I can't say enough about Becu at 183 Aurora Shoreline. I went in today, having to ask for another debit card replacement. This has gotten to be a habit. of misplacing, losing or (one time) stolen debit cards. I'm always actually uplifted every single time I leave this place (BECU). In customer service relations my entire life, I'm big on customer service. I always ask if they have been trained in customer relations, and I always get "No" Clearly, people like or even love their job there, and are respected by management. One time while I was waiting for a free professional, the concierge was young lady who laid out a bunch of investment plans for me while I waited to be seen. I'm laughing because I have no money most of the time. I felt like I was loaded, trying to place all my money somewhere so I can make more. She knew this and said yeah, we can just start with 5 dollars here or there and get you rolling. She was very consistent, but not in a way of arrogance, where I was getting pushed and pulled in all directions in a full court press to get something from me, as if someone was looking for a commission. Not even close Like everyone there, she was perfect. Done with care, true care where she didn't let go, but I felt free to say anything (professional). and I actually got interested as I was getting educated. I know what excellent customer service is, and in today's businesses, customer relations appear to be a lost art. AN after thought, maybe 3rd most important The air on the back of my neck stands up, when I'm not treated in a well, or even if some else is not being treated respectfully. Countless times I was reminded They are the onesith that sign your paychecks. I don't complain anymore, I just make sure that I compliment the person that has been professional with High standards. Many times, I'll track down a supervisor and rain on about how excellent a waiter is, or a cashier, that always has the best attitude with us whining about prices or whatever Hence, why I'm writing this tonight, as the young man with longer blond hair, was so kind with me. Smiles. putting me at ease, making sure that I was comfortable. Later that evening, had to go back and get my cane that I forgot. The Kid cleaning the glass and the ATM's, said, "Oh yeah, wait right here" He walked in the back, and was eager to get this back to me before they closed. Another smile, "Here you go sir" All of this stuff can seem really small? I feel it a little writing this. But it is not, it is HUGE! The greatest businesses treat their customers in the same way. I just like it, because I'm uplifted from this because I, and most people in this small spinning rock of a world we live in, could use a lot more of these types of exchanges. Note: this site has ATMs as well as financial services staffed with personnel. Posted at BECU ATM, somehow site morphed as BECU credit union. Regardless, located approximately at 183rd & Aurora in Shoreline. Anyways, I received a letter in the mail yesterday and wanted to get it checked out for authenticity with an actual BECU staff member. With all fraudulent schemes going on, one has to be extra cautious. However, I was wary about what kind of service I would receive after reading most of the posted Yelp reviews which were all across the board. I ran two errands prior and arrived at the BECU Financial Center - Shoreline at 0917. Checked in (had no prior appointment), barely sat down in the reception area, and was greeted by Esmeralda V to assist me. I explained my specific concerns and after proving my identity with my driver's license and answering her questions, she got down to business. The information provided was timely, clear, and thorough. I signed/dated appropriate documents to get this situation taken care of which was greatly appreciated. I'm glad I didn't just dismiss and shredded this letter or get frustrated stuck on hold phoning in. By showing up onsite gave me the information and peace of mind needed. Esmeralda V, Member Consultant II was very professional and provided excellent customer service. I also thanked the gentleman who was handling reception at the front of the office. I was done by 0935 - under 20 minutes! I'm not a BECU member, but greatly appreciated their customer service and getting my concerns addressed. Thank you! read more

Avoid this location! Second time have made an appointment to speak with a person in this location, and second time got nothing completed because they say, "it's the computers, they are not working". This second time, nothing accomplished because of, "the computers", so the person (same person first and second time) tells me I'll have to come back AGAIN to try to get my banking task done! This person says this as if my time is not valuable and disrespectful of my efforts to be here and on time. Try no way! I took time off from work and got a sitter to make these two waste-of-time appointments! Never mind the awful traffic around this location, and the delay in getting a money transfer! If they can't afford good computers, IT staff, or good computer security, you wonder how well they protect online banking! read more

I stopped at this BECU today to deposit a couple checks. Upon entering the front doors I was greeted by a worker asking if I was using the ATM or drop box. I was using the drop box. We keep a stack of deposit slips and envelopes at the house so we can fill everything out in advance and just drop it off. In and out real quick. The drop box was working fine and everything went well on my visit today. The worker was friendly and courteous in her interactions. I am guessing the worker is there to guide people in social distancing. There was one other patron in the ATM/drop box space when I arrived and they were using the ATM instead of the drop box while I was there so social distancing was not a problem. I have come to this location for deposits a number of times over the years and have not run into problems. In part that might be because we try to stay as prepared as we can. By filling out our deposit slips/envelopes in advance it reduces potential problems if there are no slips and/or no envelopes at the drop box. You can also ask the workers for more if there are none by the drop box/ATM. read more

