If you've spent any length of time in the UK then you know that good pancakes are hard to come by. I never realized how much I needed those circular discs of love until I couldn't get them anymore. My partner went for the All American Dream pancakes which hit every breakfast point there is: meaty salty bacon, the umami of tasty eggs, and the sweetness of blueberry compote alongside buttery maple syrup. I'm drooling just typing out this sentence. I went ultra lush with their summer special Peaches & Cream pancakes that had vanilla and ginger spice baked peaches. Need I say more? The photo removes all doubt about how luxury these pancakes were. This is the kind of soul satisfying food experience that I'll ended up dreaming about in the future. It also has wonderful Monmouth coffee and a small but impressive selection of lip-smackingly good food. There's brunch items, daily warm and cold salads, soups, welsh rarebit and cheese and ham boards with chunks of fresh bread. I've tried and loved the latter two but the thing I'm hooked on is their homemade toasted breakfast loaf. It's packed with oats, nuts and fruit and comes with yoghurt and jam. Their selection of home-baked cakes, meringues and brownies also make Igigi an ideal place to catch up with friends over cake and coffee or afternoon tea. The only downside is it's more pricey than other local cafes and is so small, it's sometimes hard to get a table. Anyone for coffee and carrot cake?

I'd give it three stars for the music and the drinks but alas, last time I went I was served a fish-finger sandwich that looked and tasted inedible. The fries also tasted like they'd come from the nearby McDonalds and we all know cowboys prefer cornbread and chilli to fish fingers and fries.

With the hustle and bustle of New Road behind you, and the calming, quiet Pavillion Gardens in front, as well as plenty of tree cover in the warm summer months, this is the ideal place to sit and soak up the rays. There's even a tree chart telling you what is what, which is a lovely addition. In the end, you're not going to get much out of the ordinary at this cafe, plastic seats and all, but the location is divine. If it isn't too busy here, grab a seat and absorb some sun!
