I vividly remember the first time I walked into Bed Bath and Beyond! I saw success written all over the place and left, going straight to buy shares! A lot of water under the bridge since then. Ups and downs galore but, I still was a loyal customer using the weekly 20 percent off coupon. Then boom! Upheaval including change in CEO, the pandemic, Pulling the coupon!! What? pulling the coupon that drives sales you say? Yes, they did and it almost sank the boat. It was reinstalled for a while but I just quit shopping at Bed Bath and Beyond. Now, walking into this store, I can definitely see that the level of merchandise that is being stocked is on average of lesser quality than in years past. We went in to register for our wedding, and Courtney was the one to assist us. She explained everything to a T. She was able to show us how to navigate in the website with the registry and once we left the store. When we had a problem she was right there to assisted and resolve the issue. She showed us to sings of the things that we were looking for in particular to put on our registry. While at the store we saw a couple on things that we just purchased right then. They have beds, they have baths, and I don't know what beyond means but rest assured, they have beyond too. This big ol' store is a hodgepodge of stuff. When you walk in you'll find a small World Market food section just kind of hanging out. That's trouble for me because it means endless Haribo gummi combinations among other world snacks. Yum. Then you can sort of get sucked into just about every other section, and it ranges on the pricier side. I saw a kitchen trash can for $200 my last time in. Who has $200 for a small trash can?! The bedding here is legit, though. I made a mistake of purchasing an IKEA pillow a year or so back and the thing feels like it's full of sawdust. The ones we got here for about $50 have memory foam and are customized for sleeping on your side, or also sleeping on your side. It makes a huge difference in sleep quality. Not the kind of place I want to spend all my Saturdays but it definitely gets the job done when you need this kind of thing, especially in the wonderful world of bedding. read more

Bed Bath & Beyond is an ode to big box stores that are all identical anywhere in the country. I'm a firm believer in mom & pop shops and frequent them whenever i can, but they are a dying breed... and really can't compete with a store like this. Especially their return policy. I recently bought one of those popular nutri-bullets and was disappointed after a months worth of attempts. Not my thing. The texture was never right for me. The lady who helped me with the return was awesome. I'm not one who comes through very often, and usually when I do it's because someone registered for their wedding here. I'm always fascinated as I look at the flatware and try to differentiate between tine designs on the forks. 40 different designs? I'm just not refined enough to appreciate it, I guess. And why do you always successfully tempt me with Toblerone on my way out. Oh, chocolate weakness. Tip: You can use as many 20% off coupons as you want. I prefer this location to the one on 119th for many reasons. Not only does this location have a better selection of products, they also have more products out on the shelf so you can see them out of the box. Their wedding registry was very easy to use and they made the process very seamless for us when we got registered. I loved being able to see all of the options for dishes, servingware, China and much more that I could pick from. It was the only place that we register due to the large variety of home based items. They had everything that we needed and we continue to go back there for things that we need for our house. This is the best bed bath in the area. It is the largest store with the best selection. For instance, I was in search of a butter crock. I was in Olathe and went to look in that bed bath and the associate who tried to help find it didn't even know what that was. Long story short, they didn't have one. But the next time I was in the OP store I found it no problem. It literally made my day! Aside from having the best selection of items they also have a free gift wrap station which is awesome. They also have a large registry area that has practically everything you could want. I have always encountered great service when shopping there. read more

This location looks like it was remodeled recently. Very open layout which I like! They have everything you could need of for the home! However don't go during your lunch break, been twice during noon and it's packed! They have workers on almost every register but they still can't keep up. Some stuff you need, lots more you don't. BB&B isn't bad for the generic household needs you may have- curtain rods, hangers, shower curtain liners, you know, utility stuff. The 20% coupons that come in the mail all the time are worth it to chose BB&B over Target every once in a while, and they have a larger selection on things like bathroom scales than many other corporate stores. On the other hand, if you are thinking about shopping for home products that involve design and/or decoration, e.g. bed spreads, decorative pillows, etc., don't go here. Seriously, the selection of duvet covers is pretty poor, and the curtain offerings are suburban bland at best, outright hideous at worst. It's a design school dropout showcase. The range of small kitchen appliances is decent, but specialty items are better found at Pryde's in Westport. They have lots of trendy gadgets marketed as gifts. Trust me, your sister-in-law doesn't want a shaved ice machine or a massage chair this holiday season. They do have a friendly staff and returns at this location are really easy. With so many better choices, there's no reason to seek this place out. read more

