I love coming here on weekends! The owner is always willing to assist whomever about anything in his store or any topic that surrounds the business. Every time I go there I'll always end up having to pick something up because of great prices or discovering something I've wanted. I really wish I could spend more afternoons their but with my life that's a hard thing to accomplish but if you're into any type of genre of any physical media (exept DVD and maybe floppy discs) youll Definity be pleased coming to Been Around. read more

After decades of living in Little Rock, I finally paid my first visit to Been Around Records in 2024. It was everything I hope it would be. When stepping inside, you can instantly see the rich heritage of this landmark location and the patrons that have long frequented it. I was on a specific hunt for a few vintage records and was very impressed with their selection and organization. The owner was more than helpful and friendly. One of the best parts of the experience was the transaction. I had five records and the owner gave me a very reasonable price. I appreciated the informality of the pricing and the long-forgotten feeling of what it is like to buy from an indecently owned business. I love this place. Whether you do also probably depends on your willingness to dive into a cramped and somewhat disorganized space, with CDs and albums stacked on the floor in places, making it a little difficult to access all particular spots at times. Similar to some of the more charming used bookstores I've been to in that regard. I was a regular customer in the late 1980s, and Been Around Records is a must visit every time I'm back in town - a port of calm in the storm. Summary: This is a treasure trove for vinyl collectors. I collect vinyl records. It might be because I started in radio back when we played vinyl and I fell in love with the crackle and subtle imperfections of vinyl that brought a warmth you can't get with CDs or MP3s. Perhaps it was the awesome album art that made buying a record a double whammy of something for your ears and something for your eyes. Either way, it's a passion, and I'm very passionate about my passion. One of the big problems with collecting vinyl is that many people who try to sell it try to rip you off. They'll mark up albums that are in mediocre quality to high prices just because of the artist or the album; they figure people will pay whatever for bands like Led Zeppelin just because of the name. As a result, a lot of folks pay $40-50 for an album that's really worth less than half that. You usually see this at flea markets (most of the time.) That's why Been Around is such an oasis in the overpriced desert for vinyl collectors. Every single time I have been here I find something that I haven't been able to find in years and it's almost always in collector quality. The prices are more than reasonable and in line with the true collector's market. And the owner? Well, let me tell you a story about the owner. I'm a huge Rush fan, as has been well documented on my page. I went in and was looking around and was ecstatic to find a copy of Farewell to Kings. Now, it wasn't in the best of shape. So when I took up the albums I wanted, he listened through them to make sure they were OK. When he heard the surface noise and the few skips on the Rush disc, he says to me... "There's a lot of noise on this. I can't in good conscience ask you to pay for that. You can have it if you want it." I have never dealt with anyone selling vinyl that had the integrity to do something like that with a less than quality vinyl. (There's one other store in Paragould, AR where I think the owner would do that, but that situation hasn't arisen there for me to comment one way or the other.) Bottom line: This is a place where vinyl record collectors will be treated with honesty, respect and value. read more

The negative comments are from lazy Record shopper. Yes the vinyl is on wall shelfs. So you need to put in some effort to browse. But there is good sfuff to browse and purchase a decent prices. The owner is knowledgeable and friendly too! read more

This place is a shit hole. Sorry, it just is. Records are too hard to get to because of the system they employ. There is no flipping or browsing. Isles are full of crap and you can barely even move. Fire Hazzard records would be a more suitable name for this dump. One of the worst record stores I've been to in the country. No joke. read more