I wanted to let management know that my wife and I came in to speak with one of your consultants regarding a loan my wife was interested in getting advice on. We sat down with Shamika Cardozo-Acuna and shared why we were there. She asked for my wife's ID and opened her account.  My wife speaks broken English being Vietnamese and has always had a hard time sometimes explaining what she wants, which is why I was there, including verifying she would get the best interest rate when exploring various loan options. When my wife struggled to say "consolidate" her credit card debt, I repeated the word she was trying to say to Shamika, which outlined while we were there and your consultant looked at me and firmly said; I am not here to speak with you, I am only here to speak with members.  I leaned back in my chair and said what? with a look of being totally disgusted  & shocked; someone was talking to me as if I was trash. I explained I was there to help Kathy if she doesn't understand what is being said, and Shamika asked, did you not understand what I just said?  It took everything I have inside me not to stand up and make sure everyone in BECU hear me ask Shamika, who the fu#@ do you think you are Bit#@?  Instead, I left the facility. I can't begin to share what a horrible person Shamika is. All of the nastiest words in our English dictionary would not come close to describing this evil person. Clearly, she needs professional or mental health professional treatment unless BECU supports this type of horrible personality trait.    We hear daily on the news how some people react toward such evilness, which is why 1,000% I am reaching out to you.  I hope those higher-ups at BECU demand that she receives treatment immediately. read more

Been with this bank for awhile, I had called in explaining my circumstances, I was going through things and required deferment, I was granted the deferment which gave me a chance to completely pay off the 20k balance. I want to remind who is reading this I took the proper steps and did nothing wrong, out of the blue they suddenly and out of no where, not even notifying me they shut down my credit card. The credit card has my credit history and only credit history, that's damaging for credit report. So if I were u avoid em! And all the explanation I got is it's policy, I am sorry! If I would have known I would screwed them back and not even pay. I am trying to do the right thing and they basically said eff u! Never ever again! I needed to open an account in Seattle and BECU was highly recommended. I went to the Shoreline location and was helped by Richard Kwon. He was so nice and incredibly helpful. He explained all the features I was interested in gave me the Seahawks debit card I wanted!! I also received a thank you card from him, in the mail, 5 days after our working together. Went there for walk in. The lady asked me if I have any express service which she can help otherwise you will be seated in the first come first serve manner. Self checked in and waited more than 40minutes to get services. Highly recommended that make an appointment becuase this location is busy. They only had 1 consultant in the morning. read more

I have been a BECU customer for nearly 8 years, but its becoming clearer to me that I will need to find a new bank. At first they were great! I got an awesome deal on a car loan, and had no issues with my checking or business accounts. However, i tried to close a rewards account with them, because I wasn't using the rewards program enough to warrant the fee. They told me that they closed it. Several months later, they charged me the rewards account fee anyway, and when I called to explain I had already closed that account and could they please reverse it, they were no help at all. That was my first negative experience. I was really bummed but I stuck with them for checking and savings, and just completely closed that credit card. My second negative experience was tonight. A concern came up that looked very suspiciously like someone was trying to hack into my account. I tried to change my online password twice, but had to Google it because BECU doesn't make it intuitive to figure out. After figuring out I need to click on "I forgot my password" to reset my password (not intuitive!) and trying to change it, I kept getting messages, stating "we're sorry we can't help you with your online account right now, please call back during normal business hours." Which would be fine if it was not urgent, but it's an urgent fraud concern on the weekend. So I tried to call their after hours customer service. The first number I called, for checking and debit accounts, I was on hold for 15 minutes, and then the system suddenly hung up on me. I never talked to a real person. But I am persistent so I called their credit card after hours number. I finally got a real person, but they said they couldn't help me and transferred me to someone else without even telling me they were about to transfer me. That 2nd person was nicer and more friendly, but she said she couldn't help me and would need a supervisor. So I waited on hold longer to talk to the supervisor. Finally someone answered, and said that she couldn't help me because this phone number was just for credit cards, not any other accounts. She said I would need to wait until Monday to reset my password or talk to someone about my concern. So hopefully my accounts will be ok until then, but even if they weren't, it appears that BECU can do nothing until banking hours. This is unacceptable. The supervisor was not very apologetic or empathetic and I was not impressed with her customer service. This whole process took me about an hour and at the end of the day I didn't get anywhere. I will also say that I miss the days when I could go up to a bank teller and talk to a real person, instead of just using an ATM machine, or waiting in a long line that feels like the DOL! read more

My review is just based on me helping myself by using the ATM. ;) No interactions with the employees here the one time I've stopped by. The area is busy but it wasn't hard getting parking. Something I don't like about BECU's ATMs is they lock the doors down so you can't get cash outside of their business hours. read more

