situation so that I would be angry and she would have an excuse to not deal with me anymore. I would recommend to her boss that she be replaced by someone who better represents the company in a kind and compassionate way. On the other hand, Shane at the Arlington branch was very nice every time I spoke to him, and I think he is doing a great job.
