Always a great place to be for children and adults. It has so many different places to check out…read moreand explore. Learning is endless when they have little stands to tell you what you are seeing. The greenery is so smooth and beautiful flowers everywhere I enjoyed the walking around through the Chinese Scholar's Garden to see the beautiful bamboo trees and the amazing cottages it took my breath away like I was transformed into China. Be careful of the trails because they are uneven but that is what makes it so beautiful how natural everything is. They have so many shows and eating areas to go to the museums are so fun and interactive. I have to go back again it was so much to see....especially when they have concerts on the lawn....so wonderful to spend a summer afternoon with the kids then go back for the adult good times to be had

What a trek to Staten Island! On a day off, my friend and I decided to check out this botanical…read moregarden. Would I say it's comparable to the other botanical gardens in BK or BX? No but it is a free entrance. I came here on a Monday and it was pretty quiet with little crowds. They had a children's museum and several veterans buildings. Most of them were closed due to their hours being only on weekends. Our main goal was to visit the Chinese temple. There aren't visible signs so we got lost for almost 20 minutes, hiking through unnecessary dirt. Once found, it was unfortunately closed! It was such a bummer. There is one food place in the entire garden but I felt it was pricey and opted to eat in the city. Would I return? Probably not but i can see if someone wants to relax at a park to read a book and free of the NYC noise then this is your park! Best to wear sneakers here, you will WALK! They did have beautiful flowers that I spotted throughout.

We had the pleasure of meeting the artist, Mr. Lenny who explained he grew up very poor in the West Indies and used to make his own toys out of different things he found around the house and in his community. He stated he started working as a car mechanic when he came to NYC and started making little objects out of scrap metal and then progressed to larger items. The art work was definitely more impressive after hearing his story and modest beginnings. Mr. Lenny was very humble and didn't appear to be that motivated in being in the "limelight" to promote his work. He stated he really didn't sell his art pieces but would occasionally make a piece for commission if he was in the mood to do the work. Mr. Lenny did have some small affordable souvenirs available for purchase including tee shirts, posters and mugs. My favorite pieces were Michael Jackson, Obama and the 9/11 memorial. We also saw one of Lenny's pieces at the Snug Harbor Park. Mr. Lenny is truly an artist to be reckoned with and it was cool visiting his museum and him being there answering our questions and just opening up about his personal journey. This was like my 3rd time in Staten Island so I am not familiar with the area but we took the Ferry and then bus 40 to get to his museum. He also had a bathroom for visitors and it was clean. LOL. This is definitely a spot to check out and then you can walk to Staten Island's gorgeous park, Snug Harbor which is what we did, it was about a 15 minute walk for yall non walkers or the bus was right on the corner.