A simply awful experience having my Campbell-VW auto loan serviced by BECU. I am so annoyed that I am paying off the loan much faster than I had planned to, just to get BECU out of my life. I will also be meeting with Campbell-VW to discuss my poor experience with BECU. Aren't you supposed to feel "safe" at a "non-profit" credit union? I have never before been so aggressively nickel and dimed and given runaround after runaround by any entity. Thought it was odd that I was charged late fees for paying all but $.18 of a $20,000 loan off in three months, but no, not at BECU. I tried visiting in person to fix this and pay off the balance of the loan and close the account and was told I could only do that in Tukwila or Everett...seriously. read more

Oh BECU, I'm so disappointed... I only heard amazing things from you four years ago, then I made an account and have loved you ever since.. Every banker I've had the chance to talk to has been delightful and full of smiles. Even the guy banker from your store (I don't know if its the famous Timothy from the other review - but he has glasses and spiked hair) was awesome and spunky! But tonight.. After praising your service and banking prowess to my friend, he decided to open an account. Three accounts infact. When we arrived around 5:15, we sat for about ten minutes waiting for a banker. No problems. (Cue story-telling time:) Then Olivia arrived. She had been blowing through customers since we got there, helping the man with a crutch first. Understandable. He was in and out within the ten minutes we waited. She went back up to the podium where you sign in and called my friends name without even turning around. No smiles either.. So.. A bit odd.. It was pretty clear after a few minutes that she wasn't planning on smiling, ever. But it also became apparent that she was going to be a bit snappy and rude. My friend is pretty annoying, and asks a bunch of dumb questions, which, although not difficult, are plentiful. Ex: pointing out the APY as the interest rate and switching them around. Stupid, yes, warrant for rudeness, no. She would frequently purse her lips and ignore his questions, apparently she's allergic to eye contact and happy faces. Trying to break the ice of Olivia the snow queen, I made a little joke about my friend trying to put a penny into a money market account. Nothing, not even a smirk. At this point I have up trying to encourage a smile across the ice queens face, and began distancing myself from the conversation. I wasn't too keen on listening into her interrupting my friend and giving snappy, rude answers. No, she did not say anything rude, of course not. But the feeling of unwelcome ness was extremely apparent. I had never felt this way dealing with a banker before, and definitely do not want to have her handle my questions next time I stop in. It's a convenient location for me if I need a one on one assistance with my banking concerns. Staff is very efficient and know what they're talking about. They offer more info than I could use sometimes but I think that's all part of the services they provide which, I really appreciate as well as having 3 atm machines ready to use for other transactions I wish to do. There is plenty of FREE parking in a small shopping mall location and still close to where I live. read more

These folks are always helpful and nice. It is not a "full service" location like the ones in Everett and Renton, but they do what they are able to very well. The ATMs do everything you need anyway... BECU is awesome. For example, the currency exchange fee on your debit card is super low, so no need to worry about using your BECU card on trips to Canada :) read more

WOW! I was so impressed with my experience at the Shoreline BECU location I made a yelp account for it. I had been a customer at a dreaded big bank for years and years and years and though they never did anything *bad* to me, they never really made me feel *good*. They were just... my bank. So, at the urging of most of my friends and family, I stopped in to just see what it was like and go from there. I walked in and the ATM line was crazy long, but the lobby was empty. Almost instantly, Caitlin stood up from her desk with a HUGE smile on her face. She was so friendly and professional and seemed to really care about the stuff they offer. And let me tell ya they offer EVERYTHING and MORE. I kept waiting for the catch but it never came. Caitlin was so great, she kept asking me questions and checking in to make sure I was getting everything. She even did the math on my auto loan to find my rate to see if refinancing it to BECU would save me money. No surprise - it did! Clearly, the BECU koolaid is made with sunshine and happiness and the employees drink it by the bucketloads. It must be pumped through the air vents too or something, because I left with new accounts for myself, a new credit card, a refinanced auto loan and a new faith in the banking industry! Seriously BECU - thank you for existing A BIG THANK YOU for hiring Caitlin! She made what is probably a very normal process for her a very special one for me! When I returned with my husband for us to sign paperwork, again she displayed the same professionalism, explaining and answering any questions for us. Got another good one... just keeps getting worse. They lost 3 of my checks... again... Michael G promised me they would be credited and them he would email me copies of the checks and transactions within 2 days- guess how long ago that was now. Im currently on hold with the 1800 number because you cannot call the branch directly. Ive been on hold for 15 minutes. And I won't even think about walking into the branch anymore cause I can guarantee a wait longer then what I have to put up with now. This is the week I am switching. I would give even more stars if you let me. Kai in the Shoreline BECU helped me save thousands of dollars on my new car. She suggested a program to help me clean up my bankruptcy after Chase closed some of my paid off lines of credit with WAMU because they were at 0% balance. Not only am I getting the car of my dreams but she helped me by suggesting a program supported by BECU whereby I pay only 3% interest and I own the car outright. ahhh....no more banks for me!!! read more

