They also happened to have a dance performance from the Texas AMA inside which is cool, power to all arts including dance but it was distracting and smack dab in the middle of some interesting pieces I would've liked more time with before my flight. Elizabeth's was a cool restaurant. The blood orange ahi tuna was really delicious like spot on. My martini was okay. They didn't have olives and I've had better being from vegas. Prices are fair though and the staff is decently nice. Lots of crying babies in there when I went though which kind of killed the artsy vibe I was hoping for but I guess that happens in a touristy part of town in Texas. Overall it was nice I'm just a sensitive person and enjoy quiet to ponder art and eat my meal so consider that if you're traveling solo and are similar I suppose. Gift shop was cool and I had a nice chat with the lovely lady in there. And the security guard was cool, he let me store my luggage with him. It's a quick walk over from the convention center so if you want a little art time and a quick drink and meal that's super convenient, it's kind of a no brainer.

Growing up listening to her music and later…read morewatching her story brought to life in the J.Lo movie, visiting the Selena Museum was a must while I was in Corpus Christi, Texas. The museum does an incredible job showcasing Selena's life and legacy. It's packed with authentic, collectible pieces--her iconic outfits, personal items, and career achievements are all beautifully displayed. You even get to see the actual recording studio where she worked, along with her piano, drums, and her stunning Porsche Targa on display. Seeing all of this in person was truly special and meaningful. This visit definitely felt like paying my respects to a legend. The gift shop is great as well--I picked up a vinyl before leaving, and they also have plenty of shirts and memorabilia. The staff was excellent, the museum itself is clean and well maintained, and the overall ambiance and service were fantastic. I absolutely loved my visit and would highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area--especially fans of Selena.

This space does a good job of demonstrating the geology, current culture, and European influences on the modern day city. I came looking for the history of the indigenous people, as part of my roots originate in Corpus Christi. Afraid I didn't learn what I was looking for. It is primarily Anglo centric in its pre modern history. There is some historical context for Karankawan Indians but very surface level. I would like to see a deeper dive into that history. I loved the geology survey of the area and the xeriscape garden! Beautiful! There was a lot of explanation of Spanish and French influences.. that was great, too. So the organization of the museum was lacking... Curation is good, but it could have been presented in a chronological order that made sense . A museum should read like a book, but it was a noble attempt to present Corpus Christi history.

It's too beautiful to use! The student art display was another highlight--there was a piece on cats and another on dogs, and I adored both. The detail in each work was amazing. These young artists are incredibly talented. I can't wait to go back. A sculpture garden surrounds the museum so there's plenty of areas to stroll and take photos. This museum resides in a gorgeous 1920s Spanish colonial revival residence built by Marion McNay. The building itself is art with its wood detailing, arches, and intricate tile ceilings and floors. The actual art collection consisted of over 20,000 items, but only some are displayed and occasionally on rotation. The collection embodied European and American art of the nineteenth century, twentieth, and twenty first centuries. Sooo much to see- paintings, special exhibits, vase collection, Angelica Raquel Mystic Threads, sculptures, and a lovely garden/pond/fountain containing koi. The museum has a gift shop, restrooms, and a special collection of art displayed by many artistic school children. My new found artist I discovered here was Carl Rice Embery. A pure Texan, his art was amazing ! Initially I thought the pieces were photographs, but up close they are actual paintings. That's how realistic they are. Simple Texan scenery. There's also a sweet covered picnic area to relax or have a small party. Peaceful and a nice retreat. A small art building resides in the park containing a gallery of a particular artist. We enjoyed all their trails, park store, and exploring the grounds outside the mission. The park is very dog friendly; however, the rodeo was taking place when we visited and the fireworks were so loud, they upset our dog. We ended up not staying the second night because we heard the firework show would be even more intense. I would suggest including that information on the park website. Other than that, we sincerely enjoyed our time at the park.