This is another of my "Go-To Stores." I can walk the isles for hours at this place. Seems like the cooking supplies, bedding options, and the health and beauty aids are my thing. When I need something I usually like to search for it myself, but today I was blind and couldn't find the tops to put into an bottle of oil so it would pour easily. Kind of like those liquor bottles with pour spouts. So I asked a sales agent who was readily available and she told me exactly where they were. That is the kind of routine service I receive at this store. I've shopped here for years and will continue to shop here. I also like the fact that the coupons never really expire. Today I used ones which said they were not good after July 2013, but they applied it and i got 20% off. YEAH!!! read more

Can I start off by saying how AMAZING this BBB is?!? I came in to just get an $8 box of popcorn for my whirley pop that I can only get there and ended up coming out with $100+ of items. I didn't know any BBBs had beauty/health sections. When I went ahead and check it out, I was NOT disappointed. It was the most extensive beauty/health sections I had ever seen!! I have really curl hair and I have to go to three different stores to get the products needed that I use and one of the shampoos I use, I have been unable to find in stores any more. WELL, this location has EVERY SINGLE curly hair product I use, including the shampoo I have searched and searched for!!!! This location is the best because it has high end dish sets and silverware and cooking equipment the other locations do not stock. I have only one thing to note about this BB&B. They have a FREE gift wrapping station! I don't know if all BB&Bs have these but I had never seen one before. Holy cow, what an wonderful idea. I, unlike my mother, am AWFUL at making sure I have wrapping paper, bows, tape, etc. in the house when I'm trying to get a gift together. As a result I often resort to running last minute in a Walgreens to get a crappy bag. As we all know tearing pretty wrapping paper is 300x more fun than lifting flimsy, sad tissue paper out of an equally flimsy and sad gift bag. So yeah, I'm picking this place over Target, Wal-Mart or whatever to get home goods for future any future gifts. read more

I like BB&B. They have just about everything you could want for your home. I never shop there without a 20% off coupon, though. Maybe they could just reduce everything 20% and save some trees. Just sayin'. Anyway, I just sent a daughter to college for the first time, so I spent a ton of money at this store. It was nice because they delivered it all to the Manhattan, KS store and we picked it up there when we moved her in. Around July, they send out a coupons that are 20% off your entire order. I've been furnishing a new apartment and, among other things, needed cookware. BB&B has a huge selection of cookware, pots and pans, bakeware, and kitchen gadgets galore, especially the Oxo brand ergonomic ones, at very competitive prices. This location is in Overland Park's huge shopping complex at 119th and Metcalf. Anything you can't find at BB&B you can probably find at SuperTarget just west on Metcalf. If you can't find what you're looking for at these stores, there's another big BB&B a few miles further west on the south side of 119th at Blackbob in Olathe. That store has a huge SuperTarget just a few doors down, and a Marshall's Home Goods store just on the east side of Blackbob, so you're bound to come away with something from your trip out there! One thing I've got my eye on is BB&B's memory foam mattress toppers. For about $129 you can get a two-inch thick mattress topper, which is actually about as much memory foam as you'll get on one of the much-more-expensive Tempurpedic mattresses! This just fits right on top of your existing mattress, for much less money! I haven't decided for sure, but I'm very tempted. . . All in all a great place, especially if you're furnishing a new place or re-doing an old one! read more

