This is a wonderful facility and on voting day it was set up for election central and very well staffed. There were officials to check you in , give you a ballot and show you where you could sit and make out the ballot. Once completed you just walk over to a scanner and insert your ballot and in seconds you are on your way. No long lines to stand in and no hassels. Congratulations Oldham County. It is great to see our taxes working so well.

I began working on the edges of Middletown almost 20 years ago, and back then there was nothing…read moremuch in Middletown that stood out other than a few local shops and cafes on Old Main Street. I also knew of Middletown and Hite Elementary, plus Eastern HS - all good schools. Now, Middletown looks different. I still work nearby and now I live just a couple of stop lights away. It continues to be a good place to shop local on Old Main, including Prickly Pear, Judy's Consignment and shops in the buildings once used as the first grocery store, or post office. Their city hall building also has a small walking circle and tables to enjoy lunch outside. A few local cafes have also remained, such as Alley Cat Cafe. During the fall they host a weekend fair, shutting down the street and shooting off fireworks. For Christmas they light the path with lights. Getting back on Shelbyville Rd, this area has popped with new businesses and restaurants. Most are chains but some are local. Check out the Cheddar Box, Paul's Fruit Market and Havana Rumba. Getting Target and Walmart in Middletown truly changed things. Nothing had been there! Now you'll find things to do and eat all the way to Gene Snyder (and beyond!) - House of Boom, Planet Fitness, Cyclebar, Club Pilates, Feeders Supply and more. Middletown is becoming a popular spot for families to purchase a home, or for new businesses to move in.

There was plenty of parking within a gated area. The building security was helpful in directing me where to go for my appointment at 8 am. The appointment, including the eye exam, was straightforward and quick.

It's been a year of loving this library, so it's time for an update!…read more My family and I love this little library and visit as a family at least once a month, while I stop by more than that to pick up books I've reserved. The staff is familiar and friendly. The children's area is small, but I love how it's set off from the rest of the library, meaning kids and can be kids a bit and make some noise. The small castle area is fun for my kiddos to jump and read in. They also love the coloring table and walking the aisles to find new books to love. This library hosts storytimes on Wednesdays for different age groups. We've come a couple of times to partake. It also hosts book discussions and other activities for adults. One other reason I've fallen in love with LFPL: the ease of requesting and borrowing audiobooks via the Libby app. If you have an LFPL library card, you can put a hold on up to eight books at a time. LFPL and the Crescent Hill branches make me proud to live in this city and neighborhood!

The old stone building 2 stories of tall ceilings and large book stacks. Large steps lead into the main entrance where you'll find the welcome/check-out desk and entrance to the children's library wing. Don't worry, the back entrance offers an ADA accessible ramp and elevator to take you to the basement level. The main floor hosts the DVDs, cds and shelves of pre-reserved items. The basement has the reference desk, computers, classrooms, bathrooms and more book stacks. I often use the website to search and reserve books. If it's checked out already, you'll be notified of your place on the waitlist and get a text when it's available for pickup. When you arrive, you can quickly do to the shelf and find your item in alphabetical order. A ticket with the first 3 letters of your last name will be in large print and sticking out from the book. Simply take the item to the desk. They'll scan the ticket and you'll be good to go. They'll even text you when your item is almost due. Obviously, it's good to return items on time or renew, but if you're late.. no biggie. They no longer have late fees! I usually just pick up my items and go, but every once in a while I need a quiet environment when I can force myself to focus. There are several little rooms scattered about with tables & lamps for more quiet studying. You're welcome to bring your laptop/ipad and connect to the free wifi. I usually bring my Beats or AirPods for noise cancellation, too... but it's a library, so it's generally pretty quiet. The hours are posted on the website, and the front door, but at about 15 minutes to close you'll hear an announcement to start packing up and checking out. The staff are all very kind, friendly, and helpful. They aren't timid in helping you to search for items/resources. They're also quick to tell you about online resources you can access with your library card -- including free practice tests for various fields of study.. and the "Libby" app, which gives you free access to audiobooks from your phone! Final perk, there's a small, but private parking lot which usually has a few open spots. If not, parking is free on Frankfort Ave and the surrounding streets. For those that could use a little support, or those that are in a position to share, there's a free food pantry facing Frankfort Ave, just off the parking lot. There are lots and lots of great libraries in the Ville, but I feel pretty lucky that Crescent Hill is my "home" library.

Library was easy to find and a very impressive facility. Demonstration kitchen with video display and audio were all great. Parking lot was fairly well lit, but did have a few burnt out roadway bulbs, which caused us to walk very gingerly off of the curb to our cars. Looking forward to future programming.

While a gorgeous building, I can't properly rate it as I haven't used the library as a patron -- I haven't borrowed a book or spent time in there studying, so I don't really know how good a library it is. But as a tourist passing by, it was a good place to stop in for a look at the architecture and to use their washroom and fill up our water bottles, which was very much needed on such a hot day. Then we got in line to pick up our dinners. Rick was our amazing chef and he had prepared an 8-oz Baked Pork Chop, Baked Sweet Potatos, Sliced Apples, Salad, or a Cup of Chili. Our price was $12. They also had three choices of desserts for $2.00 - pumpkin pie, chocolate cake or cookies. The Pork Chops were thick and tender enough to cut with your fork.
