We went with Beggars Banquet for our 114 person wedding in Orange and they were wonderful. Currey was an absolute pleasure to work with and our guests were literally raving about the food for days afterwards. I'm a vegetarian and requested integrating whole grains and green vegetables. Currey asked incredibly insightful questions to craft the menu. E.g. What foods do you and your husband gravitate towards? What about your guests? What foods do you not want to see at the wedding? Currey drew out a lot of info in our in person meeting in a really comfortable way. The menu consisted things like: Grilled Moroccan Spiced Chicken Breasts with Mango ChutneyWine Sauce Drizzle Quinoa Tabouli Salad Quickly Blanched Rainbow Chard with Lemon, Sea Salt and Radishes ~ raita on the side ~ Pan Seared Ahi Tuna Salad with Watermelon, Arugula and Feta and HoisinLime Vinaigrette Seasonal Vegetable, Golden and Red Beet Salad with Wheatberries, HoneySherry Sunflower Seed & Herb Vinaigrette Our guests were NOT vegetarian and they weren't really used to this type of food. But they all commented on how delicious and different it was. I'm talking facebook bragging about the food! My wife and I used Beggar's Banquet as the caterer for our 75 person wedding in Orange, and were completely blown away by the experience; everything from the helpful, friendly, and cheerful service to the patient listening to my wife and I talk about what we were looking for to the total quality of the food provided was amazing and exceeded our expectations. I'm a bit of a foodie (if you couldn't have guessed by my reviews here), so I was initially drawn to Beggars Banquet when our wedding coordinator suggested them as a group that tries to source local and seasonal; which they absolutely do. In working with Marty and Currey, who are both wonderful people in their personalities and attitudes, we were able to take some of my ideas for what we wanted (the traditional meat/poultry/vegetarian options) and craft some delicious and unique entrees. They were both extremely accommodating with our schedule as well, working in a full tasting over the Thanksgiving holiday for us; and when I say full tasting, it was much more than I was expecting, four of each of our appetizers and full plates for all of our entrees. That alone was extremely helpful as we could then talk at a detail level about the flavor profile, and the look and layout of the food: too much of this, or that we'd prefer this type of garnish. All three of our entrees were quite delicious; my wife remarked that going into this process she was pretty set on the Beef entree, but after tasting the Vegetarian (something with eggplant and cheese and tomato sauce) she changed her mind. They also provided some deliious appetizers including deviled eggs, bacon wrapped scallops and some delicious (I jest, it all was quite delicious) mini sliders. From a delivery and staffing perspective, beggars banquet was extremely professional and polite and worked hard to make sure that everything was where it needed to be, from setting out the appetizers to when to serve the entrees to what wines and champagnes to use for what toasts. Their bartender specifically who's name escapes me was a real ham, and had fun interacting with our guests, and really contributed to the whole relaxed atmosphere. All in all I feel that the value provided by beggars banquet and Currey and Marty was phenomenal, and they were great about meeting and surpassing our every need. read more

Beggars Banquet recently catered our wedding of 150 guests in the Charlottesville area, and my wife and I could not be more pleased with our choice. Most importantly, the food quality was exquisite. Every course exceeded expectations. We did a lot of shopping around before we chose Beggars Banquet, and we are certain we made the right decision. Beggars offered the best food of the numerous caterers we tested out, and the price was very reasonable. We didn't give Marty and Currey much to work with in devising a menu, and they came up with a terrific menu almost entirely on their own. We said we wanted beef, chicken, and vegetarian entrees, but had no ideas beyond that -- pretty simple. Normally I expect mass-produced chicken to be bland and dry, but the chicken was as appetizing as the steak, which was itself cooked perfectly with a wonderful marinade and horseradish sauce. The chicken was moist and delicious; marinated nicely and served with a bruschetta topping. The vegetarian dish was wildly popular, too. We received multiple requests for the recipe of the vegetarian entree from guests, but obviously that was proprietary information that could not be shared. Guests also raved about the appetizers: lamb skewers, caprese & crackers, and shredded beef on homemade tortillas (we had asked for these ourselves). Marty and Currey were also more than happy to help us with various wedding-related questions we had throughout the process. On the whole, we couldn't be more pleased to have chosen Beggars Banquet as our caterer. We had high expectations and they exceeded them. read more

Wow, Beggars Banquet was great!! They catered my wedding in 2008 and did a phenomenal job! Many of the caterers I interviewed were expensive and unwilling to budge on their menus or prices. They were uncreative and too controlling over my event! I was on a tight budget and Beggars Banquet worked with me in every way. They were quick to respond over email and came up with great options. For the event, they let me purchase the beer/wine, cheese/crackers, veggie trays, paper products, cutlery, etc. And they staged and served it with their incredible heavy hors d'oeuvres on their platters! It was such a relief to know that everything was taken care of. They had great attention to detail and were very thoughtful. I got lots of compliments on the quality of the food. Their staff was great. And my favorite part was the goody basket they made for us on our wedding night to make sure we got to enjoy all the food we ordered! Marty was very helpful in deciding exactly what we needed for our reception and was flexible when I needed to change the order a few weeks before the wedding! Good food. Employees are interesting characters - not sarcastic...I would actually like to hang out with them. They could do better at cleaning up after themselves though. I've used them twice and twice I've found trails of grease from where they were transporting food (meat) from one place to another. read more

We used Beggar's Banquet for linen rentals for our nearby wedding at The Inn at Willow Grove. Beggar's Banquet was great - working with Marty was so easy! She has great attention to detail and used our Save the Date to come up with a selection of coordinating linens, which she had displayed when we arrived to look at linens. The linens arrived at the venue packaged and very clearly labeled so everything was a breeze to set up! Their linens added just the pop of color we needed to enhance our neutral color scheme. They were also very reasonably priced. I would recommend them to anyone. read more