Bed Bath Beyond on Metcalf is the best! I travel from California to Kansas City twice a year. I always stop in. They have the best selection, layout, and great customer service. I bought coaster holder, then wanted more. California stores didn't have & were clueless. Called Overland Park store. Tracy, Vickie, & Meredith were all about customer satisfaction. Jim the store manager needs a lesson in running a business. We were returning an item that we bought before COVID. Never used. Still new. He said that is past our return policy of 60 days. Online it states 90. And if you take out the days the store was shut down we were very close to our return window. However, Jim didn't weigh the decision he made. He just lost the entire lifetime value of one customer by this decision. It's too bad when managers can't see the bigger picture. You win Jim. BBB wins. But you lost one customer. Oh.My. There are so many people who are lamenting the demise of brick and mortar businesses (me included!) and Bed Bath & Beyond certainly is not doing what they need to do to ensure their ongoing success as a brick and mortar establishment. So here's the thing: I do like to go to brick and mortar stores mainly to lay eyes on what I'm purchasing and to get the item I want in real time. Sometimes you NEED the item more quickly than any online retailer can provide. We went to BB&B to purchase a few items including new flatware. Everything else we were able to find by ourselves with no problem at all. They do have a fairly good selection of flatware on display, but they make it pretty much impossible to purchase it. Here's a rundown of the truly abysmal service we received from this department: * Hubby was off finding other stuff while I picked out flatware. Was in the department for at least ten minutes with no acknowledgement from department employees. * Hubby returns and rubber stamps my selection. He decides to take matters into his own hands and goes to the counter in the department where there are three employees working.There is a couple there doing their bridal registry, but none of the employees even acknowledges my hubby for several minutes. * When finally someone decides we're worthy of her assistance, she disappears to the back where she attempts to locate our choice of flatware and does not return for several minutes. When she comes back, she's clearly irritated with us for selecting an item she cannot readily find. She growls that this isn't her department and that another employee could find it faster than her. Ok, hey, sorry lady. Didn't mean to spoil your grumpy ass mood. * Another employee tells the grumpy lady where she can find the flatware. Disappears again for several minutes and returns even grumpier than before. She clearly realizes she's being a grump ass and tries to crack a smile at us, but she looks like she'd rather strangle us. * Finally, the employee who gave the instructions regarding where to find the flatware goes to the back herself and looks around. When she comes back out, she says they don't have the flatware we want. She then says that it's new and it probably hasn't arrived yet. To that, I say, "Maybe it shouldn't be on display yet if you don't have it available for customers to purchase." In response, I received one of the nastiest, icy cold glares I have ever seen and she snarled at me in a haughty condescending tone, "Most stores do not carry this kind of item on their shelves, anyway. Most people understand this." Yeah, sorry, lady. Most of us don't buy flatware every week and we don't have the intimate knowledge that you do. Thanks for making it clear that you think you're superior to us. It came through loud and clear during our short interaction. * My hubby and I wasted about 40 minutes of our lives being treated badly here. I will certainly return to BB&B for other stuff, but I will not return to this department knowing how inefficient and downright rude they are. I can only assume that they sized us up, made some sort of judgment call about our worthiness as customers and treated us as they saw fit. This is not cool. At all. So that sucked. BB&B should do something about the hostility that oozes from that department. It's the most high end department in the store and it's not in their best interests to alienate customers who are willing to hand over significant chunks of cash. Guess what? Right after leaving the store, I found the exact same flatware on my Amazon app for the same price. Within just a few clicks and LESS THAN 60 SECONDS, it was ordered and will arrive in two days. I hate that I ended up spending my money at an online retailer instead of at a brick and mortar store, but BB&B didn't deserve my money after treating my husband and me so poorly. Finally, as a side note, they do earn that second star for the rest of the employees. Yeah, checkout for our other items was a cluster**** because there weren't initially enough lanes open, but the person who checked us out was very nice and efficient and we were greeted warmly by another employee when we entered the store. They also truly have a pretty decent variety of stuff for the home and the hubby loves the World Market section. read more

I know this place is generally overpriced (hence the million 20% off coupons) but at least they let you use more than one coupon and even if they're expired....I digress. This review is for my most recent trip: I recently bough two sets of charges (those fancy plates you put under your china when you have dinner parties) for my Aunt for Christmas. They were reasonably priced and I used a coupon. After wrapping them and putting them under the tree I found out that I wasn't going to be seeing her anytime in the near future and no longer had the receipt. I took the items to the store (with tags half ripped off) with no receipt and told them I needed to make an even exchange for these, but to have them shipped to my Aunt in Iowa. They were unable to find evidence of my purchase on my card (because I used a different card and a different location for purchase). Nevertheless, they assisted me with exchanging the items and shipped them to my Aunt for FREE, which they didn't have to do. There were so many things on my part that could've been refused by them, and they showed excellent customer service, in the midst of a Sunday shuffle near Christmas time. Kudos to them! read more

When I think about it too helpful. She did not go through the checklist with us so, I think we got more than what we actually needed. We spent about 3 hours doing our registry in the store! So, I had to go back and update our registry online but, other than that, it was a good experience. read more

You can always find something that you're just certain you can't live without and don't know how you've made it this far in life without one, only to get it home and throw it a drawer never to be seen again. I went in to purchase an advertised item (toaster oven advertised for $69.99 that is regularly priced at $99.99). However the price rang up the original price of $99.99. Despite being told by a worker in the area and an override of the price in the register approved by someone from the hardlines department, they later changed their tune and refused to honor the advertised price. Whether this is a case of bait and switch or false advertising, the fact remains that Bed, Bath and Beyond doesn't honor their own sales circulars. read more