I don't write reviews, but I'm so very happy with this CU (was with B of A for 28 years)...specifically the caring employees at this branch. Tina (Corazon Valentina, a name she dislikes, but it fits her perfectly, soulful and loving) kindly notarized a letter for me today. I was in and out like a flash because her co-worker took that FAR extra step of printing off what i needed, he was insightful and knowledgeable in a document that has nothing to do with his job - but he printed it off for me. They are two that are going far beyond their requirements...making me glad I switched and that this branch is close to my work. This location - 185th and Aurora in Shoreline is the best I've encountered besides the UW location, on the Ave. Good people who are invested in their work and take care of those of us who need it. She immediately greeted me when I got there, and was very thorough at answering all of my questions. I was in a hurry, and she was super efficient at getting me in and out quickly. Today I received a call from Regional Manager Kimberly at 206-214-1582 because Shoreline Branch Manager Erin has not returned my calls in 3 days of emails and voice mails. Regional Manager Kimberly stated that she will not discuss the outcomes of the complaints for harassment from Shoreline Branch Employee Timothy because she has received conflicting information from Timothy about my harassment complaint and no longer addressed me in the empathetic concerning matter as she did before when I complained. The first time I spoke with Kimberly she gave me 44 minutes of documented conversation and was very kind. However after speaking with her employee I complained about, she called me and was short with me, she interrupted me 17 times in a recorded conversation repeating herself about things we had already resolve and she seems slightly frustrated. She also told me that she was not happy that I gave BECU a bad review and if I do not change my post on Yelp, that she would consider it Slanderous and report it to the security department of BECU. I tried to explain to Kimberly that slanderous statements are defined as the action or crime of making a false spoken statement damaging to a person's reputation and that I had no intention of doing that. I stated to Kimberly that my review was my 100% true opinion of my experiences from that particular employee at that branch location and that it is my constitutional right to express those opinions. I asked Kimberly to please take the time to go over the review I wrote so that I could address any particular concern about my review but she kept interrupting me and and stating that it was fine if I refuse to change the review. I continued to state that I was not refusing but that I was trying to resolve her accusations of slander but she continued to try to end the call by changing the subject to other concerns I have had that we have already resolved. I have to say I am shocked that customer service does not mean as much to people as it used to, or as much as it should mean to good people like myself and other good members of BECU. Kimberly was so nice when I made these complaints and made me feel like she really cares about the ongoing harassment issues with just one employee, however I no longer feel that same concern from Kimberly after she stated that she got conflicting information from the person I complained about and after she saw my negative 1 star review of that particular location. I know that bad reviews are not fun, but people and members have a right to know and understand what is going on at that Shoreline location with this employee Timothy because I have personally witnessed a lot of other members having verbal conflict with Timothy to the point I have seen members yelling at him, including myself. With all that said, I am concerned because my family and I have loved BECU longer than any of these employees have even worked here and my only concern with BECU is one employee named Timothy. BECU in itself has always been a pretty good credit union by comparison to other banking and credit unions. So Kimberly, when you read this one, know my concerns are with the one employee as mentions several times, not BECU as a whole. I think most people know that BECU is a great place, I just don't want to see one person keep messing it up for everyone else. read more

They lost my application lost my paystub then didnt call me back for a week probably because their lack of organization is embarrassing and they didnt want to admit to their mistakes. Most likely will close my account because of this location. Other credit unions don't seem to have this much trouble losing paperwork and completing simple tasks read more

I love BECU. But every time I come to this location, there's a huge line to use one of the only 2 ATMs. Currently there are 10 people in line. There's a wall opposite that could house 2 more atms, but it's being wasted on signage. There's also a large waiting area with big screen tv. Why do we need that more than atms?!? read more

Rudest, most uneducated staff of ALL becu locations. If you're local to this location, just take the time to go up to Lynnwood or down to North Seattle branches. All of the girl staff just gossips and allows wait times to get past an hour on the regular. The "leader" of the bankers and the high school mean girls cliques, Oliva D. is the nastiest one there. She will just mean mug everyone and pretty much act like you're a complete idiot for needing help from a banker. I don't know how she hasn't been fired yet but the manager is a complete airhead so that probably contributes to it. As for the rest of the banker staff, they don't even know the difference between APR & APY or what a IRA account is... If you come to this location be prepared to wait over an hour while the bankers at empty desks just completely ignore your existence and then get told they don't even know how to help you... all while the girl at the front desk just apologizes over and over for their behavior. I cannot even begin the imagine to pay difference between these lazy bankers and the poor girl at the front who is the only one actually trying. Unbelievable. read more
