They also happened to have a dance performance from the Texas AMA inside which is cool, power to all arts including dance but it was distracting and smack dab in the middle of some interesting pieces I would've liked more time with before my flight. Elizabeth's was a cool restaurant. The blood orange ahi tuna was really delicious like spot on. My martini was okay. They didn't have olives and I've had better being from vegas. Prices are fair though and the staff is decently nice. Lots of crying babies in there when I went though which kind of killed the artsy vibe I was hoping for but I guess that happens in a touristy part of town in Texas. Overall it was nice I'm just a sensitive person and enjoy quiet to ponder art and eat my meal so consider that if you're traveling solo and are similar I suppose. Gift shop was cool and I had a nice chat with the lovely lady in there. And the security guard was cool, he let me store my luggage with him. It's a quick walk over from the convention center so if you want a little art time and a quick drink and meal that's super convenient, it's kind of a no brainer.

Brand spanking new,it replaces the small original arts center in the marina, destroyed by Hurricane Harvey. This is an impressive structure for a small town. Built to withstand hurricane conditions,the cement and steel piers go down 60 feet to hit bed rock. The two story modern structure is archetectally appealing,roomy, comfortable and operated by a caring staff. 3 large galleries with one dedicated to local artist . Ryoichi Suzuki's sculptures were such a wonderful surprise, and I'm so excited that Susie Black will be the featured artist at the festival in July! I'm so thrilled to now own this sunglass case. It's too beautiful to use! The student art display was another highlight--there was a piece on cats and another on dogs, and I adored both. The detail in each work was amazing. These young artists are incredibly talented. I can't wait to go back. I'm also including a video of the area and some of the beautiful murals that surround the art center, so you can see the whole area and get the whole experience. What a wonderful place to visit! This museum doesn't seem to have a permanent collection. Instead, it houses a continuous array of touring exhibitions. You can eat and drink in the gallery! When I came, two women had gotten lunch to go from Dairy Queen down the street, and were enjoying their Belt Busters in front of a magnificent work of art in the cool breeze of the air conditioning. For my visit, they had an exhibition of linoleum etchings. It was really cool, because they had a couple of places where you could sketch your own linoleum tile to try it out. They have a gift shop here, with high priced works of art, but you're not going to find this stuff anywhere else. It seems that they have a little bar in the back for parties and events. Parking is only available on the street, but when I went, there wasn't a big crowd, so it was easy. The gallery attendant was extremely nice and welcoming, and went on to explain the history of the museum and a bit about the artist. I was really impressed, and can't wait to return for the next exhibition!

We are slowly visiting Texas State parks and Goliad did not disappoint. The Jacales electric…read morecamping/RV area was quiet and well kept. We enjoyed all their trails, park store, and exploring the grounds outside the mission. The park is very dog friendly; however, the rodeo was taking place when we visited and the fireworks were so loud, they upset our dog. We ended up not staying the second night because we heard the firework show would be even more intense. I would suggest including that information on the park website. Other than that, we sincerely enjoyed our time at the park.

Then the nitty-gritty: saddles, spurs, horse whips, riding crops, chaps, cowboy hats, boots, etc. all the necessary tools for the cowboy. The staff is very well-versed. They can explain what each piece is used for and who were the best artisans. The souvenir shop is cute and chock full of Texan stuff. Cutest was a Texas-shaped shot glass. The museum will be undergoing expansion soon. Wow. Give it a visit when in Cuero.
