I have never been treated in a such a disrespectful way at a job. Kathie has been the worst boss I have ever experienced. When I initially got the job I was supposed to be teaching art to the older kids, but instead at the very last minute was put in the baby room. Which if that was their plan then they should've been more up front when hiring me. It just shows that Kathie lacks integrity. While working there I noticed a few things 1. Kathie will put her kids above anyone else's. Her 8 year old daughter often goes to the daycare and is often rude and disrespectful. I noticed during lunch Kathie purposely would ignore other kids who were asking for extra food, and instead give it to her kid who wasn't even asking for anything extra. 2. They will leave you in a room by yourself to care for many babies at once! It's nearly impossible to be able to keep up with feeding, nap time, and diaper changing. Most of the time I have to care for 2 little babies and 4 toddlers. Which can be a lot when you don't have a place to set down the babies. She also lied to me when I decided to quit and didn't pay me for my last shift working there! There is so much more that happened but overall it's just not a healthy place to send your kids. I do have respect for some of the staff there, but with Kathie as the administrator it's not a very good environment for anyone. I would not recommend sending your kids there or working there. It's a place that I don't see getting any better as long as Kathie is the administrator. read more

I highly recommend if your looking for amazing childcare for your little ones! I've been taking my two kids here since October 2022 & my kids have so much fun here! The staff is great & they really love kids. My older kid gets excited to see his school friends & my baby gets excited to see the workers. As a working mom with no family in the area to take care of my kids, the people working here have become my kids second family! I'm so grateful for them & their hard work in helping my children learn & grow. They have an app to check your kids in & out! This app will also give you timely updates of meals, naps, diaper changes, and occasional pictures of your child! I always look at the app for an update while they're at daycare & that helps to give me peace of mind. Beehive is a great facility that does fun activities with kids & they have the most amazing staff! Worth looking into if you're in need of childcare! read more

So I went to pick up daughter's Rx and the parking lot was saturated with cars as the majority of the businesses were open. First a little info....I have a handicap parking privilege, because I need to use a cane to walk long distances. I usually only use the handicap parking if I am having a particularly bad day and cannot walk to far. I will not park in the handicap spot if there is a spot available close by so that someone else that needs the handicap spot will have access. Today was a bad day but I sucked it up and parked out a ways. When I got out of my truck I noticed that the passenger van for the Beehive Learning Academy was parked in the handicap even though their business is closed. There was no indication on their plate or in the window that they had parking privileges. I looked inside the van wondering if they maybe forgot to put the placard up. Nothing and the school was closed. I called the school and left a message and thought that would maybe make them think twice about what they did. But as I was walking back to my truck I saw another couple an older gentleman with a much older woman. She had a walker and was having a hard time getting across the parking lot. With this I got angry. Someone was incredibly negligent in where they parked the van and put out not only me, but more importantly this son and his mother and other's who needed that spot. I did call the police and report it...why because I stood there on the sidewalk with this woman while her son went to get their car and she was upset that she was inconveniencing me and she wasn't sure she would be able to stand there much longer. I assure her she wasn't and I was actually glad to have gotten to visit with her. After I got her settled in the car I waited for the police. I know this sounds like a real "Karen" move as many would think but I didn't rant or rave. Care takers do not have a good and patient relationship with the children. Have not been able to properly and constructively discipline (time out) the children when needed, teaching them what's acceptable and what isn't, and without showing tempers, even when calling parents about issues. Rules are not across the board when children need some "time- out" time. My grandson has been bitten 4 times, left with teeth marks and bruises (pictures with proof) and he himself had "one" biting incident and was permanently removed from this daycare Some get time out, some are having parents called to pick child up and cannot return to this daycare and needs to find someone else to care for them immediately causing parents having to take time off work to find a safe daycare for their children. Families on state assistance lose the remaining funds for the month (which current daycare keeps) and when a new daycare is found parents have to privately pay for it. (This can be financially stressful on any family, especially when it's a single parent family with a job). The state is being told the child left the daycare by "mutual agreement " which is completely dishonest information from Beehive Academy. I've also witnessed children being taken from parents/grandparents arms on more than one occasion when child is upset about being dropped off at daycare (which happens) in a very un-nurturing manor. Why would you leave them in an atmosphere such as this? Obviously there's an issue causing the children to be unhappy I've also witnessed children left crying for an unreasonable amount of time and being ignored and un-comforted. I've also witnessed the owners (Kathie) as well as one other employee's temper. This is extremely unacceptable. Children are very sensitive and parents should be very comfortable leaving them in anyone's care Think twice about leaving them here and this is by far "not" a hate review, but 100% honest facts. Please spend mrs time reviewing daycares, physically go there, take a tour and drop in unexpectedly Please go above and beyond looking at all reviews when choosing a daycare. The staff are well trained and CPR certified as well as their learning curriculum is state of the art and includes actual Montessori. The director Kathie Barlow has over 25 years of experience in early childhood education and knows what she is doing. We had a very negative experience. We had to move our child before she could even finish a week. We agreed on a drop off time and as my husband went to drop her off there was no one there making him late for work. Several times we picked her up and they were huddled around the teacher watching Peppa Pig on her phone. Security door wasn't locked and my husband walked right in with no one knowing. I picked up our child one day and only had a diaper and shirt on even though we provided an extra change of clothes. Sadly the place was just very unprofessional and expensive for what you get. read more

This has been the worst job experience I have ever had. I got hired as a part time child care teacher, and was very clear about my lack of experience with taking care of children. I was expecting to be fully trained, but when I arrived on my first day that was not the case. I got very minimal training, and mostly helped with the infants, with a coworker there to help me. On my second day, they were low staffed and stuck me with 12 toddlers all by myself. I had no clue how to manage that class, I didn't even know where the toys were, or how to change a diaper. Not to mention- I wasn't even CPR certified (which the owner knew about). When I asked the owner for help, she got very snappy with me, making it seem like it was my fault for not being trained. I was extremely overwhelmed and was not expecting to be left alone on my second day. Before I could even finish my shift, the owner pulled me into her office and fired me on the spot. She had no reason other than her saying she didn't think this was going to work out. Do NOT send your children here for preschool OR daycare, because they don't properly train their employees, and leave your kids alone with an 18 year old that isn't CPR certified. Do not apply here and expect to be treated fairly, or to even be given a chance to learn. I feel bad for the children that attend here. I can't believe they would even let me watch the children on my own on my second day, when I clearly had no clue what I was doing. read more

Unfortunately I would not recommend! Positives of this place: the actual facility is nice and they have an app that is meant to keep you updated on your child and have communication with parents. So that's good! However, the employees do not use the app consistently. One day I would get updates on what my daughter was doing and the majority days I would not? So does that mean she wasn't taken to the bathroom those days? Not sure. So consistency is not a thing there. Unless referring to the consistency of making sure the kids sleep half the time. I was told nap time was from 1-3, but Ive picked up my daughter a little after 12 and around four before to find the lights off with a few kids roaming around aimlessly. I agree with nap time. Especially for littles, but I don't agree with having kids sleep half the time you have them and collecting a check. I've only seen one activity being done ever and I would pick or drop off my daughter at different times to pop in and see. All the other times I've seen one employee standing in the middle of kids, with the kids basically walking in circles or staring at a screen, or crying to get out of there. For what I've seen they do not stimulate or in anyway academically challenge the kids. If your kid can do that themselves fully, it should be fine. My daughter barely turned two and does not do that, she wants someone to interact with, she wants to learn and do new activities. I never found any paint on her clothes or heard any new things that she learned from there. She's very talkative and aware so I'd ask her what's she'd do for the day and she'd say sleep and lunch most days. One time she said bubbles! She went there for a little over a month, not very long, and they actually called my husband and said that she can no longer attend after two weeks because she cries to much. Yet whenever I picked her up, they said she cried for a little bit but had a "blast", as they literally said, and that she just needed to get used to the schedule. Our stuff that we sent there would constantly go missing and I'd have to see if they could find it. I was on the fence about it anyways and I know my daughter wont miss it. My recommendation is that if you do decide to try it out, have them give you a schedule of what daily activities your kids should be engaging in and pop in at random times. Also have a back up for when, or if they decide they are not able to care for your child because it actually means they have to do something interactive with them. read more

I had such an awful experience with the Director Kathie from the start. She would continuously change my monthly price, and if my 3 year old had a tantrum they would call or text me at work causing me stress instead of updating me when I picked my child up, like all other daycares do. My older child hated it there. They had all the kids in one big room instead of split up into smaller classrooms by age. My older child was always hungry there, they never fed him enough. read more

Today was the agreed upon drop off date for my daughter. After registering in June and checking in with the administrator weeks prior, I was not reminded of the entrance procedure or updated on anything since June so when I got there expecting to see an adult I was allowed in by a fellow parent, no teacher at the front, but parent wouldn't allow me in to speak to anyone so they went in on my behalf, instead of being greeted I was told I should have called first and to go and come back. I called to speak to the administrator, no answer. Finally I remembered she texted me months ago so I called her number. She called me back, what was concluded was barely an apology and that I would only receive a partial refund not a full refund for the day and registration. We will NOT be coming back and I will not recommend this school to anyone especially after the way the administrator spoke to me. Completely outraged by this experience!!! read more

Both of my daughters have attended Beehive Learning Academy, and our experiences have been positive. The environment is clean and cheerful. I like the current teachers, and I like that the staff uses an app to communicate with parents. I would like to know a little more about the teachers. At my daughters' previous daycare, they posted teacher bios (name, hometown, hobbies, likes). I wouldn't mind seeing something like that at Beehive. The owner does a wonderful job promptly and thoroughly addressing questions and concerns. I like the pictures of my daughters and art projects I receive. I also think it is sweet and fun that they organize parties and field trips for the children. I am very type "A" and picky, especially when it comes to my children. I feel that Beehive has met my expectations. read more

The Bluff street facility is the absolute worst center I have ever had the displeasure of sending my kids to. They constantly change staff. There is absolutely NO consistency in anything they do. Completely driven by money. They do not care about the needs of the children at all what so ever. I had my child in the infant class. This class was dirty and poorly organized. I hardly ever was told what times my baby had ate or napped for the day. She came home with diaper rashes several times which tells me she was not being changed per state law of every 2 hours. The teacher miss Kat and owner Kathie were rude and judgmental. The cost to take my child there was close to $750/month for 4 days a week of care which is absurd for what you are getting. I would never recommend this day care to anyone. read more

Worst daycare center ever!!! I took my son to the center on Mall drive. Kathie Barlow is very unprofessional and horrible to deal with. She doesn't care about children at all, only the money. My son would cry and scream every day I would drop him off. We would come home and he would complain about going back the next day and then cry all morning before I took him. There were different people everyday and no consistency so my son could never get used to the same people. Once he had an accident and they didn't even tell me so I didn't get his clothes until the next day when I asked about them and they spelled so bad of urine that I had to throw away the clothes. I finally told her I couldn't do that to my son anymore. She said I had to have 30 days written notice which is absolutely ridiculous when your child hates it. So we put in the notice and after two weeks I told her I couldn't come anymore. She wouldn't respond to my voicemails and so I quit taking him. She then charged my card again, which I disputed with the bank and then two months later she was still charging my card!!! Do not give your credit card number! She is a horrible lady!!! read more
